VAC 2024-25: SMU vs Stanford Match
At VAC, we like to spend time outside of our regular soccer practices and matches to bond in a different manner. Here, we went to nationally ranked SMU home match. Our players really enjoyed it and learned a thing or two ⚽️⚽️

I was reading Theo this book that I found at his grandmas house. Halfway though the book, I noticed his smiles and laughs and joys were not so much a coincidence and so I began recording.

There are times when I have had structured discipline/command training sessions. And other periods in life, like I am in now, that I seize the opportunity to do a training sesh sporadically since it can be challenging to add into the daily life schedule. Having 3 dogs, it helps to stimulate their mind. And of course, physical exercise. Spud, Blue, and Freckles.

We have these kinds of events simply to create a memory for our player. Other things that come with it are the bonding and socialization aspect. It’s seeing the coaches and players in another light.

At VAC, we fine tune the fundamentals. With consistency, our players will become sharper, more precise…ultimately more skillful, which always leads to confidence. Here, they did drills with 1. Agility circles, 2. Agility sticks, 3. Hurdles.

VAC 2017/18- Power and Placement after 2 Obstacles

The idea is for them to say “power” or “placement” before choosing two of the obstacles. At the end of the drill, we added Pablito as a defender.
VAC 2017/18- Knock Out Game

This game will help players focus on protecting and holding the ball while actively trying kick the other players’ balls. This drill also promotes spatial awareness. Last one standing wins.
VAC 2012-2016: Power & Placement

Our developmental team is practicing shooting. They must say power or placement, go through three agility sticks, and shoot it before the white cones or yellow cones depending on what you said you’d do. So this makes it a bit more intentional.

So sometimes, the students will be spinning or sitting off their spots or turned around talking and this is a way for them to straighten out rather than us continuing to use our voices and say things like, “turn around, pay attention, stay still, stop talking.”
