Thank you to everyone who spoke and thank you to the School Committee for moderating a civil comment period. I want to add one simple thing I forgot to say at the event. Of course we hold the safety of all of our children as the highest priority and within that concern for protection we need to realize that trans children are actually more likely to be the victims of violence. Like with people who are experiencing homelessness biases develop that assume the opposite of what is true statistically.

It says a lot that all the comments are about this nonsense that is clearly very confusing to many of these "be kind" voices. The pastor should understand that homophobia and gender stereotypes is what is pushing the trans pronoun nonsense. So ironic that churches are embracing it then trying to use "love and compassion", ignoring the mental health issues. THIS trend is contributing to the epidemic of loneliness that has exploded with young people in western country. And then comes the English teacher going along with it, while maybe she doesnt get it that all of her PD has been directing her that THIS is how and what to teach.

Hopefully in 2023, Warwick schools can get students up to proficiency in Math and English/Reading. It's embarrassing to pay taxes (60% of) that go to Warwick schools, especially when I have no children, to see Warwick children not even able to meet proficient levels, forget about excel in any way. This will NOT prepare them to do well in college and life.

Why is this in my recommended?

You don't sound so sure on the cost. We all know it will go over budget by a hundred million at least. Is this a fixed bid? I doubt it. The matching money is nice, but paying covid costs for materials, supply chain issues and labor challenges, this doesn't sound like the right time to embark on this type of project. Enrollment has been declining for 20 years straight, why can't we build one new school?

This is going to be managed as poorly as they managed the maintenance that they should have done for years prior!

1. The tax impact is only that of the impact from the school construction and not from all other city expenditures that continue to escalate. 2. 68% of the school employees do not live in Warwick and will have no sharing of the sacrifice. 3. The school department has not informed anyone that the underwriting fee for the bond is an additional $11.697 million 4. They fail to tell everyone that short term bonds must be used and they have not disclosed the current interest on any of the bonds. 5. The total estimated pay back according to school department documents is $525 million. 6. The school department and the city council failed to hold informational meetings to educate the public with fact and to answer questions. Instead they have played upon emotion. 7. The Warwick schools proficiency levels in all aspects is far below the state average and has been for years. 8. Not one page of the 2300 pages of "demographics" that the WSD put out addressed any concerns of seniors on fixed incomes and the ramifications to our most sensitive residents. 9. Why should RIDE or the WSD dictate tot the residents that we MUST build 2 schools or else we get no state aid? 10. This process has not been vetted correctly on purpose. There is a reason for that and that reason is the hidden costs that have not been brought to the attention of the public.

Fiscal responsibility? Can't wait to see comments get turned off if people actually watch this with their brains on.

Thank you parents for stepping up and speaking out publicly. I agree with the unmasking sentiments spoken here for our school age kids. My 2 kids in preschool had a very successful year last year, they were not wearing masks, in a NYC school, and not one case all year and not one school closure. When is the next meeting?

My son didn't wear a mask in pre-k. He also drools on masks. I would have to pack over a dozen a day. I've spent the better part of last year trying to train him not to. He can't help it. He is 5! We switched to face shields and he's done great. He even wore it to kindergarten orientation. But now I'm being told that's not an option!😭

It's almost insane to post this comment since NOBODY seems to have watched. But anyway, if you haven't yet, you ought to, go on the web and bring up the RI Course List from Edgenuity that is on slide 1 (~1:15:30) and read the last page. IT'S DISTURBING in that it's all about how OUR children will be INDOCTRINATED with LGBTQ, RACISM, EQUITY...what Edgenuity refers as "Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion". There's a 3-hour INDOCTRINATION VIDEO that's based on a documentary entitled "I'm not racist...Am I?". This is CRITICAL RACE THEORY INDOCTRINATION...designed to DIVIDE and HUMILIATE YOUR CHILDREN! I think PARENTS ought to stand up and be heard, realize that the folks on this School Board are borderline COMMUNISTS and need to be recalled immediately, at the peril of your CHILDRENS' WELFARE.

I was unable to get questions in in time. Will any curriculum related to critical race theory or 1619 project be considered for the future or is it being taught currently?

Put the middle and high school students back in school at least 4 days before trying to figure out 5 days for elementary. In addition, get the buses back because getting the kids to and from school is near impossible for some families!

On the topic of Vets getting a facelift- The MOST important thing about a school isn’t how proud parents and teachers are of the space- it’s how proud the students are. Giving B wing down some new paint and a mural will look great for visitors, faculty and staff, and the kids as they walk for a minute down the hall. There are 2-3 classrooms off that hallway. Students may spend the least amount of time in that hallway all day. It’s mainly offices. The focus should be on classrooms. Where the kids are learning. Focus there first. Give the classrooms facelift first- happy, eager to learn and proud kids are the roots of a successful school- not a pretty mural for parents and teachers to oooo and ahh at. Please re- think that plan Mr. Baxter. Thank you. Overall, I was impressed with your efforts to improve Warwick Schools.

Are you guys ever going to stop acting like children and actually HELP the children? We have been in this pandemic for nearly 1 year and the school has not been able to figure out how to safely place children back in school. You were all elected to speak for the children and on behalf of the parents. The lack of action and professionalism is appalling.
