Hello. Here in Argentina I was a cinematographic operator for more than 25 years, I worked with 35 and 70mm. The last year I worked was in 2015, and in the cinema where I was we had 2 Victoria 5 projectors, in one room with a dish and in another with a tower. Then digitalization arrived and the cinema had to close. I had great memories left.
I totally understand you, in my last cinema where I worked, the largest cinema had two Philips DP70 projectors with non-rewind for 35-70mm, where I showed a lot of 70mm feature films. The happy memories remain, glad we experienced this.
R.I.P. Arclight Hollywood and the Cinerama Dome.
Interesting video, Its a mad mad world was the first film I saw in the cinema, in this case on 70mm.
@@fp20wesmovie87 I wasn't actually trying to promote muh stuff, was just really sad about how things are and forgot a made a video called that.
I want to print logo and images on 35mm film To prepare slides in projector for logo projection Can you suggest me what are the printer and films required for this?
Unfortunately, slides is something that belongs to analog photography. I think you can still buy a 35mm photo roll somewhere for an analog photo camera, and there will still be an address somewhere that can develop that photo roll. I just don't know where.
I want to print logo and images on 35mm film To prepare slides in projector for logo projection Can you suggest me what are the printer and films required for this?
0:41 CORRECTION: the first CinemaScope movies up to about 1956 had a ratio of 2.55:1. This was often coupled with stereo surround sound and at least 3 separate (left, centre, right) dialogue channels. The separate sound channels can still be heard today on some movies on TH-cam.
Thanks for your correction, indeed the first years the format was 2.55:1. Only on magnet 35mm there has never been stereo surround. There were 4 magnetic tracks, left - center - right and a mono effect channel, which we now call the surround channel. That mono efect channel was also narrower than the other channels, and was only audible with a 12 Khz pilot tone. Later, they switched to the combi copies, optical and magnetic with the aspect ratio of 2.35:1

Making slides falls under photography, you can still do this with an analog photo camera. And then have them developed as slides. Where and who, I wouldn't know.
Thank for your valuable information
Bhai 1 film roll mujhe bhi chahiye kitne ka milega
How long did the mag heads last before the HF started to fail?
That depended on the number of film screenings per day. The treble was reduced when the individual magnet heads were worn away to such an extent that they no longer protruded above the plastic of the magnetic head. Some clever operators filed away the plastic around the heads, so that the life of the head was extended. With intensive use, the magnetic head could last a month. Nowadays I don't run with the prescribed pressure, but a little less. As a result, I use the magnetic head longer, and I am more careful with the old film copy. It is acetate material, which also becomes less strong, with a risk of tears in the perforation. Despite this, sound quality is still good!
Thanks the information

finding test loops is almost impossible these days. They sometimes come up on ebay and are always very expensive. I was fortunate to know someone who had a few and was able to get them. I have enough now to do my calibrating. I run a CP500
Luckily, you were able to find it this way.

Hello from France! I’m just starting to seriously collect 35mm prints and I recently got an FP20 in poor condition that needs restoration. I was wondering if you might have a wiring schematic to help me convert it to work on 220V mono power or some tips on how you dit it? Thanks a lot! ;) Best, Alexis
What type of FP 20 do you have? The old (1st series) where nothing was built into the back door. Or the later versions where relays and capacitors/connection strips were placed in the back door. Best Regard Wesmovie
@@fp20wesmovie87 a later version I think as I have a whole plate with electronics (capacitors, relays ect ) in the back door. Just removed the whole plate to clean the projector Thanks!

what the chance the connect parts wrong?😊
When you look at the head and foot leader by reel number, the chances are very small.
It's a wonderfull clip. Thanks 😃👍
RIP Arclight Cinemas.
Very brave to use so much film on a reel so small!
Почему фильм покрыт бумагой , а не в полиэтиленовых пакетах? Как должно быль по правилам?
Честно говоря, не знаю, раньше это делалось регулярно.
Nada se compara ao verdadeiro cinema. Imagem fotográfica projetada . Vídeo não é cinema.
Инженерное решение в старых моделях кинопроекторах вызывает изумление. Всё изготовлено с точностью до микрона, поэтому старые проектора дожили до наших дней и работают ни хуже современных. У меня проктор 1973 года, он как новый.
Hey could you cover setting the feed and takeup tensions?
Interesting question, yes I can. It will be ready in a while, and it will be on-line.
@@fp20wesmovie87 thanks! Just found your channel and throughly enjoy it!
La cruz fe malta o rueda de ginebra.... Que invento. El cine es posible gracias a ese mecanismo genial
Where can we obtain 35 mm films, dont expect them for free, just having trouble finding any.
It's getting harder and harder, maybe through the internet, forums or collectors who quit.
This was my job for more then 35 years working as a film projectionist
Do you know what size belt to replace on these? I've been told a 6mm thick silicon o ring is a better option and greatly reduces running noise but I'm unsure what size to go for
Yes, for example from the brand: Strongbelt. 8x560 J4. This is the belt that was supplied for Kinoton/Philips!
I'm so lucky your channel exists as a new FP20 owner, thank you for these videos! I'm working out at the moment how to convert the mono PE cell to stereo
Do you know where to get replacement belts? Mine is I believe the original, almost 60 years old and showing it's age
Perhaps there is something on offer on E-bay? Or search for v-belts on the internet at companies in the area.
16 mm splicer give me one number
In south india dolby was not famous at 90s time mainly theatres on mono sound and stereo sound playback for songs and fight scenes some big theatre have 4 track stereo scope sound after that they directly change to dts and processor is usl inc stereo and ultra jsd 80 &100
Very interresting. Thank you fot the info.
Super
The music started to make me think of Tron. And then i saw it was Wendy Carlos that composed it, and it all made sense :) all in all nice video showing the different tests loops.
"Do you insist on Philipps? Or do you you want quality rightaway?" Popular saying in the 1950s/ 1960s. I learnt from Philipps employees. WEll, at least these projectors became really good before they were discontinued by Kinotone. Our image in the theatre is among the best I know of. Stability, evenness of light, silent running, sound pickup. Can't be any better on a well serviced Kinotone FP 30 D from the 2000s/ 2010th years.
According to the manual “CinemaScope” by 20Th Century Fox, the original width to height ratio was 2.55:1. It was later changed to a standard of 2.35:1 for all anamorphic or “Scope” presentations.
I only watched the whole video because of the music 😃
A butt splice (end to end) with film cement will not hold. No way. In the USA we always made a one sprocket hole overlap and scraped off the emulsion from the piece to be cemented onto with the other piece of film. Nitrocellulose film stock was replaced with acetate safety film by 1950 or before.
The intermittent movements in all projection systems eventually wear out. You had a have a spare.
I've tested those old Carl Zeiss anamorphs against modern counterparts. They can still hold their own, put side by side, against new Isco and Schneider lenses.
😍😍👍
Very interesting! I have a Philips fp3 projector 35mm, do you know how can I project a 1.85 film ? Is there any kind of mask for it? Thanks
Philips may have made 1:1.85 masks for this projector. One idea might be to reduce the opening of an existing mask to 1.85.
Excellent video, very interesting.
35 mm❤
Where do I can buy two FP20 Kinoton projectors?
Perhaps via e-bay?
Piranha was not a 3D movie in the 80s. Perhaps you're thinking of Parasite 3-D. And of course, it was Jaws 3 and Friday the 13th Part 3. Interesting to see the projection equipment in action.
Thanks for the correction. Indeed, Piranha was not 3D. Sometimes it's easy to make a mistake. I will include a correction in the video, as extra info and subtitles.
Hi! Do you have any videos that shows how to transfer/mount a 35mm film print on core onto a reel?
No, good question. I'm going to make a movie item about that for you. The film will be released on July 1, 2024
@@fp20wesmovie87 Thanks!!
Oops, a mistake. Cinerama had 6 perforations. This has been adjusted in the subtitles and with an extra info card!
