My Favorite Way To Practice Doublestrokes, Upstrokes+Downstrokes w'One Pad Exercise (one take)
Just a brief, late-night quick-dive into an exercise I've used for years to get the best control over my doubles that I can, and I'm still improving. Is it one you use? Where did you hear about it first?

I've mentioned this in a few videos but haven't managed to start any conversations yet, heh. Do linguistic phrases ever trigger musical memories for you? Or, other way around? I'm really beat up from bad seizures and pretty haggard- sorry bout that. Happy Halloween! 😊 #drums #practice #epilepsy
Brief Talk About Terminology ('notes' vs. 'strokes') With Example
มุมมอง 4914 วันที่ผ่านมา
As I've gotten older and had more time to meet other drummers and talk about it technically, I've found that terminology is often a big hiccup in the learning process. Here I went into the way we often confuse 'stroke' with 'note' when we're discussing mechanics and sticking. Example at 1:15. My signature *quiet* flams are an added bonus, heh 😊💚🎶 #drums #lesson #practice

Please watch! I think this is a fairly common misunderstanding we have with each other, and epilepsy has made it really overwhelming for me sometimes. Has it come up for you with friends family? Please share your experience, we need to get heard 😊💜 #disability #epilepsy #communication #drums

You are good buddy. I enjoyed it.

Really nice, man.

Everything is 4/4 if you try hard enough
Thank you for sharing! There are people who care. 🙏🏻
The algorithm knows me
But yeah man you get it, sound guys will always appreciate you lol that’s for sure. I was hoping this video was going to be about low-level gigs where you share a kit with all the other bands on the bill. That’s a whole political situation in itself lol, always “fun” to deal with
Thats the dumbest way ive ever heard to describe a beat
that means a lot to me 😊
Yes, and I always bring my own bass drum pedal, too.
I like to have my own pedal too, and some bands have grumbled about it, like I'm snobby for taking 30sec to switch it out while they tune, lol
@@jasper36 Yes, there are so many individualized settings different drummers are used to with their pedal. High spring tension or loose, etc... also, you are so right about the cymbals as well. The variation in cymbal types completely changes how u play them. A thin jazz ride with rivets is completely different than a thick ride for heavy metal, etc. Snares too of course.
Insane.
Nice to see another open handed drummer in the wild!. Good chops too
That's just right.
YES SIIIIIR
Cool groove man! ❤
As always man, really enjoyable.
That was some seriously funky shit
So you achieve polyrhythms using flams?
Thanks! I think you're referring to a clip I posted of a practice pad idea using *quiet* flams for a textural variation, which allows for polyrhythms to be accomplished on a practice pad.
Maybe, and even here when you come down on the snare, I hear a flam, no? Anyway, by approaching the delayed notes as flams did it for me. Maybe I should record me playing and post it. I started playing the drums at 15. I would practice 4-5 hours a day. I was touring with the big boys and even had 5 students (2 of them are still playing). At 17 I saw a band playing at the local high school concert, and although I was hearing the drums, which was the cleanest I ever heard, I couldn't see neither the drums nor the drummer. Then I found out that they were using a drum machine and something broke inside of me. I felt helpless and disappointed :) I stopped playing the drums after this. The year was 1986 and I was in the army. Of course that was stupid of me and there was no one who could explain. Only 5 years ago, after seeing one of my photos which was taken during the concert , I realised how much I missed the drums. So I got myself a set and been enjoying it tremendously since I found out that I did not lose my skills, however, I need to practice more. That's my story and felt like sharing it. Thanks.
As I said, lately I've been working on polyrhythms and I never heard your approach, i.e. seeing them as bunch of flams. Approaching it with the way you explained made it reality easier to grasp them.
Wow man, I am glad I found your channel. This is what I was looking for. Nice.
This is one of the best and enjoyable beats I've heard lately. After watching you, I played this for a long time and tried to make it as clean and effortless as you. Thank you.
people with no rhythm might mistake this as unimpressive, but you're incredibly on time with those tiny little numbers! amazing!
Wow, thank you! Hope your week's been groovy so far 😊
Cool vid I sub
poop
Great feel bro, thanks

You killin' it man!
that was awesome

#DipoleElectronFloodTheory I’ve been saying since 2013 that it seems extremely (Occam's Razor) obvious that all electrons and all photons are in orbit with a dark matter particle and I’ve shared my theory literally many thousands of times with hundreds of the world’s top physics universities, professors, labs, channels, etc. Based on Fermilab, CERN and other recent findings, I now more specifically think electrons are made of an electron neutrino entangled in orbit with a dark matter muon neutrino, explaining their erratic orbits around nuclei, superposition, uncertainty, the double slit, etc just like I’ve been saying since 2013. And I think when the electron neutrino gets entangled with the muon neutrino it creates the Higgs field. I think when an electron gets a 2nd muon neutrino, it’s what we call a Tau particle and I think photons are a pair of electrons entangled in orbit together in apparent axial or helical polarizable wave-like movement depending on the direction of their rotation as they travel. This explains string theory, the double slit experiment, uncertainty, superposition, etc and the speed of the rotation explains electromagnetic wavelengths. It also explains ‘’the ultraviolet catastrophe’’ with the separation of the electron and muon neutrinos due to the higher energy. I also think protons and neutrons are actually made up of over 1,800 electrons with the muon neutrinos likely all clustered in the center surrounded by the same number of electron neutrinos. ‘’If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.’’ -- Nikola Tesla #WaveParticleDuality #TheoryOfEverything
Thank you! I just learned a lot- got some new terms+names to read about. I really enjoy that Tesla quote. I might talk about this more, maybe make some music with more focus on the similarities to particle function/physics. I'm inspired 🖖
luv u 2 <3
Breaking records.
😂
Don’t herta yourself
Nice groove!
Thanks a lot!
Gotta keep working at it bro 💥 Don't underestimate the power of rudiment and other foundational practice ✨️
Most definitely!
Clicked only because I thought it was a rare video of Dave Grohl
I swear this isn't an old video of Dave Grohl that I hijacked for views. Like, I promise! And please don't give anyone the idea... OK?

I'm sorry, that sounds very unpleasant 😢
Kept time like a clock! Solid playing
Lalo Schifirin drummer
I love this, and that you keep it as a take, with mistakes. Helps me feel better than when watching all the other online drummers keeping mistakes out of their video.
As somewhat of a beginner drummer this is what I struggle with.
I think that was cool and genuine that your actually learning this and well not embarrassed to just do it It’s not that easy to do Moving it around the drums is even harder You may wanna watch Thomas Lang do this type of groupings You may even throw away your sticks afterwards lol I sure felt like that way Keep drumming buddy !!!
Awesome
You know what, you've inspired me to take a step back and go back to the exercises I first did when I started playing. Appreciate the video and the openness man
nice work. takes time and patients.
Thank you! ✌️🥁
Very nice!
Getting tite!! I got one more tip from you (keep in mind I could take some tips from YOU in turn) It seems to me that you are holding the stick between your thumb and point finger ... try your thumb and middle finger instead. 😏
I haven't played my drums since September or October of last year, enjoy!
I hope you get to play again soon, I'm a fan! Good luck with everything
Jasper you are a wonderful🎉ful dynamic drummer much respect goes to you please show me some buddy rich patterns to practice on slow to fast show me some buddy rich thank you
you killed it
