I hated the game, I want to play as Zelda, not as some princess. All jokes aside, I would like to see a ranking of the dungeons!!!

honestly until the past year I didn't know people hated skyward sword, I just thought of it as one of the great games I played as a kid. great video, watching this makes me really wanna get the switch version to replay the game lol

Agreed, this is a step in the right direction, and I really enjoyed the game! If there's one criticism I have is that it would be nice to make aspects of Zelda games going forward a bit more meaningful. Example: - You get a horse, but there's no reason to use it - You get over a hundred echoes, but you only need about thirty - You have a variety of smoothies with environmental effects, but you don't interact with the elements enough for it to matter - Beds can kinda nullify the need to interact with smoothie healing at all No matter what my nitpicks are, I'm happy with this game.

Imagine if we collectively agree to use water to clean instead of toilet paper (like a pot of water that some countries like the Philipenes use). First of all that would probably clean better. Secondly, after a few years so many trees could be saved from cutting because less tp would need to be made. Thirdly you probably would not need to worry about rashes from constant wiping. IMO, skyward sword is LEAPS AND BOUNDS above tears of the kingdom, gameplay and story wise totk is a snooze fest story wise and the gameplay barely innovates shit. the whole physics and making contraptions what shit you could do on GMod in 2004, lol.

My hatred lays solely on the motion controls. This is a problem born of the wii console, not the game itself. Although they could've made an effort to make it playable via a gamecube controller like some other wii games that is a feature that I would consider extra as motion controls were the entire point of the wii. So if I found that I enjoyed watching a lets play of a game, but hated playing it myself, I would conclude its not the game's fault, its the console's. Therefore, I do not hate Skyward Sword. But I do DESPISE the wii console.

You're right about all of this Skyward Sword was never a terrible game. The soundtrack was amazing and so was the story

Enjoyed the video! And I'm subscribing. Anyway, I want to mention something from the Lanayru Mining Facility. I love how it's not really the destination. Rather, it's an underground passage that connects the desert with the Temple of Time. Anyway, yeah ... when I'm playing in the Lanayru Mining Facility and hit that timeshift stone for the first time, the way the entire dungeon (and even the music!) comes to life makes my jaw drop.

Every LoZ has stuff about it I don't like, but none of them are hatable. Every LoZ I played was an enjoyable experience. I have played : the original, Zelda 2, Link to the Past, Awakening, Oracle of Ages, Seasons, Ocarina of TIme, Majoras Mask, Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom, and Echoes of Wisdom. So, while I can point at any one of these and say there is something I don't like about it, all that mater is game is fun and had a memorable experience.

It's not my favorite Zelda game but its not my most hated either that dubious honor goes to Spirit Tracks which felt broken at times. Skyward Sword had a great story but at the same time for me it felt like a slog to get through at times especially when it came to forging the Master Sword and you had to go back and forth constantly plus revisiting old dungeons was annoying too

This is my favorite Zelda game. I played it completely blind with no knowledge over the game. It was.... so great. See I think most people know the story of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, BoTW, and ToTK just from osmosis of trailers and talking to the fandom. While when I played Skyward Sword I didn't know what twists were coming next. The first time we get the hint of Ghirahim i initially thought we were gonna get more Trili people and I was stoked (due to his particle effects). BUT I was not disappointed to learn the truth. It was really cool and fun. Every area having a new twist and turn. Every story beat was really neat and the twists weren't very obvious. Which was great.

Loves SS Didn't understood that people were struggling with the wii motes this much. Just make sure you're not too far away from the TV and if it goes off centre just recentre with the button. No issues. people are just lazy and don't wanna swing around. :P Hope there will be a version for VR in the future.

It’s really telling how the people who complain about the controls are often the same people who don’t pay attention to their Wii setup. They stand too close to the sensor bar, their movements are janky, don’t put fresh batteries into their remote, etc. But nooooo, it’s all the game’s fault (even though the Wii gives clear instructions on how to set it up…) ALSO, the Imprisoned is a cakewalk if you work smarter, not harder. Use the wind gusts to go a few levels above him, jump on his head, and pound his seal down. It actually adds its own form of strategy since it makes you think about the best way to get vertical distance without letting the beast move too far. AND, as someone who likes encyclopedic knowledge abd often forgets what they’re supposed to be doing, Fi is a godsend. My only wish was that her design evolved along with the sword she represented.

Everything about this game is amazing except for gameplay and even the gameplay I personally still think is good. I can't remember any other Zelda game ever making me cry.

The Wii version was not even in my top 10 due to Wii controls and Fi interpreting the gameplay every 10 seconds. When it bacame an HD port on switch, it jumped all the way up to my top 5.

So right it didn't. Still has my favourite incarnation of Princess Zelda herself to this day, and I also adore the impressionism art-style :-)

Back at it's release when it was getting absolutely hammered for it's linearity and overuse of Fi (among other issues) I told people to give it a few new Zeldas to come out and people will say they loved it, Because there will be a more even tempered, pragmatic approach to examining the game. Now we have to be careful and not go too far to the other end and say it was the bestest evar.

It happens with every zelda game. Playing through totk i swear I loved every minute but all you see online now is hate. Give it 10 years and these same videos will be saying that game was also an "under rated masterpiece".

I still think some of the story is weak, and the linearity of the suface is frustrating, but it was fun as hell, and i haven't seen link this expressive since toon link. The console was the biggest issue for me. That effing wii stick....when i had to make the sword skyward. Also i hated Fi, sorry but dowgrade from Midna. The music was great. Designs, great. Charcters, fantastic. I never understood why it was so disliked at the time.

I feel like a lot of the "hate" is extremely misguided, as a lot of it focuses on motion controls and linearity as if they're inherently bad things (they aren't as seen by Wii Sports Resort and Final Fantasy 10 at least). That said, I do think HOW the game handles those things deserves a lot of criticism. I'm not a fan of how the Sky has the open roaming space but is devoid of content, nor do I like how the Surface is cramped yet winding and easily gets you lost in a bad way. And the motion controls are choppy at best, especially in comparison to Wii Sports Resort's silky smooth motion.
