which is most reliable? want to buy a 125. speed doesn’t matter to me as much as reliability, don’t want it to break down on me or put a hole in my wallet. yz or cr???

A year old comment but whatever. These are the two most reliable 125's you can buy, typically you can't really go wrong with either, but there are always lemons with every brand. In the long run you'll probably get parts more easily for the YZ. Bought my 06 YZ125 back in 2013 and never did anything to it except replaced pistons whenever I was feeling like it, kept the air filter clean-ish and changed the transmission oil every now and then. I made that bike scream every time I was on it and it never let me down. Until in 2020, after 7 years of abuse, as I was riding it on a very soft terrain, the crankshaft bearing gave up. That bike was a tank for a 125, and that has been my experience with Yamahas in general, just bulletproof engineering with great performance.

A yz will beat a cr anyday with the right rider. 10+more hp stock. I own a cr and wouldn't change, but facts prove the YZ has always been faster
