I have the same Savanelli Ottagono, mine is numbered 22. Great smoking pipe, I use it in the mornings at work, great draw with filter and without. Craftmanship on the pipe is superb!

How long that we should rest it, from the first smoke to another smoke?

I wonder what is inside of that lighter. Its probably the same regulator as the ST Dupont Line 2 clone. Any chance you would make a video taking the regulator out and showing the valve? Like taking the bottom doors off and taking the screw out and seeing whats under it. Thanks for showing

Yikes. I'm sure it looks nice but finish on the inside of the bowl is a no for me... Was going to pick one up but I guess not. For me $40 more is worth not smoking varnish

I have bought several on ebay from a guy who rebuilds them, all new rubber, ultrasonicly cleaned. Great. It's all they sell. 60s 70s 80s etc. Not sure why you have trouble finding them. About 150 usd

Just take that top piece off the chimney, boss. The tolerances are really tight on these. The added benefit is that you can use the Zippo pipes and other stuff, it just won't be windproof anymore.

Have smoked cob a long time ago, I always suggest to anyone who wants to start piping to start with a cob. Cobs certainly do offer a great smoke at a low price.

That is an early 2000s Grabow. I collect them. I have some from WW2 to the early 2000s.

You mentioned watching some video drilling out that stem on the cobbit. I’m a filter smoker (takes care of so many issues for me) and just bought some forever stems, only to be sadly disappointed that they are NOT drilled out for filters (despite being fitted for MM cobs that have filters). I’m determined to drill them out. Could you please share the video that helped instruct you on how to best do that? I also have the Shire Cobbit and would also like to do that one.

That's a historical replica. That's why that particular style has not changed.

This is a good looking design for sure, but the one I got, the bit was loose in the shank, the finish was rough (as has been every MM pipe I’ve bought this year) and uneven. It looked slapped together with excess glue all over it. It’s a shame how the quality control seems to have gotten away from them. Having said all that, it is a corn cob and smokes well.

Just discovered your channel, saw in the comments a gent asked about flints for a st dupont clone, but your reply was either removed or for some other reason unable to be seen. I would also like to know what you recommend for those.

Mine has been working since purchase 3 months ago. Time will tell. It feels like it's make from Zamak (or similar zinc alloy). If you need a cigar torch, check out their Jizz line ;)

Nice lighter. I am planning to get a pipe lighter around that price range. Rattray's have the best look among the Peterson and Savinelli lighters. So how was your experiences with this lighter? Is it still in good condition and working? Do you recommend it?

Very nice collection. I am not quite 2 months into my pipe journey and have been doing a lot of research. I’ve actually acquired several different types, but I tried to make sure that I am getting decent ones even if they are estate pipes. Appreciate you sharing and your reviews.

I have the same lighter and have had it couple of years now and it’s in daily use with no issues at all. I also use a zippo as I usually smoke my pipes outdoors and the slightest breeze stops it from lighting and blows the flame out, unlike the zippo

A year on....how are you getting on with the pipe Sir. I have just bought 3 Trafalgar Barlings. A bent Rhodesian, a bulldog and a bent. They all smoke really nicely on a first smoke. Back on a pipe after 15 years off!! So I have dug out all my old pipes and I'm putting them back into service. I started tonight on my Peterson "Sherlock Holmes " range that I bought mid 80's. My Mr Brog Corona copy with pipe shapes on it is OK, but just OK. The only diff is the inlet for fuel is under a screw cap. I don't think it's closing the outlet well enough to stop butane from slowly escaping. Wish the tamper had a screw driver head.

If you play the video at 1.75x speed it sounds normal speed.

I recommend wathcing the video at 1.75 video speed.

Thanks, good video. I have a number of Brighams and they are a superb pipe. The filters are maple but the pipes smoke fine without one if you prefer. They were made in Canada but my understanding is that they are now made in Italy. Great value and quality. I like them as well as my Petersons.

Have you ever seen Vermont Freehand Forever Stems? They make nice acrylic replacement stems for cobs similar to the higher end cobs like these. So if u have some plastic equipped cobs you dont like, you can upgrade them and put them back into the rotation.

I bought that exact lighter about 3 months ago and it's gotten a lot of use. Refilled it twice and replaced the flint twice. So far it's been flawless. Only thing I dislike about it is that it's slippery in the hand. I agree with you about the lack of a pipe tool. More room for fuel. Not too worried about the valve cover. Any dust that gets in there will probably get blown out when you purge the lighter. Using Kiribi flints in it.

Instead of drilling the stem for a 6 mm filter, isn't there enough room in the shank of the corn cob pipe to put a 9 mm charcoal filter instead? 1 I did this with my corn cob and it seems to work fine so far and its 9 mm instead of 6 mm.

I just bought a Kiribi Kenshi. After giving it a once-over, I gently tightened the hinge screw on the cap lever, then filled it with Xikar Puropfine butane. I have let it sit for the past 6 days, to see if it leaks any butane; lighting it a few times per day, to make sure it still works. So far, so good. The real test will come when I start using it for its intended purpose of lighting my pipes. I’ll just keep an eye on the hinge screw and flint wheel screw, and tighten when needed. This lighter will never be carried in my pocket, only my pipe pouch on occasion, and staying in my home the rest of the time. It’s saddens me that the US distributor treated you like a chump, and whoever you purchased your lighter from, didn’t refund you your money. On a side note, it looks like whoever actually manufactures Kiribi lighters, also markets them in Europe, under the Tsubota-Pearl brand. If you look at their lighters, they are identical to the Kiribi line, only with “Pearl” engraved on the bottom plate, instead of “Kiribi”. They also use different names for the individual models of lighters; for instance, my Kenshi is called the Bolbo. You may want to contact them, and see what they could do for you.
