I do also feel.sorry for the horses. They should not be tested like that. I can see them being useful to pull a wagon or a carriage or something else But challenging them in this fashion is very dangerous.

That pulling track is uneven and a little on the dry side. They were digging for footing to start their pull. A little water and dragging that track would have helped and possibly prevent injuries to the animals.
