1. You dont need to ruin a perfectly fine Mercury motor... 2. I don't doubt that a 2-stroke has a better torque than a 4-stroke, but usually US advertise is not to be trusted. A third party test would be much better. 3. The dumbest thing that has happened in the engine world the last decade is shutting down Evinrude. These motors where on the top 3 worldwide. Such a shame.

Fast forward a few years, Evenrude is out of business after a long failed and expensive fuel injection problems....bet everyone with that E-tec wishes they had the Mercury or Yamaha options now

Has anyone heard of an issue with the threads of the pump being bad right from the factory, am told they were overtightened and now not usuable. A dealer who is doing the 3 year warranty maintenance check advised me of this. Evinrude (2019) H.O. 150 HP.

All the complainers saying it’s not fair comparing a 2 stroke to a 4 stroke. That’s the point! Evinrude knew the other manufacturer were all going 4 stroke and this was to prove that the number on the motor maybe the same but it doesn’t mean the power is the same

try more like 2 stroke merc vs 2 stroke etec and this test will be more even and precise. Etec may be dissapointed with result.

This hasn't aged well for Evinrude. We all benefit from the competition, but if this engine does it all, where is it today.

If OMC still owned Evinrude, I'd still see made in USA 🇺🇸 not made in Canada and they would still be in business today, EVINRUDE is supposed to be a USA product but since the Canadians started making them they lost value in the US market thus death of Evinrude 🤧

It hits max hp 2000 rpms earlyer the mercury Maybe cuz it has lessen hp

For the same horsepower = 2 strokes or 4 strokes still produce the same horsepower = but 2 strokes consume more gas = 2 strokes has lower efficiency than 4 strokes

It's none sense the way you talk about 2 trokes vs 4 strokes related to horse powers output

I think if they redesigned the etec to improve reliability and durability they will have a very good product to offer.
