This channel has a collection of science and mathematics demonstrations that can be used in elementary and secondary school, as well as in university classrooms.
Exploring the physics of colour
Maybe you like painting? Maybe you are wondering about the colours of beautiful rainbows. What is the physics behind the colour of light we see or behind the colours of different paints we see in a piece of art. What does it mean when we talk about primary colours? This video will help you answer these questions.

Waves and Energy Transfer
Have you thought about waves and what does it mean that they transfer energy, but not matter? This simple demo will help you answer this question. We also recommend to explore PhET simulation: Wave on a string phet.colorado.edu/en/simulations/wave-on-a-string
Resonance: Breaking a wine glass
There are many ways to break a wine glass: some are more interesting and elegant than others. During a science outreach event at LV Rogers secondary school in Nelson, BC Prof. Valery Milner from the University of British Columbia showed students how a physicist does it. He used the phenomenon of resonance. He generated a sound wave of the frequency matching the natural frequency of the glass an...
Exploring pulleys and mechanical advantage
If you every wondered how pulleys work and why we use them, this video is for you. Newton's laws can be used to explain the physics behind the operation of a pulley system and why we gain a mechanical advantage by using a combination of pulleys. The video also introduces excellent resources that will help you understand how a system of pulleys work.
Exploring accuracy and precision in scientific measurement
In this video we explore how scientific measurements can be characterized using accuracy and precision. An example of curling will be used to illustrate it. If you heard the terms "(in)accurate and (im)precise measurement" but are not sure what they mean, this video is for you.
The sound of music: Exploring sound waves
Have you ever wondered how the musical instruments, such as a cello or a violin produce sound? If you want to know more about it, we invite you to watch this video.
Learning Math&Science with your Family - Video 1
In this video University of British Columbia professor - Dr. Marina Milner-Bolotin (blogs.ubc.ca/mmilner/) shares ideas about how to explore the concepts of area and perimeter using a free online simulation by PhET Group: phet.colorado.edu/en/simulation/area-builder. Your child will be able to explore these concepts, test their understanding and most importantly see that mathematics is not abou...
Raspberry Pi Robot Antenna
In this project we will show you how you can build a robot and program it using Raspberry Pi and Scratch.
In this video we demonstrate how sound can be produced. Vibrating tuning forks generate vibrations of air which propagate to our ears creating sound. Sound can propagate through water or other media. We use a Chinese spouting bowl to show this process.
Geometric optics for students and teachers
