Lovely! Is that a plain weave?
It's twill
What is the yarn?
Wonderful to watch. I have the same loom except with noisy, metal heddles. How are you keeping track of the number of throws of the shuttle...just by how it looks? I lose track after about 4 throws.
I am so excited to have found your channel and website! I have just purchased a vintage, NZ-made 4 shaft table loom and am so excited to get into weaving after a lifetime of wanting to. Do you have a weaving for beginners course?
What beautiful colours. I spent most of this morning and afternoon sleying a 12.5 dent heddle for my 16 inch loom at my weaving group. I was not silent when I found I'd missed a slot about 1/3 along when warping up, despite my pattern appearing correct, but I went back and fixed the problem, only to find I'd threaded a slot twice 2/3rds along and had to refix it all again. Bad words were spoken! At least tonight I can get on with the weaving.
Beautiful weaving.
Thank you! 😊
How do you thread the heddles for a 15 dent reed/plain weave?
Very helpful information about how to sett for a weaving project.
Thank you Felicia!! 😁
This is just what i need. Most of my scarfs are too rigid. Ill save this for when i have more time to weave. Thank you.
Erased my comment, huh GoogleChan...I suppose since you and your brilliant AI have no idea about the subject matter, just go ahead and delete it, ya dummies. AND...this is why some of us DO NOT use this God FORSAKEN publisher!
جميل جداً 💐❤️
Thanks for all your videos. I really love the open bottom boat shuttles, ashford makes a nice slim one, check it out. The open bottom hold a bit more yarn and nice to have the option of stopping them on the bottom, if that makes sense. Cheers
I enjoy all my Ashford products. My first loom was the Ashford original 16 inch loom, which remains my favourite loom. I also have a 24 inch rigid heddle loom and a 24 inch Ashford 8 shaft loom. Agree with your comments about those levers. So easy to use. I have stands for all of them, and double heddle holders for the rigid heddle looms. My spinning wheel is the Ashford Joy. My 2025 goal is to spin yarn to weave on my rigid heddle loom. I'm a new spinner, been weaving for several years.
16:40 If those elastics were easily removed from both the connection points, I wonder if the beater would then rotate completely out of the way? In other words, find the solution for the elastics and how they attach? Very instructive, thank you.
If the reed is removeable you can just take it out to thread your heddles.
I found the nylon beam ratchets on my Ashford Rigid Heddle to be very hard to use for my arthritic hands and so avoid the Ashford loom products now in general. The other parts were not a problem.
Really excited for this channel. I have a kromski Harp and just purchased a Schacht baby wolf floor loom. I'm really looking forward to learning how to use both of these lovely looms, especially for historical reenactment textiles using linen and wool.
LisaR : I'd like to change my baby wolf to teslov .I recall you in the process for your own baby wolf? Several years ago ? Yet..almost sure you had to finesse ( with added weight?) Your weaving courses at School of Sweet Georgia are a great resource :))
شكرا لك ابي هذا النول ولكني في السعودية ❤
What if you put small cup hooks or pigtail screws in to attach one end or the other of the elastic so it could easily be detached to swing the beater up out of the way?
Seeing this video on 12/15/24 and not having either a rigid heddle or 4-harness loom, it's doubtful that I could really participate in this. But it does give me an idea for a table-weaving project... :)
It would have been nice if you'd included a little weaving demo just to finish off the video. Thank you, though, for an informative product review.
Thank you for this video. Happy holidays 🎄! Happy creating 💚🧶🩷
Would you please let me know whether all parts (including hardwood beech) are unfinished or only the plywood ones? I like this loom, and am thinking about to buy but I would like to paint it to a much darker brown. Do you think it is possible? Thank you for help and the great video!
All the parts are unfinished. I found the plywood parts were quite rough. It took some work to get a nice finish. Painting it is definitely possible. I painted my grey, then rubbed the edges back to expose the wood. I then decoupaged it with some cool artwork, and finished it with a satin varnish. It looks awesome and is a great piece of furniture by itself. It’s definitely worth the money. 😊
@ Thank you so much for your help! Your loom must be an amazing piece of art. Though I want a simple dark brown, it would be great to see your masterpiece! 👍🙂 Ildikó (sorry, my accounts a bit confusing but I am the one who asked the question. Thanks again.)
Rub the wood with a crumpled brown packing paper. It will smooth out the finish.
I have been thinking of this loom for a while so really appreciate this review….i still am unsure but i now have a much better idea of it. Thankyou
Since I already have a floor loom does it make sense to buy this loom? I want it because it's cute, but I need a better reason to have one.
Table looms are great for sampling or smaller items when you don’t want to take the time to warp up a floor loom :) I think they are faster to set up and lovely to use then my floor loom for those small items. Or I should say I’m much more likely to do those smaller projects on my table looms. Where I tend to delay for ages on my big loom. I also have rigid heddle for quick plein weave and inkle looms for bands sooooooooo I may be biased lol. But if you need an excuse there ya go :)
@@lindseyB_33 You are my person. I have a floor loom, rigid heedle loom and a inkle loom as well. I was thinking of getting this table loom to warp up projects when my floor has a project on it. Also just to have one 🤭!!!
@ I totally understand!!!! If I had the room I’d have one of everything. I love them all!! Now if I could just add more hours to the day so I could weave more in-between life that would be amazing!
@ @ i totally understand!!!! If I had the room I’d have one of everything. I love them all!! Now if I could just add more hours to the day so I could weave more in-between life that would be amazing! (Sorry if this got put on here a couple times. My app was messing up! )
@@kreativekymona: How big is the rigid heddle loom? And do you have the extra bits and pieces that allow you to do some of the fancier weaves Felicity was talking about? If the rigid heddle is also 16" then could you sell it and get the Ashford Brooklyn 4 shaft with a lot less guilt? Or you could think very hard about the beater and dressing issue and try to make that the deal breaker that means you don't really want it.
16 shaft Ashford Table Looms now also come in 32". I bought mine in 2022.
Oh wow! That's wider than my floor loom! How do you like it? I
@@SweetGeorgiaWeaving: I LOVE it. It's a bit awkward to lift up onto its stand because the width and depth are wider than my armspan!. As for intricate double-wide patterning it enables 8shaft patterns to be woven at 64".
As soon as I saw this new channel I subscribed within seconds.
❤❤
Thanks for the video! I have a similar loom from Finland and use it more often than my Glimåkra loom which is 1,30 m wide. It is practical to be able to move a loom.
I'm so excited for your new channel!
Thank you so much for your support!! I'm excited to do more weaving here too!
🐑🐑🐑oh, I found the new channel!! thanks for all you do. I also love all the crafts so I will follow you anywhere. one thing I am desperately looking for is tips on how to warp my loom. I have health issues that cause me a lot of pain. I haven't woven anything in a year because of the pain in my back neck and shoulders. any tips?
It would depend on what type of loom you are using. I always found it more comfortable if the loom was higher so I didn't have to bend. And I had to, at times, just go slow. If it takes 3 hours or 3 days to warp, makes no difference when the weaving begins. Also, making your warps longer so you can do more than one project at a time equals less warping and more weaving. But of course, again it depends on they type of loom you are using.
Absolutely, what kind of loom do you use?
@@SweetGeorgiaWeaving I have a jane table loom and a schacht mighty wolf. I'm willing to get what I need to do sectional warp
@@SweetGeorgiaWeaving I do think this is an ergonomics thing though. threading the heddles I am all hunched over
Yoooo, so excited about the new channel! Weaver here. Especially excited for videos discussing how to weave with knitting yarn - we all know how much easier it is to find knitting yarn than cones for weaving.
Thank you!
When does the weave-along end? I would love to join, but I need to order some yarn from you.
Oh yes! The weave-along goes into December and I'm hoping to do a wrap up on Dec 23 :)
@ Awesome! I ordered some yarn!!
How big is this loom? The more I see it, the more I want one.
Love the new channel! Love the old one too!
Yay! Thank you!
I wish you would put up your video about the Brooklyn loom as I keep being tempted by it. Thanks for all the information on this channel.
Thank you!! I have a full video about the Brooklyn loom coming out in a few days :)
I'm just getting interested in weaving, and considering buying a loom. Just letting you know you have at least one very, very beginner here. :)
Oh thank you! Glad you are here!!
I like many fiber crafts, and hope the dedicated channel brings more people to the weaving content. Log Cabin is one of my favorite patterns /structures. I may "need" to dig out some yarn and warp my Cricket.
❤ Felicia .I have the most basic loom but still love to see this weaving educational videos😊
❤ Congratulation in the new Channel !😊
Thank you so much 😀
Well done in embarking on this new channel. I recently joined the online school and although I already knit and spin I haven’t yet started weaving. This is why I have been finding the ‘Basics’ courses at the school so useful. I have been thinking about how I am a multicraftual student and how to divide my time and attention. Thank you for the valuable work that you do and good luck with the new channel!
Felicia is responsible for me taking up weaving and now there is a floor loom in my bedroom, lol ❤
haha yesss!!!
Thank you so much for being a part of our School! and happy to help when you find your way to weaving too :)
Good to see a new weaving channel. Here's hoping for your great success here. We NEED more weavers and more inspiration...It does seem a little lonely being a weaver sometimes. Looking forward to seeing more of your projects! Happy weaving!
Yes, I totally hear you on being a lonely weaver. Glad to meet more weavers here. Thanks for sharing!
So glad to see the Weaving channel! Not being a knitter or crocheter, I can focus in on the craft I work with. Thanks so much for this!😊
Thank you so much! I’m excited to get this started!!
