Enchanted Autumn Portraits – BTS of Jess' Album Cover 🎶📸 Leica Q3 & Canon R6 + 85mm 1.2
This was such a cool day! I had the chance to capture autumn-inspired portraits for my friend’s new album cover. Using the Canon R6 with the dreamy 85mm 1.2 and the Leica Q3, we created something truly pretty. Behind the scenes, I also filmed with my Insta360 to share the vibe of the day with you all.
The soft bokeh, the winter light, and the emotions in these photos made this shoot unforgettable. I hope you enjoy watching the process as much as we enjoyed creating it. Let me know what you think in the comments - your feedback is well appreciated!

have you tried using indoor events?
Jep, works just fine. I wouldn’t rely on face detection when there is more than one person in the frame, but with the autofocus field set to center or a larger field, it works great :)
Complimenti per le splendide foto .Grandi ritagli d immagine👏🏻
It is not how usb c works. Device communiates with charger and optimal current and amperage is estabilished. That’s why it takes a moment before usb c device starts to charge
That‘s correct :) thank you for addressing it. I just noticed that some of my devices don‘t charge when I use the high power charger. Of course it‘s not going full 100w. I‘m just happy that it works 😁
Truly beautiful. I have an M11 and I'm not even sure how i stumbled upon your video but i love it and how you stated how you really loved learning all the aspects of the camera. Any camera can take similar or even better photos than my M11, but my M11 is the camera that I genuinely love having on me at all times. It's a different experience. It's a different feeling using Leica. It makes me WANT to make photos.
Exaaaactly!! It makes you want to take photos. The Leica is a bigger difference for the Photographer than for the audience/client. But it makes you get different results because of the unique approach to use the camera. 📷 And it‘s just really fun! Therefore we use the camera more, get even more experience and hone the craft we love so much :)) Congrats on your M11! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻✨
amazing shots! you should try listing affiliate links in your description
Hey Sophie! Thank you for the note! Good thinking. I‘ll update that :))
hey man, thanks for sharing your story. i am glad you managed to make it through the darkness and onto a path that brings you joy and fulfillment.
Really well made video. Good job!
Ja Bruder, klingt interessant.
I find that the Q3-43 and a SL3 with an APO-Summicron 90mm is a very good combination. And hand out a D-Lux8 to a Photo affine Guest to make more pictures from their perspective...
Giving the D-Lux to a guest is a great move! I imagine that really unique photos come from that. :) And the Q3 42 and APO 90mm sound really fun! Two APO Lenses...crazy quality!! Love it
2:01 what a shot man, thanks for sharing
Thank you! :) That happend while I was just walking and I liked the top down angle :)
Great video! Also love peak design products. Quick question: does the new replacement also have lifetime warranty?
I'm super happy with the products too! I have a few other bags as well. Funny, I just received a mail to register the new bag. I have an account on the PD Website and the replacement showed up as an usual order. So I assume that it comes with the warranty as well. But I believe that I'll never need to use it. The 3L and 6L Bag didn't show any wear after quite some time. :)
The quality is amazing dude! Do you know about how long the battery lasts for video? Thanks!
I like it as well! Looks super good. I recently had a bigger production and I set up the Q3 for one angle. It held up quite well. After 35-40min recording, it used around 30-40% Battery as far as I remember. What I then did is to attach a powerbank to the tripod and start charging the camera. That way I didn't come close to an empty battery.
That's so ridiculous, it blows my mind.
I'm curious, what exactly is ridiculous to you?
@@dasignarts Blows my mind because it rose so many questions. I'll tell you about the mind abysses your video sent me to. What's the point of flipping an expensive camera with an expensive lens and then feel the need to display it on TH-cam? Is it supposed to look cool, because that's what photographers do (no, they don't)? Imply that you are a good photographer because you flip that camera with ease? That you are rich, so you can afford to break it? How is it relevant on photography channel supposed to, I guess, promote yourself as a photographer, not a camera flipping artist? I am curious too...
Hey Jonas, these are some really good questions you raise here. I got curious myself to think about my motive here. I guess the first thing is, that I flip all kinds of things. It comes from my skateboarding era (that I loved so much) where I translated doing a Kickflip onto other everyday products like and old Nokia 3410, since it couldn't really break. And that habit continued and I used more challenging things like knifes, plates and...my Cameras. And surely there is some part in here that I do it because it's rare to see something like this, since it is risky and I kinda want so show off xD Gotta admit that :D Even though it's not serving the photography side. But it's fun nevertheless. And that's the main thing. It's fun to me. So it will probably happen again^^ That's my answer for now. Thank you for taking the time to speak your mind! :)
You also cannot pull out the Q3 from a pocket and use one hand to shoot.
Actually I can. :) I use the Peak Design 3L Sling Bag and the zipper is so smooth that it really nicely opens fully with the right hand and then I can gram the camera, turn it on and start snapping. All with my right hand. It's probably harder with other bags. Have a good one! :)
@ OK, I thought you said from a pocket not bag. That got me confused. Q is not pocketable unless you have enormous pockets. Also you need to leave the lens cap off otherwise it’s not a single hand operation. Have a good one too!
@@xyphoto oh true, I said pocket. Got my wording wrong here. But I ment my 3L Sling. And I never have a Lens Cap on it. Otherwise, you're right. :)
Great video and beautiful work! Helpful to me because I am interested in how the Q3 performs in these settings. I’m saving up for one at the moment. Are you tempted by the Q3 43?
Thank you! :)) I think the Q3 performes quite niceley here. I wouldn't rely on the eye-autofocus when there are many people in the frame. The focus behaves quite random and not reliable there. When there is only 1-2 People the Eye Autofocus is great! For the other occasions I suggest using another focus type like center or area. Or just focus manually. I learned that with my M10. You really get the hang of it and then you're actually really fast with focusing. Or even using the rangefinder works great. If I'd decide to use my Q3 as a main camera I'd feel safe doing so. I just don't have another battery or SD-Card to cover a full day. That's why I use it occasionally in between. The 128gb V90 card was like 200€ xD And the 128gb SD Card for my Canon costs 25€ :D The Q3 43 is really lovely! Looks like a super fun lens and it complements the Q3 28 niceley. But I'm so content with my camera that I don't need the 43. I initially bought the Q3 as an everyday companion. And the 28mm is better for that. When taking a photo of stuff I have right in front of me, the 28mm and the nice close focus distance are a perfect fit imo. :)
Spoiler: NO. Using whatever camera while you are getting rest from main photo shoot doesn't mean this camera for weddings, so either title or conclusion is misleading, or both. "iPhone for Weddings" would be even better as you can omit photos transfer. :) How do you match colors from such a different systems on single photo shoot? Or you don't bother?
You're right, that might be misleading a little. I guess saying that "the Q3 complements your main setup really well" makes a good point here. And that's what I experience from using it on Weddings this year. It doesn't fully keep up with my R6 but still is really capable. And I'd say even using it as a main Camera will also work. Many use a manual Leica that is even slower in all regards for a full wedding and it works perfectly. But you're right, I didn't clarify that in a final conclusion. :) I'll keep that in mind for future Videos. The Colormatching comes mostly from my Preset. It works in a way that any RAW file will give you pretty much the same outcome. That's how I can easily use any type of RAW file and have a harmonic result. :)
Great video🔥
Danke man :))
Cool song
Thanks :))
I wonder which makes faces look closer to reality... I've seen professional portraits of people I know and sometimes the head looks wider than in reality, but maybe the lens was more than 85mm...
I think the difference is really small. If you have the 2 photos with each lens side by side, you will see the difference. But it's fairly small I believe. So going either way will give you nice results. :)
I just got an M10 and I’m so excited to use it! Btw the colors on your photos are amazing!!
Congrats on your M10!! Really lovely Camera! And thank you for the kind words. :)
Heyy where can i buy your video lut? it looks greatt!!
Hey :) I don't really have a Lut. I use different kinds of Luts and manual grading myself here. :)
hey your video quality is great, try taking more B- roll shots and try to be more energetic when talking!
Thank you for the feedback! It's well appreciated. You're right, I could've doch much more here. But I just wanted to unpack my three Items and thought I'd though in a quick recording. :)
You have beautiful monsteras!
great video !
Thank you :)
I have been very vocal about not ‘upgrading’ from the iPhone 15 Pro max, to the 16 Pro and had many reasons for not doing so but… I was so disappointed with the 15 Pro max as I had many issues with it (if had been able too, I’d have gone back to the 13 Pro I used to have) with dreadful call reception, or the lack off more correctly, and the quality of images from the cameras I decided I would not upgrade. But, yesterday, I went into the Apple Store in Glasgow and traded in the 15 Pro max as the trade-in was too good to ignore… and bought the 16 Pro: and not the max. Why the 16 Pro? Well, now that it has the 120mm equivalent lens, the reason I bought the 15 Pro max, was now available on the smaller Pro phone. I also hope the known issues with the 15 Pro models have been dealt with too… I definitely had a ‘Friday model’ with my one (one sided calls, poor reception, etc) so time will tell on that. 🏴
Sounds like a reasonable choice to me. :) I was surprised as well when they offered me a surprising amount for my old 12 Pro! The 6"3 16 Pro is so much better for everyday life :D The Max models are just sooo big xD So congrats to your new Phone :) Have a good one!
Warum sehe ich das jetzt erst 😂❤
🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Good info, would love to see how it deals in low light, like indoor parties etc
Thank you :) I a quite a few photos in low light situations. I'll make a Video on that soon then. :)
Were you in manual focus or auto? I cant find a way to film in auto without focus pumping and ruining shots. Lovely examples on here. Nicely shot
Thank you! :)) I used manual focus. I had to close the aperture a lot because I didn't have an ND. The Autofocus would have been pumping a lot. The camera "sees" better with open aperture. With eye detection you can film yourself fairly well. But more complex things are a little to much to handle for the Q3 I guess. :) But It needs further testing from my side.
@@dasignarts yes. I shot a slow mo in 4k 60 in manual and it looked beautiful. All wide open. I think if you go around the limitations you can make really lovely video with this.
I have an M10 and a Q2 and love both, but I do agree that a Q is probably better for everyday use for the autofocus and video capabilities. I do love using the M10, though, and will never sell it.
Hey Jon, Yeah! The combination is really nice. :) Keep having fun! Have a great weekend!

The edit is fabulous...found this very ispiring to me...I have to choose between Zeiss 55 mm 1.8 and Samyang 50 mm 1.4 mkII..but I think you helped me make a decision...thank you so much for this wonderful review.
You're welcome! And thank you :)) I have no experience with the Samyang, but even after switching back to Canon, I sometimes miss the 55 1.8 Zeiss. Have a great week!
Thank you! I was looking for this
You're welcooome! :))
Just found your channel, awesome work: photos, viewpoints and music. Subbed. Hope to see your channel grow! P.S. picking up a Q3 today…
Thank you man! Congrats on your Q3!!! How do you like it??
@@dasignarts it’s been amazing so far! Definitely needs the thumb grip though.
@@devlincook5741 Good to hear that. :) Yep, the thumbgrip is good to have. I love having one. At first I go to third-party option, but it didn’t quite fit. Then I got the original. Works great, although overpriced for what it is.^^
@@dasignartshahaha I was the same, looked at all the 3rd party options but when I was in the Leica store getting a battery I tried the OG and it’s just so well made and light! Had to get it 😣
The Leicaman doesn’t do quick snaps
From experience, both works well :))
I'm really glad you demonstrated shooting (pew pew pew). Teasing, but I really love the re-enactments, too. You're a fun guy to watch. AND I like your perspective on things.

Thanks a lot man 🔥🔥🔥
Love the photos! 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you buddy!!! ^_^
You should try Hasselblad x2d
Yeah!! I'd looove to try that Camera!
Yup, that about covers it. I've also shot the Q and M side by side quite a bit, I concur with every single point in here. I'd also add that anyone considering this dilemma, remember his context. I ultimately went with the M for myself because I don't need some of the things he mentioned. Likewise, I do need different focal lengths. When I was after something more like what he talks about here- such as a night out with family/friends or especially vacations- the Q was what I grabbed every single time. One kinda side note... we aren't dead in the water with the M by any means. It's just that our relationship with the moment will change. With the M we need to disconnect from the moment further in order to capture it. Not all the time- I do often shoot tons of great photos by just zone focusing with my family. But certainly there are many times where we have to slow it down and concentrate to get the shot. Perfect for meditative photography, less perfect when we're with friends and family. Worth noting: bliss when the two combine and we capture the moment precisely and exactly how it felt. Less "kid running maniacally," more "kid seeing something for the very first time." Anyway. Great video! Should be really helpful for people on the fence.
Wow! What a nice summary! Thank you. I also got quite a lot really nice photos with zone focus. If you really develop the craft of manually focussing, it gets sooo fast as well. And I love how you describe the change of the moment with the M10...that it sometimes pulles us further out of the moment than the Q. Reading this sounded like a poem to me just now. :)) Have a great one buddy!
Currently struggling with choosing my next camera(s). Both of my kids just graduated from HS and are now going to college. I no longer need to be the family//team photographer for soccer, lacrosse, and all things that come along with small kids and teenagers. It is now my turn to once again 100% take photos for me, which means travel, street and protests (I love going to protests/rallys even for subjects I don’t agree with, to take pictures). My choice is either a new M11 or a used M10 and q3. Your video was very helpful. Thanks!
Try the Fuji X100 or Ricoh GR3. I have the GR3 and the 28mm focal length works well..both are hard to get.
I'm happy to hear that it's helpful! :) I'd probably go with the M10 and Q3 if I'd make that choice. The M11 is really nice. However the M10 is still really similar in it's experience. In you case I'd probably go to a Leica Store and just have the Cameras in your hands, click the buttons, take some snaps and see if the M11 is so much nicer for you that you'd skip the M10 and Q3.
@@rycm Also great options :)
@@dasignarts that’s what I am doing right now. I had the q2 a few years ago but it didn’t fit the “dad” photographer thing. I have used the m10 previously and just got an m11 rental delivered yesterday (for 4 days). The m11 is really a stunningly beautiful camera, but I am finding myself using the patch and LV about 50/50 so far. My brain needs some retraining to rely on the RF for focus. The response is much appreciated, and I think your suggestion is spot on.
@@squiddah So cool! Happy to hear that. Great choice to rent the M11. :) The retraining to learn the rangefinder is also such a cool process. I found myself nailing the focus at 1.4 without looking down to the camera. Just pulling focus blindly and it works surprisingly often! Developing the motor ability in your hands is quite satisfying. ^_^ Please let me know your conclusion when it's time.
Great video and it’s the same experience I have, just as a family father of two small kids 😊 Since mine are still small I often hold one in one arm and then the rangefinder is out. Every other system with AF works in that case better, specially if they are small and compact like the X100VI. And when I have chances to take pictures of my kids with my Leica M cameras, they often run so quickly into the minimum focus distance - therefore here also no picture 😅 Great job and keep going - Grüße aus der Nachbarschaft und dir einen schönen Tag 😊
I have also two small kids and used the Leica M10 with the 35 1.4. Of course lots of moments I will miss. But in summary at the end of the year, when i start a photo book and look at the pictures. There are so wonderful shots of quiet moments, e.g. the kids are in a day dream or playing just by itself. There are no pictures of running kids and action but more intimate moments. With a fast camera i will miss these moments I think, because with the M10 i see different. But the Q2 is still on my list 😂 Grüße vom Bodensee!
@@tombube49 yes totally agree with you! Specially these intimate moments, when I’m able to capture them with my M6 wide open are just beautiful ☺️ But since they growing up so fast and they are energetic kids, I also want to capture these kinds of energy and therefore I use the other camera systems - that’s how I justify my camera collection and my wife only shakes her head, but she appreciates the extra image quality compared to smartphones 😅😃 Grüße zurück aus der Stuttgarter Gegend ✌️
Ja moin! :)) Toootally! In that case AF is really welcomed. The X100VI is lovely for that. And I totally see the close focus issue with the M. The little ones are so quick to come close haha Grüße gehen raus!!
@@tombube49 Totally agree on seeing differently with the M10. The photos just have this little edge in composition, since you're forced to work harder for the photo. Really satisfying nailing the shot. :) Bin gespannt, wie eine Q2 für dich funktioniert. :)) Grüße aus Berlin!
The m10 with the Voigtländer has just more character and filmic renderings that’s why I’m keeping mine the combination is just special
Indeed, the Voigtländer and M10 is a nice combination. :)
The confirmation I was looking. I have both and wanted to make sure the PD plate is safe for the PGYT👌🏽
Looking at your photos makes me realise how much I suck at photography lol. Really nice pictures man!
Hey friend :) Comparison is the thief of joy. If photography is fun for you, that‘s mostly all you need. I became good because it‘s just fun for me to snap around and learn more and more about the camera and composition and such. If you keep doing it, you‘ll naturally improve :) Just keep having fun with it. Have a good one! 😁
