Its nice to hear your thoughts on Bhutan, I hope overall it was a fun trip. When it comes to GNH, it is true that the people dont really have much to say if they’re asked about it. It’s almost as if the people dont know anything about it but the thing is that its not something that they know about but rather something that they live through. It is not like GNH was created and then implemented on the country but rather the ideas of GNH already existed amongst the traditional communities and then those ideas were picked up and packaged into this digestible concept. So asking the people about it is basically like asking them why they are right or left handed. They are clearly either one of it but they dont know why and it doesnt matter to them to know why because thats how its been their whole lives and its been working so far. Overall I can say that Bhutan is a very lite version of Japan. A lot of the values of Bhutan align with Japans (minus the overly patriarchal culture). Not to imply anything here but you will definitely see this similarity in the social etiquettes and the social systems.
