I have replaced whole headlamp today. And also plugged 720-000 ballast unit, which is china made. AFL works fine, but I'm getting error message on my dash Check Right Low Beam Lamp. Now looking for original ballast replacement but it's almost impossible to find one on the internet. I guess it's on a very high demand :)

Hello I have an Astra from 2011 and It happens the same. I had the left light not working and AFL message popped Up. I took It to repair, changed ballar and now I have low beam, but after a minute the AFL message pops Up again. The funny thing is that It takes like a minute to show Up, so if I put the high beams before the message shows Up, It doesn't show Up at all, but then if I change from high beam to low beam, It shows AFL immediately. Can It be because the ballar is a second-hand one? Or It might be another thing? Thank you.

A question regarding the two modules on the bottom of the headlight assembly - my left side light went out, as in sometimes it doesn't turn on at all and other times it turns on and off intermittently. Which of these modules would be faulty in this situation? I'm assuming the ballast, the first module you showed, since that is the one controlling the shining/brightness of the bulb if I understand correctly. The range control unit shouldn't have anything to do with my issue I assume. Also, I already confirmed the bulbs and the igniters were OK by putting the parts from the right headlight to the left one and vice versa, and the problem still remains on the left side headlight, so it has to be one of these two modules on the bottom.

Hi, great video with useful details. I have a problem with the plastic housing - one of the mounting brackets broke and the headlight is not securely mounted now. Do you think it’s realistic to source a new housing and rebuild the unit with my original components, or because it’s sealed and fairly complicated I should get ready to fork ~£500 for a new unit?

Hello, thank you for your videos, I was wondering if you could please make a video explaining how to repair the Audi b7 a4 ballast to fix the dipped headlight/ low beam failure. It’s impossible for me to drive at night, both of my headlights keep shutting off every 30 seconds, I’m constantly turning my light switch off and on to see for those 30 seconds and it’s really frustrating, I’ve swapped ballast and bulbs and nothing seems to change with there performance

How do you remove the range control motor?

It's very rare for the problem to be internal, it's usually water ingress that goes to the bottom and flows through the connection into the ballast!

Is it possible to fit afs headlight on a non afs car, thinking of using non afs control unit on the afs headlight?

I have dissassembled these B6 bixenon headlights many times, including changing the projector itself from the front of the housing by replacing the lense also. I would say im experienced with this peticular headlight.. Even still im facing an interesting issue right now... My car, 2007 passat highline with the bixenon is blowing the headlight adjustment fuse (10A) resaulting in AFS fault. The issue is fixed by unplugging the headlight temporarily and replacing fuse, until I drive the car on slippery roads and the traction control activates. I can drive long periods without AFS fault and the adjusting and other functions work 100%, also VCDS gives no errors and output test resaults in 100% function. Its only when the traction control activates when the car enters a sideways slip, the fuse blows, and if i replace the fuse without unplugging the headlight it blows again. I have dissassembled the ballast, control module and inspected fittings and wiring on the headlight and no issues visible. I am completely baffeled and I find this fault interesting and even funny. I will switch the control modules from R to L and vice versa to see if the suspected faulty control module blows the fuse on the "wrong" side. I have tested modules on the "wrong sides" no faults, only actuation is reversed, light turns L when commanded to turn R etc. If this doesnt confirm the module issue, I will use a jumper to get power to the headlight pin in question ( I figured the the fuse to supply the pin on the connector, but cant remember the number) and see if the issue is in the wiring loom. next I will change the actuator servos from R to L and vice versa to see if the other side fuse blows after that. Im interested to hear If you have any ideas why the traction control would cause the headlight to burn a fuse :D And to be clear, I can accelerate with the traction light flashing, its only when the TC applies brake to a corner in a slide when the fuse goes. I dont want to order a module before these diagnostic steps as the module is over 200 euros where I live.

My friend please help me out ! My 2010 passat has a "activation for right headlamb beam adjustment motor - open circuit/short circuit to B+" error. My cornering lights when i move to the right or the left, are working. The only thing that is not working is when i start the headlamps, they do not adjust verticaly. The left headlamp isz the right one doesn't. What should i need to check to fix this issue please ?

Great job 👏🏻 I have one question I have Passat 2020 and after an accident my left headlight gets wet and the power module damaged and when I replace it the new one it doesn’t work all of the modules have the same part number. Maybe it’s need some configuration with the car computer?
