Out of my collection and appreciation for film cameras, the Canon FTb is the first I always reach for when I want to head out and shoot some film. In this short video I talk about what I love about the camera, the vintage lenses I use, some accessories and show some sample photos I have taken with this great film camera. Thank you for watching and being patient while my vlogging skills and tech...

I have both, the newer XF 18mm f/1.4 and the older 18mm f/2 lenses. The 18mm 1.4 is the better lens but I always use the 18mm f/2 lens on my X-Pro3 camera. It really is a great lens regardless of all the negative reviews out there on line about it, I love it. It is absolutely "good enough" and a fun lens to use. It fits the X-Pro3 that I use so much better than the bigger and newer 18mm lens. I'm very picky and if the 18mm f/2 lens wasn't a good lens I would absolutely not use it and surely get rid of it.

Yeah, I'm sold on the 18mm f2. if I found a good price, I'm certain it would be glued my my xpro2. I have both the older 27mm and the 35f2 and 23f2. and always have the 27mm on the camera. it's the perfect form factor. The 18mm f2 would just be perfection on the xpro line cameras.

@@giuseppdantesapienza I also use the 27mm too (newer version). It's actually extremely sharp stopped down a little bit. I usually keep the 27mm on my X-E4.

@@JimsPhotographyArt the 27mm is the perfect fit on my xe-1. but unfortunately both camera and lens being a bit old, the AF is a bit hit and miss, which is a shame, as it would the be perfect pocket camera. even tried a manual focus pancake lens on the XE-1. But the focus peaking is not very good at all. So again miss a lot of shots.

yeah, its crazy the price of Fuji cameras these days. Both used and new. I'll keep my xpro2 and xe-1. have a couple of lenses. Don't think I'll be investing much more into the system to be honest. I have already spent way to much on my pro canon gear for work.

Thanks for watching. I have a lot of cameras, and the xpro2 has to be close to the top. As mentioned, is the sort of camera you want to pick up and shoot. it makes you want to go out and be creative. I have the older 27mm fuji and it's not as sharp or fast, but it's the lens I have on it most of the time. It's compact and just the right focal length. I may even consoler upgrading the newer 27mm fuji.

i get this "small camera / great everyday carry" point. however, I entered the fuji lineup with the X-T20 (the same sensor and image quality as the X-PRO 2) and I just cant split with the X-Txx line of cameras. :) I bought the X-PRO 3 and was sure that it will be the camera I will love - no, it was not. It was too heavy, the OVF was not s great at the end .. I end up with the X-T30 ii at the end and I happy again. Regarding Leica (and generally full-frame sensor for zone focusing): I've been lucky and had them all before the M10. Many good thing with Leica. For manual work and build quality - viewfinder etc. the list is loooooong. But for me, who shoots 99% street photography(zone focus) there is a big problem with a full-frame sensor. And that's depth of field. On the Leica, I have to go up to f16-f20 to get about the same depth of field as the Fuji at f11-f8. I bought the X-pro2 a few months ago. As I said since I'm a manual focus guy (zone focusing) had to have a proper manual lens. Bought the Voigtlander 18mm and love it. Made some videos on my channel if you want to check them out. Thanks

I have all 3 models, tough call (and controversial) however the is ‘3’ is probably my favorite. I recently acquired (yesterday as a matter of fact) a Pergear 25mm 1.7….wow! I shot a Rodeo last night with this combo (along with an X-T5 for client work) and I was very pleased with the results. I haven’t shot with a MF lens since the late 80s, glad to see that my focusing skills have not declined that much over the decades.

have considered some of the Pergear, immensely cheap for what they deliver. and in regards to the xpro3. I think, if I hadn't bought the xpro2 before the 3 came out, I would have also gone with the 3. I have zero issues with the rear screen being closed. In fact I always switch my screen off on the xpro2 and only use the viewfinder. And when I need the screen, having that low down flip is perfect for those waist level shots.

Very underrated camera, was VERY glad they hadn't shot up in value when I picked one up. Its built like a tank, simple to operate, has classic timeless styling and while the lightmeter is basic it does the job. I have the FTb QN and having the shutter speed visible in the viewfinder is a nice feature. This is the one I'd recommend. Got mine for $100 with the 50mm f1.4 S.C.C which is easily worth $100 by itself.

You are on the money. Re: 18mm f2, just get one. I have a Pro3 (if going again I'd probably just get the Pro2 and spend the difference on glass, but Pro3 is fantastic in any case). That lens got bad press back in the day, but I've tried a few Fuji X lenses on the Pro3 (incl. 23mm 1.4 and 35mm f2, 56 1.2), all fantastic, but the 18/2 is the one you will prise from my cold dead fingers. Don't pay any attention to reviews, its a fantastic lens and perfect on the X Pro, doesn't really intrude on the OVF and the rendering is sublime. AF is a little bit slow and noisy, but livewithable. Re: Pro4, lets see, the version 3 has been out of production for a while now and the focus seems to be on the unobtainable X100 V1. Normally when they continue a line, the old model drops out either just before the new release or maybe a bit after, they don't usually throw multi year gaps between releases.

Wish I could find such deals in Australia. Just one of my FD lenses would have been about AUS$150 Be nice to have some of the older L lenses but they fetch a high price.
