Hi Rich: I'd like to see more makers and artists using WordPress. Right now, most are being pulled toward to WIX or Squarespace for ease of use. It seems like the WordPress community aims more toward developers and website designers. Do you think there will ever be a more simplistic and intuitive admin experience for WordPress?
Patterns Export/Import (with Categories & Images) Hi Rich ... I can only see the option to export/import one pattern at a time via “json” file. That is it! Categories are not carried along with it. And if there is an image in the pattern, it carries the original URL. Is there a way to Export/Import ALL of my personal and customized patterns, from one website to another. And included in that Export/Import would be … ○ Categories that patterns have been assigned to. ○ Images that are used in the patterns. ○ Images put in a folder, that can be carried with exported patterns. This was all being done in some fashion with the "Pattern Manager" plugin. But per "Pattern Manager" plugin developer, "Development on Pattern Manager has stopped." What method(s) do you use or are available to do this? Thank you for your insight!
Hey Rich, I'm loving the way WordPress is moving. I'm curious what your thoughts are on implementing mobile-specific controls into the block editor. My understanding is that the idea is to move away from media queries so elements wrap naturally, but there are often times that making a specific change to some padding, font size, etc on smaller screen widths is necessary, requiring me to add a custom class with some CSS. Thanks!
🎉 thank you🎉
this is amazing, i would like to create a custon button block with a custom html construct as i am not happy with the wp-button-block as is not a fit for the design.... do you have an idea on how to promp it?
Great video Rich. I love how you use little motion and zoom aesthetics to make the video feel more captivating. My biggest challenge with building custom blocks is working with the component library. Obviously, this is where things get infinitely more complex because there is an infinite number of desired controls block devs woud like, and how they all connect to the system and feed the input changes to the attribute api is extremely variable. Is there a nice AI driven workflow you have found to help block devs save time while trying to add common block control components to their custom blocks? For example, "Copilot, create an "Add Image" section to my block in the inspector controls that manages the img src for the img in this block". I think having a more automated approach to added common components like this and others that might not be super simple, but not ultra custom and complex, would facilitate more custom block development and make it more economical to build custom standard blocks for custom content designs.
Awesome video! Very high quality video, the way you zoomed in and followed the mouse, and explain its very cool!
Very high quality video, the way you zoomed in and followed the mouse, great job keep it up please!
I dont know what happened, because I thought I left a comment. But, what is the theme you are using in the demo. I love it!
All of it is of interest to me. Thanks.
Truly good work!
That's incredible. I look forward to trying this out
I'd love a video from you helping describe how and when to use group vs column and how to leverage them together.
It’s on my idea list. I’ll see what I can do. :)
I'm super excited about this release, you and the whole team have done a great job 👍
What an excellent release. The main thing missing is the optional ability to "float" the left and right management panels, so that the main edit area can remain full width without causing a visually ugly re-flow every time either panel is open or closed.
There's an experiment to try detachable panels (coincidently published this morning!) github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/pull/53407
@@richtabor Thanks for the link, that is promising. I hope it matures and gets merged. Good to know I'm not the only one that misses this feature.
I haven't used wordpress in such a long time and now I really want to create a theme with some cool pattern and play with stuff.
Yes, please do :)
@@richtabor agreed 👊🏼. I 'blocked' some time out of my schedule to dig into it with some migration projects and now I'm going to have a hard time going back.
Awesome, And the new wall decor brings a whole new vibe to the space. ✨👌
Thanks! These lights are fun :)
Rich, very cool video! Can you maybe share a bit on your video setup (used hardware and software), or is there a link available already, maybe? Thanks a lot!
I don't have a video/link - but I'll write something up. In short, I used my iPhone as the camera, a Neumann TLM 102 mic, and Screen Studio + Final Cut for recording and editing.
Pretty, pretty, pretty cool!
Great content Rich 👍
Thanks!
You make it so easy, great video
