TW: brief mention of December 18th The brilliance to debut move at a fashion show is so understated. The non-koreans at fashion shows love breaking boundaries in fashion and culture in general. The androgyny and sensuality of Move was so up their alley it's crazy. I know a few of them were not expecting too much from this performance due to stereotypes about kpop and kpop solo male idols. But Taemin's talent and the concept got their attention like no other. You can see people suddenly start paying attention when he begins to walk and when he hits the hip move. Phones start to go up, people's heads turn to focus on him, and you can even see a few ppl turn to the person next to them then focus back. Some people are misinterpreting the looks of foreigners to be derision. But I'm telling you that it's definitely not. The skill and sensuality in this performance is clear and we do not mock skill like this. I hope he stayed to make some further connections in the fashion world. Move might now have won music show awards in Korea but he caught some serious outside attention for this. Not to mention the alphabet mafia(am one of them) caught the vibes and then looked into SHINee as well. I can't help but wonder how much the proportion of LGBTQ+ shawols has shifted after Move. Unfortunately, Jonghyun also brought further attention and probably bolstered the number of LGBTQ+ fans as well after December 18th. It's a sad thing to acknowledge but many LGBTQ+ figures have died before their time. And Jonghyun was as "out" as he could be and was extremely vocal about his support. And I think the community is used to having to memorialize our revolutionary figures as almost a way to pay them back for the hardships they endure. I've certainly digressed a bit here but I think it's a significant part of SHINee's continued success now in Korea and in the west. I hope Taemin continues to break boundaries and cement himself and SHINee as revolutionary cultural figures.
