I KNOW YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HAVE A FAVORITE IN A FAMILY SINGING GROUP, BUT, BEN IS MY FAVORITE SPEER, BECAUSE OF HIS UNIQUE AND ONE OF A KIND SINGING VOICE!

I DISCOVERED THIS KIND OF MUSIC 🎵🎶 QUITE LITERALLY, BY ACCIDENT! IN 1997, I WAS GOING SOMEWHERE WITH MY GRANDMOTHER AND MY COUSIN. I FELL, AND FRACTURED MY ANKLE, AND, I WAS OUT OF ACTION FOR 12 WEEKS, AND WAS IN 3 DIFFERENT CASTS. I WAS FLIPPING THROUGH THE CHANNELS, AND, I STOPPED ON TBN, AND, SAW BILL AND GLORIA GAITHER'S "PRECIOUS MEMORIES" PROGRAM. THE SPEERS WERE SINGING A SONG, IN WHICH BEN LACY SPEER WAS THE LEAD SINGER. I SAID,"WHO IS THAT?" THE MORE I LISTENED AND WATCHED, I BECAME HOOKED. I MET HIM AFTER 2 CONCERTS IN LUBBOCK, TEXAS! HE WAS SO WONDERFUL AND SWEET TO ME! HE TOOK A TOTAL OF 20 MINUTES COMBINED AFTER BOTH CONCERTS TO ENCOURAGE AND MENTOR ME! I WILL NEVER FORGET HIM FOR THAT!

I was blessed to hear this very group at college when I was at Liberty Baptist College in the early 80s. I have this very cassette!!

Awesome talented men of God. It was always a treat to go to local area churches in eastern Maine to hear them live, singing unto to Lord! Sunday afternoon concerts and smorgasboard at Camp Living Waters was extra special when they were there. They used pack the rustic tabernacle out. Standing room only, usually.

What a blessing to hear the Gospelaires again. We were so blessed to have heard them live in local churches around eastern Maine. And at Camp Living Waters in Danforth, Maine. Sunday afternoon concerts and smorgasboard at Living Waters was the best.

What a blessing to find the Gospelaires on TH-cam. Hearing tgeir music again brings back so many memories. We used follow them to different churches in our local area in eastern Maine, when we knew they were there. A former pastor (Wendel Calder, now an evangelist) of our church, (Charlotte Baptist Church, Charlotte, Maine) introduced them to our area many years ago. He had first heard them at the bible college he attended, ( New Brunswick Bible Institute, around Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada).

The "stand up base" really makes a difference in the richness of the bass sound. So much richer and fuller sounding than an electric bass, even though the sound quality of the whole recording is not top notch, you call really tell the difference in the bass sound.

Thank you so much! Millard Mitchell was my father. I am so proud of who he was as a man. it's great to have him and Uncle Irvine, Bill, Stan, Art, Pat and Ghernot remembered in this way.

Anyone know if Margie Steen was a Gospelaire back in the 70s? She was my music teacher in grade 5/6 Priestman Street School. I do believe she was but not totally sure.

I love their arrangement of Love Lifted Me.

This is my favorite album they recorded. Hearing the Gospelaires again brings back such memories and such a blessing.

I am so glad you have uploaded these albums on TH-cam. I am from the Calais, Maine area and the Gospelaires from Fredericton, NB were a huge part of my youth. I saw them live in many churches in eastern Maine quite often. An evangelist by the name of Wendell Calder introduced them to my hometown area after he Graduated from NBBI (New Brunswick Bible Institute) My hometown church was Mr. Calders first Pastorate. He founded a Christian camp called Living Waters, near Danforth, Maine. When the Gospelaires were there, it was always an extra special Sunday. I saw the original group for the last time in the early 90s. They got together for a reunion concert at the Fredericton Labor Exhibition, what a blessing it was. I believe they have all gone on to be with the LORD now, but their music and their testimony will be remember always.

Thank you to "R Steeves" for uploading all these albums of The Gospelaires. I gave my life to Christ at the age of 13 at a crusade by blind evangelist Al Crocker and the Gospelaires were there with Him at the Litchfield Fairgrounds. "I Am Resolved" became the theme song of my life. A year or two later my family was invited to NB to visit Mr. LaPointe at his home, I'm fairly sure it was during one of his terms as mayor. God Bless You 'R Steeves' for allowing me to remember with great fondness that time of my life. I am now an American Baptist Pastor (between churches at the moment) God bless the families of the Gospelaires
