We visited Pinnacles for the first time. We hiked a ~13 mile loop. Link below on the route. We parked in the west and went clockwise. It was springtime so lots of green and flowers. and condors. We went to Patagonia on March 1st, 2023! We stayed at Ecocamp and did their 9 day circuit! Technically it’s 7 days of actual trekking.. It was about 80 miles of trekking. We got quite the variety of weather too. We had a group of 12 with two guides and 6 porters. We only carried our food, water, and layers of clothes. It was awesome and our group, guides, and porters were the best! Highly recom...

    Hello! Thanks for sharing this video. We will be doing the O circuit at the end of February 2024. We will not have a guide, so it will definitely be a different experience. But, can you share the approx. time it took you to complete each daily portion of the hike? If any, what are the recommended "start" times each day (5 a.m., 6 a.m.), but especially for the longest stretches? Thanks!

    • @FoolishlyPatient
      @FoolishlyPatient 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello.. I added my Strava recordings to the video description which have the start time of each day as well as how long they took. Take a look! On our trip they had us alternating between hard days and easy days. At the glacier, we left pretty late that day to allow for kayaking activities to the glacier. Plus that day's hike is the shortest and easiest one. Good luck! It's amazing.

    Baldwin is the WORST! I installed their commercial grade mortise lockset around 1987, now internals are worn out so I got a replacement cartridge. First step of course is remove the levers. There is a hole that looks like one would use a hex wrench to remove the screw-like EVERY OTHER lockset/handle hardware. But no, no hex wrench engages so I emailed their customer support and there is a "special spanner" and they don't make it anymore. Huh, so 30 years out, when these units are failing, and your wrench is proprietary, you decide to "no longer carry it". Wow, it must cost a nickel to inventory little set screw wrenches! For what you pay for these you would think customer support would exist. To rub salt in the wound the guy sent me a PDF diagram-"here, this might help". Except it's not remotely the same as mine even though I sent him model number AND PICTURES! Just astounded that Baldwin is run like this. Don't buy their high end, expensive mortise locksets-they will wear out and leave you hanging!

    I just bought 3 Baldwin Reserve privacy knobs. The written instructions say that the front and back plates (that slide onto the latch assembly) should “snap together.” I can’t get them to snap together without bending the thinner plate. Can simply lining them up and setting the screws into the door do the trick?

  • @farmsteader3533

    You did a great job explaining and showing the installation! Baldwin gets a minus ten on the instructions. I would like to see their executives install just using their documents. Installing mine in 2019 and you have to install the latch bar the knobs mount to before installing the inside and outside adapter. Advise you keep the special screw driver for changing, tightening, etc in the future. You can use a carpenter folding rule to determine the correct placement of the strike plate. Use the end with the sliding extender on the rule. With the door closed place the end of the rule against latch and mow the slide to the back of the door to get the distance for the latch to rest against the inside of the strike plate. Mine measured 15/16” and I used 1”. I use toothpicks and glue to fill a hole to move a plate.

    I picked up a number of the Baldwin solid brass locksets at the Restore in Jackson, WY a number of years ago when I worked NE of there. Stuff came out of some million/billionaire's place. These were intended for using in my home when I built it. However, now that I am retired I have a open floor plan with only one door, the bathroom. I still can use all the solid brass draw and cabinet knobs. I figured most of the lockset out but I was flummoxed on the locking system. Your video was immensely helpful in figuring that out. Plus the printing goes up on the latch assembly. It seems I am missing the button that screws into the locking mechanism and will have to see if I can get one from Baldwin, or jerry rig a replacement. Thanks a bunch.

    • @FoolishlyPatient

      David Todd I drove for several months. It got louder over time. Check out the forum post in the description of the video for details. Fixed it myself once I had the right parts and tools. Kind of a pain but not expensive.

    • @DT-kl7uf
      @DT-kl7uf 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      FoolishlyPatient I really appreciate all the info you've given me. Unfortunately I never done any car work so not sure I would try to mess with that task. I had one guy told me it's okay to drive on it for a little bit and another guy said it would warp my manifold.... And I probably need another one anyway. Not sure who to trust but I can see the bolt shaking.

    • @FoolishlyPatient
      @FoolishlyPatient 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Todd in my opinion the guy telling you it’ll warp your manifold is not to be trusted. That’s not true. You can drive on it as long as you like. It’s not harming anything other then you’re probably losing a little power and over time I expect that it’ll get noisier and worse as the exhaust manifold gasket fails further. You may see more black sot around the area where it’s leaking too. Any repair is likely mostly labor as the parts are cheap. I bet if you shop around you can find someone who will repair it at a reasonable price. It took me a half day to do and I’m a relative amateur. Good luck!
