This video was made 3 years ago. I'm considering purchasing one in the US. What are tune up and repair costs on these? Are repair people keeping up with the education needed to do repairs? While there may be a warranty, I've heard horror stories about how long it takes to get the machine back and losing the warranty time. It would be nice to hear answers before purchasing.

I’m so disappointed the 118 has been discontinued. I’ve had mine (7 of them) in my teaching studio for 10 years. They handle everything thrown at them from finest chiffon to multiple layers of denim or leather and take rough handling by some of the students. They’re awesome. Many (probably several dozen) of my students have bought one for themselves. The Onyx is not a suitable replacement.

I cannot press any of the side controls while the machine is still sewing as the demonstrator recommends because none of my toes spread out to the side like the demonstrator's fingers do. And I'm wearing shoes. Unless of course I decide to control it with my hand as the demonstrator does but then I wouldn't be able to control what I'm sewing. A very, very expensive item with the poorest set of instructions I have ever seen, none of which work to explain how it ties off, if it ties off, despite it being advertised as tying off. And the Pfaff version is no better.

So does this foot fold the fabric once. But not hide the edge. To hide the edge do you do another row of stitches

could the clips be interfering with the bobbin thread? Perhaps they are getting caught?

Very good video. Does Designer Ruby 90 have a built in camera for precise positioning as Designer Epic 2? And what are the differences between Ruby 90 and Epic 2? I’m interested in the Epic 2 or the new Pfaff Creative Icon 2. Leaning toward the Epic 2 for wider foot space and easier access to changing needle and foot. And Love the Epic 2 user friendly LCD Screen compared to Pfaff. Now, watching your video on the Ruby not sure what is really the difference between this sewing & embroidery machine and the new Epic 2?

I have one and cannot get it to work. I am still gathering by hand.

I’ve tried and tried It works well on one layer but on two I don’t know what I’m doing wrong My under gathering fabric wants to go to the right and my upper flat fabric wants to go left I don’t get enough seam allowance on the upper fabric I’ve tried with overlooking the upper fabric first but then it doesn’t feed through the foot well at all Any advice would be greatly appreciated Thank you

I use the extra strong magnets in the corners and magnetic badge holders that are long and flat on the sides, they weigh a lot less than the main magnets

This appears to be a wonderful machine, and that attachment is very interesting for me. I know that Viking and Pfaff are the same company- SVP, and Pfaff just released the ICON 2, and that machine has the new circular embroidery attachment that accepts not only ribbons, but also cords, yarns, beads and sequins. Can this machine be updated to operate the new attachment, like the Epic 2?
