Just a place to share videos of things around the farm or local area.
We are a 130~ acre tree farm. Are uneek things involves are circular blade sawmill and older equipment used on the farm.
Like most farms, very little is outsourced.
We do just about anything repair or work wize.
In the last few years, I've added recycled vegetable oil from various fair grounds around the area for use on the farm, in the place of diesel.
The newest item on the place, used for work is made around 1997 and is a work in progress itself
Located in the Oregon coast range, expect most videos to involve water in one way or another. As 6 foot of rain per year is the average for the area. With the exception of fire season, for about 3 months a year we go bone dry.
Completely different from the East Coast, where rain at any point of the year is possible
One other fun fact is, we average 13 days a year with a high over 90F, so where a very cool climate
Mabe a few random things from travels around the country.

CAT 983 track loader, looking for a set of forks. @DieselCreek@LordMuck @letsdig18
Just a walk around of the biggest track loader cat made.
There in the market for a set of forks for it, if anyone knows of a set.
We just stopped by this place to see it in person. After going to the Ohio Paul Bunyan show.
.
Definitely trying to figure out if I can make it back there in the spring.

Just a little talk about having a missfire from fuel starvation. Just the screen on top of the stage 1 fuel water separator/large gunk screen got plugged up. And it was progressively getting worse over 30 minutes or so. I decided to deal with it before it totally emptied the fuel system, as that can make for a serious repiming pain. . just a update for the people in the area, that the road is open. in areas adjacent to the slide, there is a lack of road lines from all the equipment activities. and some rather bad road conditions. so definitely don't go through the area at full speed, as the bad road can really throw an auto around!!

@hardworkingmanoutdoors It mite be a cutting rack, and put banding around each cut section, to possibly save a bunch of labor? There's lots of ways to skin a cat..
🎉🎉🎉🎉
And now you understand why I specify that I'm cutting hard oak or ash in my saw videos- much harder to cut than a softwood like fir or pine! Have you tried end grain sealer to help from the logs cracking while drying?
@@IowaPerformanceSaws i got to experience the hard maple at the April 2024 veteran's firewood event in Indiana. That stuff was flat brutal. . My 2 saws that are rigged more for higher rpm, handled it decent. Basically all my chains are rider ground for way softer wood, so things where a bit ruff. I had most all the saws in my saw lineup video, back there at the event.
Tuff heavy stuff!👍👍
371 is a 71cc
@denisthemenace. for as long as there 50mm there 71cc I'm not aware of any difference in the crank, in terms of stroke changes. . I just naturally say 70cc when it's actually 71cc
👏👏💪💪
That thing is awesome, any things you dislike?
@PhillipDrumz the round file, full comp chain. Not good for full 32" cuts. Chain oiling in full bar cuts, just seems border line enuf. I'm very accustomed to full rap handles, and I'm definitely looking for one for it. . Compression is relatively low, probably a big part of how they got it to pass emissions without haveing a computer controlled carburetor. And a big reason I like it, is no automatic adjustment of things. . I've found a few people that have opened them up, as there's about 0.065 thousands at TDC. Much more then other saws that are around 0.040 thousands. Generally modified saws are around 0.020 thousandths at TDC. People talk about them haveing a lot of kid prof things, to keep from affecting the emissions. As well as how they have a 5 year warranty, for as long as there not modified in any way. . It definitely reminds me of running one of my pre 2010 372s without the stratospheric air system, or x-torque as husqvarna calls it, definitely not something i like. Its A real low end power saw, Mabe even getting back to the feal of a 272xp saw. Sold tell about 1998 in north America, but still available brand new in Brazil.

Man I would love to have a job like that
I have a old 1978 240 timberjack, with a 453 Detroit. Loud as hell ! 😜
@stevengonyaw1617 I've come across one person that had 2 identical machines. Only difference was one was without turbo, the other was with turbo. The turbo was a solid 30% less racket from engine. As the turbo basically acted as a muffler.
Such a great and fascinating work, thanks for sharing your video

Update. Road still fully closed. One month later.
I just went down there myself this evening and all that has changed is that there is a huge pile of gravel where you had been standing to make this video.
I went down there again last night and took a better look at things, the culvert is in and there is massive pile of rock on top of it, they have around eight feet to go to get to where the road level should be.
She's old , but getting it done ! 😜
Nice video 👍❤
Wow ...that is a beautiful structure right there!
And all we did is supply the beams. The amount of planning and work spans nearly 2 years to get it to that point. Sliding doors are planned for the middle 2 bays. . The hole floor structure and posts are pressure treated by a local company. that allows small scale sawmills, to get there products treated for customers.
nice people, nice machine
Looks like a mighty mite saw
Definitely similar. But a few key differences. Put one of each side by side, and the differences are very obvious.
Super cool, grandad had a Garrett 15 with log forks and bucket. Traded it in for a brand new 25 model in 1972.
The front end loader version of a 15? Supposedly only 200 or so where made. We have one as well, but needs some serious care to get running. . Also have a 15 diesel. Same ford 172ci engine, but has a injection pump stuck in the distributor hole lol. Burns half the fuel of the gas version.
Very cool! Looks like that yarder could go through anything!!👍💪
Yeah there very good small scale skidders. Being around 8,000lbs really gives it a major advantage over a tractor. In the new market. But you can still move it legal with a pickup truck. Only it requires a deck over trailer as it's close to the 102" legal limit for public roads with no permits. i had a small hard wood job once, and it handled that stuff like that was its purpose in life, was moving 3 35ish foot alders at once on mostly flat or down hill land. Alder is Neary 5,000lb per cord green.. there really is nothing out there like it being made. . It's a gerrett 15 There is a smaller 10 they made as well. There is also a very rare loader version of a 15 as well. We have one of about 200 made. And yes its basically capable of going just about anywhere but a liquid mud hole deeper then it is high. one point in the video with no logs I'm climbing a near 25 degree slope on dirt, no rock. "((The engine is identical to what you find in a ford 9N,8N,2N tractor so mabe close to 40hp at 172ci.))" . I estimated its gear reduction in super low once, came up with something around 175 to 1 in lowest gear LOL. when you have traction and gearing, you don't need much hp, LOL.
Can that Prius out run a storm?😂👍
at the fed speed limit i out ran it LOL
Roadside repair👍👍
sorta road side, behind the parts store. far better then a 1,000 toe bill!!!!!
40 mpg is awesome! Sure can’t complain about that👍👍
Sadly the cost of repairs was about the same as had I just came in a truck at 18mpg. I filled with fuel in Casper, Wyoming headed east, and made it all the way back there. Running ethanol free 91 octane at $3.43 a gal. Then I filled back up with the stuff, and got home with about 50 extra, 3.43 is nearly $2 a gal less then out west for the premium. Casper was more or less the half way point. I also did the vast majority of the hole drive without using the intestate. As many western states are posted at 80 and I ran 55ish at best with the dinky little trailer and tires.
Hey David! We got split done👍💪💪👍
Just subscribed,I hope you make it home safely
I made it, about 5 days of delays overall but I made it. I have a little more video from a stop at the national museum of military automobiles. Definitely worth it, should anyone be on the western side of Wyoming.

Thanks for making the trip David! Man we got a lot split.
Yep.. Thats the dictionary definition of getting work done right now. Thanks for watching.
Very nice old skidder
Just the same engine as a old Ford 9n/8n/2n tractor, 172ci gas. Definitely beats a 3pt winch on a 35hp tractor by a long shot, as it's around 8,000lbs
LOL rong video LOL definitly room for improvment.
