    Great example of an impromptu speech. Your delivery went great, the way you were able to think on the fly as you go from introduction to conclusion. 👏

    Sorry Chris, you absolutely do not want to use a sheet of paper as it becomes a major distraction to the audience as it is too large, and as you demonstrated in your video, you play with it which also becomes a distraction. Instead Chris, you absolutely want to use either a 3x5 or 5x7 note card. A large sheet of paper, as well, makes it difficult for you to gestures with the sheet as your gesture is small or limited.

    Sometimes I get in trouble because I don’t have good vocabulary, which means that sometimes I say stuff when speaking that doesn’t really flow well and makes me stutter. How can I get more vocab words for impromptu? Also I have trouble with my examples because mine tend to be basic and common, is there anyway I can search for more examples for common theses? Like examples for theses like “You gotta speak up for yourself” or watch what you say”

    What are some of the best hand gestures to use and how can I avoid using a hand gesture too much

    • @ChrisGurrie
      @ChrisGurrie 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There's a lot of discussion about hand gestures, but most folks agree if someone is working to slow the "overuse" down, they can carry a pen with them. This sometimes slows the batman fingers or overuse of the hands. Can work in the opposite too for pocket-uers.

    How do you make impromptu arguments what do they have to be like do they have to relate to what the topic is

    • @ChrisGurrie
      @ChrisGurrie 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey there John. What you see here is loosely based on a "unified analysis." Google that. The speaker makes a declarative statement (strawberry festival in Tampa is the place to be), then supports it with unified points to support the claim (typically called warrant, maybe evidence). Hope this answers your question.

    • @ChrisGurrie
      @ChrisGurrie 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry. Didn't mean to scare you. LOL. Probably a mix of being filmed on an iphone 6 and in a college classroom. Toastmasters is typically table-talk style with fewer people. You may be in a church or an office at 10am; there shouldn't be "screamy" moments. Your audience will shift based on the environment. Feel free to email me if you want help.
