Home Project Junkies
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 31 ต.ค. 2019
Home Project Junkies was created as an outlet for all those projects that go unfinished. If you are like me, time is always at your back. Well the time has come to finish a heap of built up home projects that are always "almost finished". To kick off this channel, we will start with cleaning out an old barn that my dad built when I was a child. With over 20 years of build up, we should come across some pretty interesting items. Once the barn is cleaned up, I am going to turn it into a quality workshop.
King pellet stove auger broke and how i fixed it
A few years ago we bought a king pellet stove. We have had a reoccurring issue with the auger sheering off. Turns out that it is a design flaw. This is how I fixed it!

Ziptie it over the brakes under moter pull it tight its ben 4 years still holding it up
I put a zip tie around moter and bracket
Thank you, sir. My motor was laying on the floor inside the back of the stove. The slide pin had fallen out. No damage to anything. I used cable ties to lightly hold the weight of the motor in place. Doesn't seem like an area that gets hot. Seems to be working okay so far. Thanks again.
$1800 piece of junk, i cant believe no one file class action lawsuit against them
I found my motor on the bottom of the pellet stove. Seems like the coupler pin broke In half after 5 years
I have had this same pellet stove for five years, starting my sixth season with it, and I have never had this issue myself.
good info! thank you for taking the time to make this!
Stoves are like. Veheckle s. When you buy it new the. Big profits. Come from replacement parts
May be it’s desighn that way so it will wear out. And you have to buy anouther Alger motor In todays world. Manufacturers. Desighn things to be replace. What other reasion would they design it that way you no by being design engineers They would no it would go bad from all that Floping up and down and side to side I am actually thinking about. Designing. My own bearings. For both ends. Of the shaft. For. Long turn. Maintenance.
Also. By Puting.
I put a bracket. From the bottom to the. Of stove to the bottom of motor to hold it level and straight. When you here your. Stove make a loud poping sound your Alger motor. Is in a bind on the shaft.
This just happened to me. The auger shaft snapped.
I have same stove had for 2 yrs and it's not releasing pellots
How did you get it out
Anyone know part number or size of the 4 height adjustment screws under the insert? I have this model, have ordered 2 leecraft zero clearance inserts but need the height adjustment screws for an even top
I'm speechless. What a crappy chincy-ass design.
I know what you are saying we have had the stove less then 3 months and we have had issue with auger and pin breaking from weight of motor
It's a horrible design. I drilled and taped the end of my auger, sunk a 3/8 bolt in it and cut the head, then used a shaft coupler to the motor. I just let it hang free in the stove now so I can get it unjammed without emptying the hopper. The only way to prevent these poorly designed stoves from jamming is to keep the fines or sawdust in the hopper to a minimum. I have had to screen many bags of pellets. Mine is the Vogelzang 5790 I believe, but still the same pos.
It’s nice they replaced the parts but all at the same time it doesn’t speak. Volume of quality of the product Thea’s stoves are not cheap to purchase. Sounds like they don’t want quality to push more stoves Just like everything eles it’s cheaper to buy a new stove than all third parts. Every winter time. It adds up over a 2 year period You can replace it other thann throw. Money at it. But in the other hand if they don’t change their attitude. To customers service people will not invest you get by with for a while. But it catches up the the manufactur. Of the product. Lot of companies over the years went belly up over Poor product
what is the leecraft part number for the Hitachi C10FL ??
This is not a design flaw, it's a manufacturing flaw. They sent me new parts that meet standards and never had a problem since. They used the wrong stuff to assemble the stove.
Hi I too just purchased a king pellet stove . I'm get ready to put the hole through the concrete block wall. I was curious I also have a wood stove in the same room. How far away from your wood stove is your pellet stove. I was just curious because I'm putting mine like 4 1/2 feet away I'm just hoping if I need to fire up my wood stove again it won't hurt the pellet stove
Our pellet stove is about 5 feet from the wood stove.
Ok Thanks thats about were mine is also
Hi I was just wondering if this bracket you made fixed the problem. I just bought the same stove and was gonna do the same thing . But I wanted to see if it work out well for ya in the long haul. Please get back to me just bought some strapping today lol
Todd, yes this bracket has made all of the difference. We have had no issues with our pellet stove since. This took all of the weight off of the auger shaft.
Ok thanks for getting back to me . I greatly appreciate it. And thanks again for the great video
Need to do another video to n let us know if it works out
Are you going to make another video after you fixed it to let us know if it's fixed the problem thanks
David, I can make another short video after the winter season. I am currently working on some other content. However, I can let you know that this fix has made a world of difference. We have not had any issues with our stove since.
Thanks cause I bought the same stove have not fired it up yet but I did the same to my auger
I am happy that I could help save all the trouble we have been thru.
I have the same saw. What is the 0 clearance model number
I believe this is the Leecraft HT1
I like your informal approach to the design and build - great!
Thank you Ken!
So should I buy a new auger or can I use the broken one with a homemade bracket?
did your auger sheer off? it would depend on how much on your auger shaft is left. you may have to purchase a new auger. either way, I 100% recommend using a bracket to hold the motor up so that it will not sheer off a new one.
@@homeprojectjunkies8763I ordered a new one off Amazon, it came quickly and works great.
can you get your fence lined up with the miter slot
Yes my fence is lined up with my miter slot. you may need to check to see if your cast iron top is out of alignment of if your fence rails are out of alignment.
I am having the same problem with my stove. Thank you so much for all your info!
Glad I can help.
Hi I just purchased this stove I'm in the process of hooking it up. But I wanted to put that motor strap you showed us how to do. I was just curious if your strap solved the auger issue. Please let me know thanks
I just picked up this saw from craiglist last week and it didnt have the factory riving knife. Since that part doesnt seem to be available Ill be doing the same zero clearance/ MJ splitter install like you. Thank you for the video
Krystle, I am very happy to be able to help. Hope you find all the information you need from this video.
id imagine a random orbit sander and wd40 would make quicker work of that.
Best MJ Splitter installation on TH-cam. Thank you for saving me a lot of time.
With pleasure Randal! I will say that since I installed mine it has been a while new world! :)
Nice job, man! Could you tell me the width of the fence ?
Thank you very much William, the width of my fence is 2 1/8 inches.
