As a Finn, I understand the importance of hearing an apology. Even 500 years late is better than never. We still hold a grudge against the Swedes for conquering us and trying to force us to forget the Finnish language. The fact that they won't even admit this ever happened just makes it worse. A mere acknowledgment of the matter and an apology by the state would be enough for us. We don't ask for anything else. The word Gender when I went to school was to differentiate nouns such as La rose - feminine gender, or Le maison, masculine gender. Period.
