I had one in a x6 i purchased when in a accident insurance company would not pay out said in the v5c 4seater and you can not change this be cause that seat conversion is not a recognised conversion and the lap belt is a big NO NO . In the end i lost £20k plus Be were

This would be very unsafe to put a lap belt with two 10 mm bolts and two big washers into a bracket that was made to hold a centre console !!!!!!!! what would happen in a crash with a child or even a grownup it would rip out. And your insurance company would not pay out because you v5c / log book says your x6 is a 4 seat car not a 5 seat car and Thatcham Insurance Tec, Would not class this as being safe Insurance approved conversion. And bmw x6 does not have the proper seat belt mountings until late 2012 when 5 th seat became a option on the bmw x6.
