Riding in shorts says more about you than your review says about this bike. I cannot take anyone that rides in shorts seriously. Read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. Everyone, especially men should have some level of mechanical knowledge.
Wow, I'm glad you made this video and gave an honest review about the bike, because I feel absolutely the same! I too have this bike. I actually have a 2023 rs version. But I see now the issues are still the same. And if that's the case, I guess nobody including Triumph sees your negative as any real issues with the bike at all. I too have gone back to my local Triumph dealership to ask the manager to take the bike for a spin because I don't feel comfortable with the brakes either. I feel like the back and front seem to compress against the disk and slide when fully engaged. And the front brake seems to grind as if the paddle were already worn down. Yet, the manager said that's the way they are and are meant to be. I have a 2022 bobber also. And the brakes feel much more better and reliable to me. And yes the locking of the handle bars suck IMO also. It should be effortless for the money bro. Not wiggle the ket around a bit to get it to lock. I feel that will inevitably bend the damn key. Also since I have that bikini fairing kit you have also...it comes with lower risers that drop the clipons lower as opposed to above the tank the way the bike comes stock. I know it's a more original cafe racer thing...but the mechanic never asked me if I wanted to change from the original style and now it's less comfortable. You have to get used to it though. But combined with the rare set pegs, the shape of the seat and added new clipons...it makes it more uncomfortable and causes me to slide around on the seat too much. I guess after I get used to it, I will really be glad I have it. Other than that the bike is an amazing machine period! It absolutely drips for a Caferacer and I don't regret anything about the purchase. It's just a bit more intense when comparing it to the Moto Guzzi 750 V7 racer I traded in for it. I thought they would be similar other than the engine displacement. But these bikes are completely night and day! But yeah great review and thanks for keeping it 1000 about your experience bro. Stay safe out there man!!! 😎👍
I have the same bike as you and have the same brake issue. Bled the brakes which made no difference. Had a ducati scrambler Cafe racer before this bike. It had Brembo brakes and I had no issue with it. Crazy.
Exactly your spec(physically) and wasn’t sure if this bike was too OP for me. Thanks for your insights!
Phenomenal video!
Anything you have a passion for never settle
Nice video....usa must be quite lenient re what u can buy as a first bike.... 1200cc is a lot of power for a newbie and I agree with other commentators re the brakes....not normal....I have this same bike BTW.....they bite fine!
There are no limitations for buying motorcycles in USA as a whole.
That's nice ThruxtonR. There is a few Black color. I bought 2016 red one. upload my video someday.
Could have air in your brake lines?
Oh someone else has said the same
Upgrade to hel braided lines would be a huge difference too. Night and day with my suzuki.
YOU HAVE GOOD BIKE I LOVED CAFE RACER G THE BEST
Seem like fun, haven't been riding much since I moved to chuck town, definitely cant wait for the summer.
Great looking and sounding bike! You seem to have the bike for one of the main reasons to get a TTR - because you love it. As to touring with this bike, I do 400-800km day rides with it and find it comfortable - that is with right body position - loose arms and use the knees. With the wrong body position, my wrists hurt within 20 minutes of riding, maybe even 10. I see your body absorbing alot of the road; this could be one of your issues that causes pain. The other ... I don't think this is a great city bike (although I do use it to commute). It's a bike that wants to ride twisty roads, and is more comfortable when being ridden a bit harder. Would be good to see another review after you have a bit more experience under the belt.
Boom!
@@nothinghere1996 don't lower the bars, and use the knees to stabilise while riding. It's not a Harley riding position
switch to the radial master and problem solved .
Very strange about your brake. I have a 2016 TT, no issues with brakes. You might need a front reservoir re-build. I don't have the brembos and mine stops on a dime.
you are worried about safety, you say, citing the brakes, but wearing a t shirt and shorts? what gives?
Mike Mc Allister that’s the truth
Nice headers Yo. REMUS!
Shorts?
spongy is a symptom of air in the brake line, needs a good bleeding. otherwise, enjoyed the video, bike is a looker
Rode a Street Triple for 500 miles, was too small for my stature. Tried a Triumph Bobber, felt too "oldmanish". Now considering a Speed Triple or a Thruxton R. Which one would you advise?
It's wild as fuck seeing you cruise right by my house LOL
Get yourself some decent "protective" riding clothes unless you like the idea of looking like a skinless chicken if and when you come off
By the way, I think you linked the wrong fender eliminator for the newer Thruxton. Our bikes take this one.. www.amazon.com/Triumph-Thruxton-Fender-Eliminator-Kit/dp/B01MFBVALZ/ref=pd_sbs_263_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01MFBVALZ&pd_rd_r=70c0cd97-cd63-11e8-bdc5-8929d75e6129&pd_rd_w=nV8kI&pd_rd_wg=fdrVk&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=7d5d9c3c-5e01-44ac-97fd-261afd40b865&pf_rd_r=CA10NBHYT0W4XH7W0EHD&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=CA10NBHYT0W4XH7W0EHD
Hopefully you've had the bike looked at and had the brakes serviced by now. They shouldn't be soft at all. Mine are absolutely perfect. Progressive and easy to control but no doubt, they have immediate and amazing stopping power when needed. About the key, turn it to the off position and stop there. Press the key into the ignition, let it back out, and then continue to turn it to Lock. Not sure why it's that way, but it's smooth and easy to do once you get into the habit.
Awesome to see you are from the Charleston area. I was at Skyfield today. Where do you fly around Charleston? I need to meet pilots from this area.
Your first bike and you have an opinion about what a good first bike is and the riding characteristics of this particular bike? You're cracking me up dude! Having issues with your brakes? Probably not using them correctly is my guess or you don't have them adjusted correctly. You bought an advanced bike, not what anyone who has been riding a long time would suggest to a new rider. You don't understand the suspension and brakes, how to adjust them and what those adjustments will do to your riding style. If your front brake is "spongy" on that bike, you absolutely have it calibrated wrong. The brakes on that bike are simply AMAZING! You should have instant response on those! I can see you riding your brakes CONSTANTLY! You probably have them heated up so much they are spongy. Get your darn fingers off your brakes until you need them! Learn to ride a much less advanced bike before getting something of this calibre. I know you probably won't read this because you haven't responded to anyone here, but please take a riding class and learn how to adjust and use your brakes properly before you get yourself killed!
You right 👍🏻
Ok, the solution is this: turn ignition off, bars to the left, press key in and release, THEN turn to lock position. (Carefully read owners manual it will confirm). As for your brake, try tightening a cable tie to lever and grip for a day or two. It sorted my wifes spongy T100 brake, was like night and day. Good luck
I have the same exact bike (2017 triumph thruxton 1200 r) my brakes are exactly as you described. I expected better from Brembo. I intend to try bleeding. Beyond that ????? If you find solution please post
What up Dr bowtie! SavGa here!
very very nice man... love the fender eliminator kit thing... How u feel it is cornering? I read/hear its really nice going straight but its not that nice in corners.... any thoughts on this?
Im 45 and love the Cafe style bikes. Thinking about gettlng one.
Get the brake bleed
First motorcycle? Right on!
Haha. I like how my Dad made the credits as ground support.
We need to work on your wing to shoe color coordination. Your game is a little weak. Besides that, good job brother.
