He’s been performing long enough that he’s got a whole custom rig that the mic runs through… the right compression, the right reverb, and yes, just the right amount of autotune. Anyone who has spent years in a studio can pick up on the subtle work it’s doing to tighten things up. Actually, this is the PERFECT use of autotune. Autotune on someone who can’t sing sounds wild. Autotune on someone who doesn’t need it sounds unnatural. Autotune when someone has slightly pitchy moments is the only correct use case for it, and here it’s working perfectly. Look, he can still sing… this is 90% him. But that last 10% that makes his weaker notes stronger, his looser notes more controlled, and his pitchy moments sound perfect - that’s all the special setup he’s singing through. He wasn’t going to agree to do this show without his rig and his sound guy… Not trying to take anything away from the performance, it’s just a tool that singers use, and he’s using it properly.
