The magnification depends on the focal point where the object being viewed gets out of focus.. with your eye on one side of the glass look at a single bb. Next to it have 30 bb’s in a bowl. If you can pull away from the single bb and still be in focus far enough for it to be the same size as the 30 through the other eye not looking through the glass then its 30x..

Honestly, it's the luck of the draw with these bulbs. I have several of these flashlights, and I just picked up a couple more today off a Craigslist purchase of some additional Ryobi tools (I needed one thing and ended up with 10 tools for $50, so I couldn't pass it up). Over the years I've replaced the original bulbs with LEDs, and the quality varied regardless of the stated specs. I actually marked my flashlights as #1, #2, and #3 to indicate brightest to dimmest, so I'd know which to grab without having to turn it on. The good news is that I think all of the LED bulbs have been brighter than the incandescent, and they have all lasted longer and were less vulnerable to a fall by a factor of 10x over. (I know bc I went through many, including a 10-pack of incandescents before I bought my first LED. Only had 1 LED burn out so far.)
