I tried this a while back when just getting into additive free tequila and I have to say it was very disappointing. They are additive free and joined the Additive Free Alliance before they had to remove all of the brands. That goes to show you even if it’s additive free it can still be bad. Also never ever take the advice of a Total Wine associate.
Great video
Glad you enjoyed it
This was a very good sip. I also got NO alcohol on the nose or palette. I suppose ut should be no surprise coming from 1414. 👍🏼
They make very good tequilas ! Salud 🥂
Never take a recommendation from Total Wine everything they recommend is trash
I agree with that 💯 !
For it not being good why is half the bottle gone homie? Lol 😂
Poured a glass for some of the homies after a purchased it. Salud 🥂
Diffuser perhaps?
I just looked up their nom on tequila match maker , it does mention diffuser.
💚💚💚💚💚💚
Thanks for the review … 💚
Tequila Ocho is the best!
Ok the background noise made me skip the review.
I have one that was given to me as a gift. I'll try it soon after I finish some others. Thank you for the review !
Right on ! Thank you for watching, I’m sure your going to like this tequila. Salud 🥂
Nice review. Organics are different for sure. Love Sanatanera Kosher Blanco. They are also expensive. Other than Blanco, not sure would buy anything else. Felt Anjeo lacking some punch (wood forward character, soft) so added fresh peach stave one week to meld with pear, apricot fruity profile and must say I like it ❤
@@wespowell8098 that actually sounds good ! Thanks for the recipe. Kosher and tahona are made at 1123 the Añejo at 1466 perhaps it would be a different story if the añejo was Cascahuin.
Im a big fan of your podcasts, , im yet to try the Jay S.B. , i have the regular repo and i like it. Again , big fan homeboy, cause your a drinker, not a collector. Straight Up !! I gotta find the S.B. we dont have this in my area. So ¡ SALUTE ! From Western Massachusetts
@@donaldpelletier5896 Gotta drink them up to know what they’re all about ! Salud 🥂! Thank you very much I appreciate the support, I’m glad to hear you like my videos. Try looking online , maybe Old Town Liquor in San Diego, I believe they ship , by the way I have the regular single barrel , I believe the Jay Baer single barrel is different.
Adoro
That Siempre Vivo is amazing
Bro your special effects are so funny😂
Thank you , I’m glad you liked it .
Do you plan on reviewing the la ladera 2021 XA? I have yet to see someone review it
I do , but only when I find it for a fair price , it’s ridiculously expensive in my area.
That single barrel is 🔥. I'm buying a few more bottles tomorrow 😂😂🥃🥃
@@rigofishing That makes two of us ! 🥂 salud
What a great video, man! Love the content! Just got a bottle of Viva Mexico high proof blanco and it is a banger! You’d enjoy it!
@@rickstrokesOG Thank you I appreciate that. Viva Mexico high proof sounds good, I have not seen it in my area, but when I do I’m definitely picking one up , thank you for letting me know. Salud 🥂
@@tequilaforeverforevertequi4647 might have to order it online, idk if it’ll hit shelves. I only caught it on ferment and still .. apparently it’s a special release for that site!
@@rickstrokesOG ill definitely take a look , thank you for letting me know.
Great video
@@silverlion2378 Thank you.
This bottle doesn’t make sense to me either. To me it’s not a single barrel. It’s aged in 2 different barrels and blended together…and a total of 14 months = Anejo 😂
It would not be considered an añejo if a reposado and añejo are blended together, itself label as the lowest expression used which would be the reposado , but all of the information found suggest that it was aged 14 months total in a single barrel witch cannot be if its aged in American white oak for two months and then finished in French oak for 12 . 🤔
also...1% of a 26 ounce bottle, is 1/4 ounce. that might not sound like a lot, but that is equivalent to 150 drops from an eyedropper. Imagine the chemist squeezing 150 drops into your bottle before it gets corked!
I don’t want to imagine !
Good discussion! I hear the people that say 'drink what you like', but price is still a thing, and man some of those additive ones ain't cheap, and should probably be priced like liqueurs. Nobody likes a pretender. On the flip side, a lot of social media has made it seem if any hint of vanilla is in there, its bad and has additives. I have seen many great anejos get called out unfairly. Same problem, ignorance on how its actually produced. Which is a shame as I find that to be the most fun part - how its made and the differences in each.
I blame the CRT for allowing this junk to pass for traditional tequila. Many additive containing products come in fancy / Luxury bottles, so really we are paying for the Luxury not the quality, and yes many others are overpriced. I totally understand what you are saying , many ignorant people. Vanilla and other aromas and flavors come from barrel influence , most the time you can tell the difference from fake vanilla or artificial flavors.
technically, you could say barrel influence maybe considered an addition to tequila?
Oak barrels are known to shape the flavor and appearance of the spirit, the spirit soaks into the wood has a reaction and compliments the spirit. Remember Your not adding a barrel to tequila, you are adding tequila into the barrel , my understanding is oak additives are - Powder Extraction, granulate , wood chips , Staves , stick extraction and in liquid form. Those speed the process and are also not traditional.
@ some of the barrels they are were previously used for aging brandy ,wine,rum.etc.then from what read they charred the staves barrel then put in the tequila..
@@tequilaforeverforevertequi4647 I would agree and say maybe on the barrel influence, except that Tequila has always been stored/aged in barrels. But it's definitely not on the same level as adding sugar, vanilla or caramel flavors to change the flavor in order to make up for something that the tequila didn't have on it's own because of short cuts in the process. I want to drink Tequila, not flavored Tequila.
If they add some natural charred staves to a barrel for additional flavor its not that bad considering its not artificial, but make sense if its added to the tequila it can be considered an additive. My understanding is that there are artificial additives and natural additives , I assume people are worried about the artificial, me personally I care about traditional methods, the most important thing is I don’t want to be lied to or fooled.
I agree 100 % I may be guilty of drinking additive tequilas that I don’t buy or sometimes purchase for review purpose. I may like some of those tequilas but when I rate them I’m extremely hard on them because there not traditional tasting tequilas or better said real tequilas.
Thank you for this informative video! I only go for additive free.
Traditional methods is the way to go ! Salud 🥂
True. The CRT backed by the Biggest distilleries are in a campaign to stop TM and others from talking about the additives because of $$$$$$
If you are using additives it’s because you don’t care about tradition, culture and the people who drink it , it’s all about the money. I also believe there are people who don’t know what they are doing and when they mess up they use additives to protect their investments. Lastly there are many who bandwagon and follow the money , many good distilleries turn them down, the ones who except them are the ones with open contracts and have over 50 plus brands.
Trophy to you & Sergio Cruz 👍
Salud 🥂
money talks! (I enjoy your sound effects) Es el dinero p**o! Need to try that Viva Mexico!
Thank you I appreciate feedback! Viva Mexico is a good tequila . Salud 🥂
how do you compare this to Lalo Hi proof?
@@guest9922 unfortunately I have not tried , I haven’t even seen it in my area.
I agree with you! I really like and enjoy this HP 👍 I think this is my favorite HP that came out this year
@@c_los_p7299 Right on thank you! The years not over yet though. Salud 🥂
Just pick up the Nocturna 101 proof and Single barrel. That single barrel is 🔥🔥🔥 and dangerous. Easy to drink and taste like maple syrup 😂😂😂. The wife love that single barrel ❤❤❤🥃🥃🥃.
@@rigofishing I just picked up both of those and yes they are amazing, my wife also loved it !
Appreciate ya, young Tequilaero. Anything Sergio Cruz makes is the bomb. Really enjoy YeYo too, organic feel (don’t think it’s designed as such) but tells you how pure his process is. Have one wood aging too 😉
@@wespowell8098 thank you . Yes I have been enjoying tequilas from Nom 1414 , really good. What wood are you using for this one ?
I sampled it a couple nights ago. It was good/okay. Not great. I’m not a fan of finished tequila. Glad I got to try it but I won’t be buying a bottle.
Definitely different, it’s good unique but it’s more like a seasonal one time tequila in my opinion.
Enjoyed the sol far more than the luna
What would you rate this ?
@tequilaforeverforevertequi4647 Luna - 86. Sol - 87
I am well versed in the world of tequila. This Yeyo “Sol” Joven is absolutely amazing, and it is extremely unique. The nose is phenomenal, the flavor profile is outstanding .., this to me I can sip everyday. I respect your video, but at the same time I completely disagree with your review, that’s ok though !!
@@glennbar66 It’s okay to disagree , we all have different palates and opinions. I did say it was good and unique . Thanks for your feedback and salud 🥂
Got this for 100 this past evening. Unreal how good it is from the first sip. Can't wait to see how it gets evolves after it opens a tad.
Very good price for this amazing tequila. Salud 🥂
It just hit MA, I’m seeing $120-$130. I grabbed one and will pick it up this weekend.

@@silverlion2378 thank you !
I’ll take the TEQUILA OCHO!
Cheers 🥂
The 2024 on the nose alcohol but strong citrus and flowers maybe, pepper
@@tombodet7918 what’s your score looking like for this bad boy ?
@@tequilaforeverforevertequi4647 I gave it a 91. the price, aroma and citrus, fruit made me go a little high .....maybe. The alcohol is a bit stout for some people, but I expected it. I found some 2023 so I'll crack it open this weekend and compare the two.
@ Sounds like a blind test is needed ! It’s a good tequila , I put it away for now , I’m looking forward to a blind test with Don Vicente 108. Salud 🥂 amigo let me know how the two compare.
@@tequilaforeverforevertequi4647 I will. Salud !
Love this anejo and the brand as a whole. I still have yet to try the high proof blanco. Corrido is all over here in AZ and at a great price point.
Glad to hear you have this brand available to you in your state , in my area total wine just started carrying the blanco, repo and thee añejo. Glad to hear the whole lineup is good , now I’m looking forward to trying them all.
Your scores are spot on. Wasn't a fan of Dos Angeles at all, actually gave it away. I have both 1st releases of Cazcanes rosa Blanco & repo... 1st release is better than the 2nd. Haven't opened the 1st release rosa repo yet... didn't bother to buy the 2nd release rosa
Happy to hear you agree , lucky you got to try the 1st Cazcanes batch salud !🥂
Liked the reposado. The blanco was okay, but not something I'd buy again. Nice review, as usual.
Thank you for watching and your feedback. Personally I think this a good tequila, worth having but not repurchasing.
Like Cazcanes usually, but the rosa blanco to me was overly bitter & astringent.
I thought the blanco was delicious and sweet , this repo was a bit more bitter in my opinion, we all have different palates or ways of describing a tequila , what would you rate the blanco and the repo rosa ?
For sure, not saying you're wrong, just saying my experience was a bit different. Partly, I think I expected more for the rosa blanco because of its high price point. I haven't had the repo rosa yet.
@@capibn agreed, everyone’s experience different . As far as Cazcanes goes I believe most of their products are expensive, good quality but overpriced.
Loved the Puntas 2024. Bought multiple bottles at MSRP. Price gouging stores are the worst. Cooked agave sweetness, baking spices, spearmint, pepper, tropical fruits & citrus, vegetal/herbal, anise note, minerals, sweetness.
I don’t know ! I remember liking the 2023 more , but this is still a good tequila. Try Don Vicente 108 and tell me what you think. What is msrp for this tequila?
@@tequilaforeverforevertequi4647 My understanding is right around what you said, $75-79.
Luckily I have a couple of go to stores. So far three 2023 bottles $69 and a three locally for $74 ! Puntas is definitety in my top 5.
Those are the prices I like to hear ! Have you tried it the new 2024 ? If you what do you think ?
@@tequilaforeverforevertequi4647 I have! The aroma is amazing. Cooked agave, alcohol, strong citrus, pepper, flowers and fruit. The alcohol and the citrus are very prominent all the way thru the long after finish. If your not a HP person, I say don't buy it. I really, really like it, especially for the price that I paid.
Wild you are basing your entire review off the neck. That juice needs time to breathe and open up as you go down the bottle. This is an easy 90 point tequila bro.
I have tried this Tequila Ocho on several occasions, experimented with different glassware and given it time to open up, my rating is based on my taste , experience and my opinion . 90 is a respectable rating for this tequila but in my personal opinion 87-88 is good, just remember we don’t all have the same palate. Thank you very much for your feedback and for watching salud 🥂
Keep going buddy; I appreciate your videos.
Glad you like them!
