How to Fly Aviat Pitts Special S2S - Tutorial
มุมมอง 5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Today I teach you how to fly this amazing aircraft! It's an extremely fun and acrobatic aircraft. It's really easy to start up and fly. landing is a little bit more difficult because of the landing gears orientation. during this tutorial, I found out why it was not starting and fixed it so stay tuned to see what went wrong!
Can I Land Using Only My Instruments?

Today I attempt using only my instruments to land this aircraft. I do this by setting a fog preset in Microsoft flight simulator 2020. This creates no visibility. if you want these presets click this link. flightsim.to/file/6079/dnbof-weather-presets-pack

    Thanks for the tutorial, I have two questions though. What does Magneto do and how to I land more easily? Whenever I am landing, I try to turn off the engine but I end up floating up a little before I land.

    • @soulyflying5372
      @soulyflying5372 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the magneto is just a voltage generator to generate spark for the engine on start up. And to answer your second question, right before you land cut the engine to idle and let your plane glide dow onto the runway. Also watch your speed when you land, floating is caused by coming in to fast when you land.

    • @eldabo7838
      @eldabo7838 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey learn to slow your plane down and control airspeed and landings will become cake. Get your speed in control before you start your final decent, and use your flaps to create air resistance and make a slow descend to your landing. my landings were horrible until I learnt how to control my speed. Jump into your favourite plane, take it to the sky and trim it out. Then practice reducing airspeed, when your figure it out apply it to landing

    The reason why the checklist says to lean the mixture prior to engine start is to insure the magnetos do not foul. Once the engine seems to start turning, then you advance mixture to full rich. It is a bit confusing, and will require a bit of practice to prevent a hung or hot start. I hope this helped in some capacity.

    • @pittss2c601
      @pittss2c601 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You mean the spark plugs do not foul, not the magneto.

    • @christiantortorici
      @christiantortorici 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pittss2c601 Yes and no. The individual magnetos control a separate hemisphere of the engine's spark plugs each, so foiling the magnetos would result in a performance degradation and overall loss of thrust. So yes and no; the result will be a loss of thrust as if the plugs are foul, when, in reality, it is just the magnetos in this scenario.

    • @pittss2c601
      @pittss2c601 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@christiantortorici I have never sand blasted a magneto to eliminate fouling although I have done that many times for my spark plugs.

    ok guys, I have the same problem with the turn to the left.( this started to me after update # 5 ). I don' t have the problem with the extra and the cub , only with the pitt's and I am using the TPR thrustmaster .I have try different settings of the sensitivity with in the sim , didn't help. and yes , the only way to takeoff , is to push the stick down to get the tail wheel of the ground and then it easyer to control the pitt's on the ground with the rudders pedals . landing to me is no problem . I like to know how you set up your rudders pedals , your takeoff was quit smooth even if you run of the side a bit.

    You should try X-plane 11 and DCS its better for ppl who want to fly irl at some point. Also a cold start is when the engine has been cooling for more than 30 minutes, a Hot start means that the engine has already been started up in the previus 30 minutes
