Just came across your channel, love it. I am 40 and still ride everyday. I went from BMX trails and park to mountain bikes about 2 years ago but took a year Hiatus due to an injury and a stolen bike. I am now back in the saddle on Roscoe 9 with plenty of upgrades and I absolutely love it love it and can't wait to get up out of Florida and go hit some real trails
I started mountain biking nearly 50 years old .. 🤣
40 is the perfect age to start!
I'm 52 bad knees and extremely overweight and needed to start exercising and while I am not mountain trail riding yet. That is my goal I purchased a fat tire while that could support my 375 lbs and have really enjoyed riding it so far. I pedal the entire time I am on it. I know it is not the same as as regular but it is better than the recliner and a bag of chips. And I am going to keep trying.
Just started at 40, was ripping for 3 months, before I took a drop and landed in the hospital for 4 days... 2 weeks until I can ride again. I rather be in for trying to better my health, then in it for not.
I'm 54 and still kicking ass
I'm 50. Just started. Full send!
Starting after 40? IDK depends,40+ is too old to be taking big falls.
Definitely too late. Just give up any thought of riding your bike down beautiful single track, enjoying rollers, overcoming steep hills, thrilling close calls. Settle down, take your meds and enjoy the rocking chair, gramps.
I didn't start having sex until after 40 years old. It wasn't too late.
Sounds a bit like my story. Started riding an old Huffy when I was in my early 40s. Transitioned to a Walgoose (Walmart Mongoose) when the Huffy gave up the ghost, then got a Jamis (a real mountain bike at last!) when I was 52. I'm 55 now, and in the best shape I've been in years, out hitting the jumps like I'm a much younger man. I absolutely love it! Don't let age talk you out of living and loving life!
Dream hard tail right there
It’s never too late to start, just don’t take off too much time if you take a break or get injured. Getting back to your peak can take a while.
im 61 still killing it on the trails, I'lll be heading up to Jarrods Place in October for 3 days!!! If any old guys want to join me let me know, it will be my first time ever riding a DH park.
Heyyy! 43 here! Also trying to make good progress without breaking bones. lol
Started again at 48 after some idiocies in my 20s. Now 57, planning to ride through 77 at least.
I'm 53 and getting back into it. Last time I rode was 2011.
34 here, getting my bike today. Reading all the comments gives me hope.
Same exact thyroid problems. I ultimately had it removed after radiation did nothing. I know it's one medication for another. But now I got my life back. People don't understand how being hyper destroys your health and life
53 been riding 4 years at my pace NOTHING to prove to anyone but me. Enjoy have fun that's all that matters
Started at 49 and asked myself what took me so long to do it. Got nothing to prove , just fun.
I am 49 and i just started 3 months ago.
I'm 70 and I got my first mtb 3 months ago , I have not ridden a bike since my teens . What a blast !!! I can't wait to get out there every day and put some miles down . The secret to begin with is to know when you need a break , don't push yourself until your heart is racing and you can't get your breath take regular stops for a few moments . You would be amazed how quickly your stamina builds There is also the mental health aspect . I feel better already than I have done in years . YEEHAAAA!!!!!
Grew up BMX racing, quit riding until I was 40 when I started BMX racing again. Started riding MTB at 46 and still shredding at 50. Jumping bigger jumps than I ever had access to as a kid but not doing as many tricks.
55 and just started MX and MTB...keep on living or will just be waiting to check out
Fucking awesome!
I'm 50 and just started trail riding this year with my 13 year old son. Also picked up a Garmin watch to push myself on my running. Got my VO2 max up from 39 to 44 in 2.5 months. I can honestly say I'm a NOOB on the trails, but I'm loving every minute of it. You're too old when you're in the box pushing up daisies!
I started MTB seriously at 43. Crashed a fair bit at first but now I am fine riding within my limits. Jumping will get you injured for sure so just know that.
No I switched from gravel and road bike to mountain at 48 yo just gotta be in cardio and muscular shape
I started mountain biking at 62 years old. When I take off my helmet after passing everyone on the downhill they say "I was not expecting that". I know what they mean. Caveat: I only started mountain biking because after 32 years of motocross I can't do that anymore, too many soil sampling events takes it's toll.
Retired the first of this year, tuned up my Giant Trance, new tires and at 67 years, now feel 21! Well maybe 23.
“Bug sandwich existence” 😂
No! Do yourself a solid, quit counting, reciting or telling anyone about how many of this or thats you have accumulated. It does not add up to anything other than a certain number that people use to instruct you on how you are or how you are not allowed to behave, act on or not act. Just like the clock on the wall, numbers are in many cases simply a tool used by tyrants.
ABSOLUTELY THE BEST MOTIVATION!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!
I started at 55 and I’m having a blast. It’s never too late.
started racing mtb at 42 💪🏼
Where do you ride ? Blair Witch Woods ? BTW - Great Vid !
@@johnochsner7913 Gun Powder area mostly. But Burkittsville isn't too far away. 😂
lol NO! .. I just did the emerald mountain epic race in Steamboat ..and i am 55..
I started in Jan 24, at 62..here in N County San Diego.. it’s a blast.
First off, this is a GREAT Video!!! I’m turning 48 this year and have always gone for “bike rides” but this year I dusted off my 20 year old Trek and have been making a point to do more and go farther almost daily even if it just a short ride to the pond near me. I will say that thinking about your age will slow or stop you from doing things but it is definitely bullshit. Remember that a little achievement for someone else might be a huge accomplishment for you and that’s all that matters! Have fun and again, GREAT Video!!!
55 just restarting after 20 years, XC bike to new e-mob to help out the legs and lungs and keep me at it. Thanks for giving me some confidence that I might make it alive!
I’m 73 and still grinding up the hills and riding advanced trails. You don’t quit mt biking because you get old. You get old because you quit mt biking.
Love this I’m 35 and barely going to start mtb purchased my gt aggressor pro haven’t rode a bike since I was 12. 😅
@@CaptainOscarBarbosaare you me lol I’ll be 34 and I got the same bike. I haven’t rode since a kid too lol
Awesome, I'm 39 and started doing trails at my local track a few weeks ago on my (now vintage) 1997 gary fisher bike I got for a birthday as a child. Doing loads of research on modern geometry and looking to buy a new bike in the coming months when I eventually decide between XC or trail. Trail for some fun trails but XC to maybe be dual purpose for some road races to get the fitness up.
At 65 I realized I don't need a heart...so I sold it and bought a sweet mtn bike. Lungs are an option too, and new bikes are always coming. LOL Mtn biking to lose weight???? Roadies worry about their weight. We mtn bikers ride trails, drink high carb drinks, and scarf down pizza...daily. 😅🤣😂
Shouldn't even be asking the question, if you can attempt it then do it...if you want to be a pro then start a lot younger but in MTB with proper guidance you can reach a good standard quickly as an oldie.
If 75 year old North Shore Betty can do it, so can you. 56 myself and just moved to BC so I can mountain bike.
Way to go dick! Love the video and especially the narration 😊
Thumbs up. Subscribed.
I started Snowboarding at 40 and mountain biking at 55. Pump and jump track at 63.
