Episode 109 on Type 2 Diabetes Reversal with Sami Inkinin @VirtaHealth
In this Episode I welcome on Sami Inkinen CEO of Virta Health to discuss Virta Health's approach to Type 2 Diabetes reversal'
Virta Health utilizes a continuous remote care intervention (CCI) that incorporates individualized carbohydrate restriction, health coaching, and telemedicine to manage and reverse Type 2 Diabetes
We cover topics such as:
Impact of individualized carbohydrate restriction:
The role of the patient-provider relationship:
Addressing quality of food
The Virta change model:
GLP-1 Receptor agonists as a bridge:
Sustainable solutions require addressing nutrition:
Research Findings of Virta's approach.
Long-Term Effects of CCI: A 2-year non-randomized clinical trial published in Frontiers in Endocrinology showed significant and sustained improvements in multiple clinical markers of diabetes and cardiometabolic health in the CCI group compared to the UC (usual care) group . These included reductions in HbA1c, fasting glucose and insulin, weight, blood pressure, triglycerides, and liver alanine transaminase . The CCI group also saw higher rates of diabetes reversal and remission .
GLP-1 Deprescription: A recent study published in Diabetes Therapy explored the impact of discontinuing GLP-1 agonists in patients who had successfully integrated Carb-Restriction Nutrient Therapy (CRNT) supported by Virta's telemedicine model . The study found that patients did not experience weight regain after stopping GLP-1 medications, and while HbA1c levels increased slightly, they generally remained below the diagnostic threshold for diabetes

The problem that I have with my local MCAS doctor is with those blood - urine tests they want you to take the antihistamines to see if it stops the reactions. And if it does stop it then they say you have the MCAS. But all the over the counter antihistamines contain corn derivatives and I am reacting to corn derivatives! So I get blocked before even doing the test. How can more corn stop a reaction from other corn??? Makes no sense! Plus they only test the blood once. They do not get a base number like this doctor says. Have hEDS too...

I can't tolerate any probiotics or Fermented foods even if my GI map shows I'm lacking tons of gut microbiome. Is this better tolerated or will cause any issues like probiotics and Fermented foods? Pretty much I have severe histamine intolerances due to disbiosis.

  • @Needless2say
    @Needless2say 24 วันที่ผ่านมา

If I may suggest? I am not a Dr so these are my personal opinions. Andy Cutler Phd (Princeton Chemist) has a great protocol for chelation of heavymetals. His book if its still available, is called the "the? " Mecury Detoxification Manual" he also gives a do and dont food list high and low in sulphur thiols. These thiols can provoke (stir up) existing heavymetals they only have a single bond (hook) to grab on to these metals. Because there is a single bond that can be seperated or knocked loose. This isn't good. A good chelator has two bonds like ALA,DMSA, etc. These chelators have two chemical bonds so they are more stable. Taking bentonite clay or other binders help to isolate it and bind up the bile so you body doesn't reabsorb them in the GI tract after leaving the liver/gall bladder. Also Chris Shade Phd is also a good detoxification specialist who has videos on yt.

We are familiar with the term Selective Estrogen Response Modulator (SERM) and phytoestrogen but not familiar with the term of an herb actually making estrogen (ie. estrogenic); please clarify for sake of clarity. I know this was from 2 yrs ago but it would be great to get a diagram or written something about the magic school bus journey of what happens in the body. Is it safe to assume that ppl with HSD have the same things that go wrong in the body as EDS. I feel like HSD is the step-sister of EDS...though we may not have the exact joints that bend in various directions, we have other joints....but we tend to have most of the co-existing conditions. Also I have never had a dr talk to me about possible braces to wear so that the hand doesn't cramp up. (I was sent to someone to make a custom brace for that reason but the person had no idea about it. Come to find out there is actually a brace made for this very thing: Meta PUSH brace ($99 in US) There imitations but the plastic is not as flexible as the PUSH. There is YT channel about EDS with dr who sees patients in CO and WI. Can't remember her name. Since MCAS limits my interactions with the rest of the world (chemical intolerance) and gives me severe brain fog (memory issues, word finding, ADD like symptoms where attention can be held but tasks often take longer because steps are done out of order, start lots of things...have trouble finishing them)....are there any recommendations that anyone has found that helps calm the mast cells from reacting and helps get the brain to recover. Toxins, chemicals, pollution, bad indoor air, wildfire smoke, etc are all known causes for parkinsons and alzheimers. With mcas the toxins bridge the blood brain barrier and we all have the brain issues of an elderly person. Diagnosis with mcas is still a struggle...most drs say it is in immunology but when you have been there twice and they say "there is no way that you can have mcas"....yet they never asked about the other body systems affected. If only one center is available in certain parts of US, many of us can't afford to pay out of pocket to see someone and we would need to travel. With chemical intolerance, you can not find anywhere to stay that will not be scented. Scented poducts used to launder the bedding, towels, soaps. Air fresheners in walls under the bed. Scented workers cleaning the rooms...their scents linger. Previous guest could have sprayed perfume and now it is in the upholstery! Planes, buses...need to wear a respirator mask (think gas mask)...yeah that wont draw attention. Body mechanics question: hypothyroid...usually always cold in winter....but since having mcas...can not handle outdoor temps above 75° F. Why? I have heard this described as a typical mcas symptom...but what causes it? I sweat way, way, way too much and body overheats way too fast...thus I fatigue faster. Can anyone explain how this works? (I'm in WI so luckily we dont have the really hot temps...but we did start out with 90s in June this year. Highly unusual.

Heard UK’s Paul Clayton and his talk on microbiome on TH-cam talk about low weight antibiotic KIB500 an antibiotic that can get into any cell and has a low weight 80 instead of 500 weight most antibiotics have so doesn’t destroy your gut!! He couldn’t recall which American university was using this low weight antibiotic on “autoimmunes” and they were killed and patients got off their medicines. And they were told to eat healthy or they’d get leaky gut again and the autoimmune would return.

My wife and I moved out of a moldy house (to my mother inlaws basement) only to be exposed to more mold. I began using lots of suppliments and had to take them to get through the day. Stress for many different things made symptoms worse (that was 5 years ago. After finding some layent dental issues ( ioamt- biological dentests are the best) fast forward 5 years still taking 15 suppliments a day I found the rcp. The root cause protocol has droped my symtoms by 30% its only been 10 days. Thank you Morley.

I left that group in the end. I think cod liver oil made me ill in the long term after good short term results. Meri Arthur at Weak therefore strong on YT has done some work showing that vitamin a in supplements degrades to a toxin called anhydroretinol which is a mitochondrial toxicant.

Thank you for your input. If you could share resources or references on the Root Cause Protocol that would be helpful to listeners.

@@onethingpodcast Look up videos with "Morley Robbins" he has delved deep into the research to find and formulate his protocol. He has an amazing memory and cites many published articles reguarding how copper regulates the interaction of iron and oxygen. Copper is also used in the mitochondria in complex 1,3,4, and 5. He has been on numerous podcasts and some of those were Dr's podcasts like Dr Mercola for instance. You might hit him up and see if he will do yours.

This is not just a food poisoning issue. Vector borne disease is associated with sibo. I can personally say that my daughter and I both have alpha-gal Methane sibo, histamine I tolerance and intestinal permeability. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7834170/
