hey there . I wanted ask you something about my bikes problem since i ve seen your videos you know a lot about this bike. Basicly i have 2013 crf250l on 50.5k kms about 500 kms ago bike got some weird idle behavior. Once it gets warm and idle drops to normal it skips a beat every 5-10 seconds sometimes it almost dies and recovers from there or it just dies(rarely). Other than that bike runs fine no issue with accelerating smooth on stable rev and higher rev band. This behavior sometimes get worse and affects my launch it cuts the power and stalls. i have video on my profile for better understanding if u can check out and help it ll be much appreciated
@@bora4705 ill take a look mate, they can have some odd moments sometimes. Im just going through mine as ive left them for 3 months, luckily all 3 started instantly but theyre covered in mold!
@@bora4705 i saw your bike stumbling, they do stutter on idle due to emmissions being very lean..... but not that bad! You'll need to read the fault codes first then do some simple resets which are in the online workshop pdf file. If thats no good you'll need to measure resistances on the temperature control switch below the throttle body and the O2 sensor on the left side of the head. Try that lot first.
@ thanks for the advice i ll check them in a free time and keep you updated
@@theravedaddy so i got code 12 at ecm i cleared it and then checked it to see if it comesback but it didnt. Other thing that i didnt mention, before this problem started i took out all the plastic panels for paint and used bike only seat and fuel tank on it for a while and the problem started in that time i dont know if it related with problem
@bora4705 a 12 seems to pop up on all bikes including mine so ignore that. Its usually a lean condition that causes stumbling, the mixture is controlled via the switchon the cylinder head under the throttle body and the O2 sensor. Youll need to do ohms tests on them and check for any air leaks but an air leak will normally cause the idle speed to raise as the ivac motor tries to compensate.
Thanks for the video. Think I might make a similar one as well. Glad I found you on here thank you for posting this 🙏 greatly appreciated I also shared it on a crf 250 group page should get u some views

OMG... an RD400 in Thailand 😮
Did you ever find out what was the problem? I don't see another video on this?
Very interesting. I'm getting an oil mist out out of my weep hole, which suggests I need a new oil seal, but looking at the arrangement, I guess I'll need to fit a new water pump mechanical seal also, as it looks like I'll likely damage it to get to the oil seal - what do you think? P.s. I'm also in Thailand 🙏
Yup, to get the gearbox seal out you have to knock out the water pump seal too. Luckily they're not expensive here so do them both at the same time. You reminded me ive got to take a seal set back to the uk as my crf back there is also misting oil on the frame tube.

That log just slid right our
Love it when theres no straining to get rid of a large one. 😊
Starting issues and a constant whirring that follows RPM. Have you considered pulling it down and checking the sprag/freewheel?
Its all good, i had it apart n did a 301 on it. Its probably just starter switch contacts cos nothing likes being idle for 3 months in the wet season.
Nice one, enjoy i still do after a year or so 👍
The amount of low down load your putting on that fresh piston it wont last long buddy
Ok mate. The guy i buy them from is a household name in the racing world and he doesnt agree. Ive done 2000kms on the other bike and that was run in the same.
Hi from the UK Looks like your living the dream Need some help if you can please I'm no mechanic but I'm in southern Spain My 2014 crf 250l has a problem The Rad fan has stopped working Bike has a bash plate on it and I'm struggling to see where the ECT sensor is Could you help I have a multimeter that I can use to check it Contacted Honda in Spain but very unhelpful Cheers
Yeah im trying to enjoy stuff while i can! The fan is controlled by the grey switch under the throttle body. Take the grey plug off and turn the ignition on, the fan should run constantly. If not theres a pair of oblong relays to the rear in the battery compartment, 1 is fuel pump, the other is fan. You can switch positions and turn the ignition on, then turn the red run switch on. If the relay is good the fuel pump will run the pressure up cycle. Obviously check the fuses! Ive had 2 ECT switches go bad but that usually makes the bike idle at 1500rpm so if its idling ok the switch should be fine.it needs an ohms check to be sure. You can download the manual in a pdf for free with a bit of searching on google, good luck, pop back with any more questions or visit FB honda crf250l 300l tips n tech, the manuals in the files section. 1 last thought, is the fan rotating by hand? Ive seen rads twist and stop the fan from turning. You can spin it from the bottom with your fingers.
@theravedaddy Hi Thanks for your reply I have taken the Grey plug off and the fan now runs The issue now is the engine management light stays on and temp gauge stays on red I'm guessing this is because I have unplugged the Grey switch Even when I rev the bike the lights stay on I mistakenly disconnected the switch near the header pipe which could be the lamba switch I have reved the bike but it's a bit flat I put the lamb switch back in exactly in the same place and the bike now revs out Are the management/ temp lights a problem or shall I just ride it back to the UK !!!!!! When I reconnect the Grey switch, the lights go out and bike revs but fan won't run Sorry for the long message but really appreciate your help Roy
@@guyonacub4335 the lights are on because the switch is disconnected but its proved the fan works and wiring/relay is ok. The problem is no signal to tell the fan to start. You can check for stored fault codes by accessing the red diagnostic plug. Ive got videos on that in my playlist. I think the temp switch is a code 7. Its possible to rig a switched wire to the fan to ride it but you will need to watch for the red light and then turn it on. It should only get hot in slow traffic.
Hi mate, at 18:40 when putting the water pump extender back on did you re use that rubber seal or was it a new one ? I’ve ordered all the parts from Honda to do this but there’s only 1 rubber gasket for the pump. Also missing one of the little metal washers that goes onto the shaft so not sure weather to re use the old parts
That new seal came with the kit, its tricky to get it to sit in the slot, the 2nd seal was the honda one in an engine gasket kit. That washer behind the impellor can be reused if its not heavily corroded. I had 1 that was like new and 1 that was rusty as!
@@theravedaddy I may have to reuse the rubber seal as well then, as they’ve only included the 1 seal for the actual water pump cover
@@motomc6962 yeah their idea was for you to supply a new honda seal. I think i remember that annoying me too but i had a full gasket set on me. A smear of gasket glue will help n just wipe off what squeezes out.
@@theravedaddy not worried about it stopping in place more worried about it being perished and putting it all together just for it to start leaking haha will have to see what it’s like when I get it apart today if need be I’ll have to order one and wait
Just cleaning the old gasket off the casing and noticed a little rubber seal about the size of a 5p lying in the bottom but haven’t a clue where it’s came from do you have any idea please mate ? Can’t see anything on the inside of the casing that it obviously fits on
