    I have come to think really similar to you man. From an acoustic standpoint, but also adding what i've learned from anatomy and vocal function and mechanisms after I had quite an injury. I lost my voice in 2018 and been trying to rehab, started learning about distortion and that actually helped my voice become tons healthier, but still never the same. 2021 i gave up and thought i'd never sing again, but just recently that I moved to another city, far away, quite small, and started teaching voice to pay bills. This gave me the motivation to keep going and studying and working, and I have finally pin pointed what was malfunctioning and which mechanism was failing. I've been recovering pretty fast this year and im happy af that i've been able to sing higher than an E4 again lol now i'm doing pretty good B4s, working on this passaggio to get to a stable C5, as my injury and imbalances make my voice shaky and involuntary distortions kick in and stuff hahah but its getting better and better by the day. and if you're wondering what happened, i vomitted... a hell lot, so my fold closure, the approximation of the folds got messed up. I had after those episodes a new bridge, with involuntary distortion at around E3 man, bad bad stuff lol And well, long story short is that kargyraa helped me get a lot better because of the cartylages aproximating and working out the adduction muscles, BUT just recently i found that the GAG coordination alone, which activates the aproximation of the folds in a different way, it's helped my folds come closer more evenly, and this is doing absolute wonders to my voice. I went from struggling to feeling stable af on a C5 in just a couple of weeks, and the annoying involuntary distortion that tries to stabilize the messed up folds coordination has decreased almost completely.

    • @Jensviktorjohansson

      Well It's in the context of classical singers. So classical tenors in "general" usually cant unlock all the mechanisms, mainly because they train in diffrent way that doesnt focus on that at all. However Ofc tenors can unlock all the mechanisms if they tran for it!

    I agree with this partially, but the CT muscle is the "correct intrinsic" muscle that, if done appropriately, will tilt the larynx to lengthen the chords. However, the Lateral Cricoarytenoid (LCA) muscles also help with this function while adducting the vocal chords at the same time. If the Thyroid Arytenoid (TA) muscle is too dominant the extrinsic muscles unfortunately usually end up doing most of the work for stretching the chords. Yes, it's likely that both muscles are always involved in phonation to some degree no matter where we sing, but the CT and TA are opposing muscle groups. That means that for most singers it is somewhat challenging for both muscles to dominantly contract simultaneously, other than being right in the middle of the 1st vocal bridge between Chest and Head Voice.

    • @MisterOpera
      @MisterOpera 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it just doesn't work like that. they aren't simple antagonists, and whatever gesture you're looking at always has a context you can usually spot by observing their head movement. The situations in which they are antagonistic is limited.

    • @maxsherritt8242
      @maxsherritt8242 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MisterOpera The only way I could see this is the Vocalis Muscle part of the TA can involve a tensing mechanism on the chords as well as relaxing the posterior part. None of these muscles work in a vacuum, so it's likely not rigidly fixated.

To be able to give it alot more time and energy. Part one will contain all my best whistletechnique and how to build your voice for these sounds. It is basicly the bulk, the gymroutine for the voice you need. Part two will be a new product probably focused more on the singing part then the voicebuilding path but that is yet to be decided. @@viktorclay6956 If low flageolet is not falsetto, and falsetto was used in operatic training in the 1800s, then why was it taught to be brought down into the lowest notes of the voice? What purpose does that serve, if it imbalances the entire range? Also, why do some people sing better after warming up with flageolet tension (and a very high larynx)?

    • @into.the.wood.chipper.
      @into.the.wood.chipper. 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Based on how you define this, I don't think that what I was doing is flageolet tension. Discovered it in full voice today, with the nasal port closed, and it's not an airy sound. What I call "flageolet" is very airy, but it's not falsetto. If you plug your ears and say "hoo'" on A4 with the larynx all the way up, it is very loud in the skull and is felt between the eyes. This sound goes lower than my falsetto does- all the way to the bottom range. So, I think it's some form of chest voice. Not flageolet tension, though. Who knows what this is, really... It's been a lifetime trying to figure it out. All that's certain is that it helps in ways falsetto never did.

    • @viktorclay6956
      @viktorclay6956 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@into.the.wood.chipper. Hey man, this is the very reason I define flageolet as a function and not a register. Falsetto can be trained all over the range and should be trained all over. That stuff you describe works, but it also depends on the singer, some singers(mostly females) on the contrary needs to learn fuller sounds to get balanced. As with flag tension, the reason it shouldnt be brough down to low is that it can create a split in the voice. Wich can be hard to get tidof. Good question btw I hope your satisfied with the answer :)

      Consider it a process where you build the tiny muscles a little each day. It doesnt take alot of work, but consistent work spreadout over time. There are alot of things you can do to make it good. Setting up the lowrange balancing the registers. Im working on a vocalprogram that describes this process. I do give lessons in this if you feel like youve been hitting a brickwall and are not improving a couple of sessions can set you on the right path. Hey I actually have flageolet and the best tip I could give you is to kinda squeak up high in your falsetto range while being relaxed and it should feel like your vocal cords are really tight together. When you feel it's getting really high in your falsetto range, don't try to push it higher and try to stay at the same volume. The contrast between flageolet and falsetto/headvoice is the same the one between chest and falsetto! It's really weird, it feels like you have a third passagio!

A lot of people talk about feeling a tuck/grip/tightness in their cords when doing flageolet. Recently I concluded that I was looking for this feeling by squeezing my throat, thinking it would slam my cords together (which didn't). I actually just started to develop my mixed voice, so I'm not sure if I should work on my mixed or flageolet first. Anyways, I won't give up!
