Glad you found your "correct" Smurfs-soundtrack. 😊 I don't know about an Ultrasound-soundfont. But the Ultrasound can be emulated quite accurately and easily in Dosbox (for DOS) or in PCem (windows). Lots of tutorials are available on YT to give it a try yourself. When you do, keep in mind this game uses different Midi's for both the Windows and DOS-version of the game. 👍

Hehe. Not sure at all. The history of midi-soundtracks about who-did-what is a messy one. The original 1993 Genesis / Mega Drive-version (great article about creating the SEGA-music: www.sega-16.com/2014/03/behind-the-design-disneys-aladdin) was converted for DOS + Amiga in 1994 and used tracker-music. In 1996 the game was again converted for Win95 by East Point Software and now all existing + new tracks were re-composed (?) in the midi-format. I only used the Sound Canvas 55 in this recording because it's the most used soundcard for lots of midi-composers and their games back in the '90.

@@Twilight_Soundtracks there is also a very common standard set of opl patches by the fatman. since the original game was fm synth, there's a fairly good chance that it was actually composed for those. things just sound... off here with the sound canvas to me.

@@Twilight_Soundtracks Having listened to many soundfonts, i am now 100% convinced these were composed for generic fm midi on windows 95 using the Fat Man 2-op patchset. it's incredibly obvious listening to arab rock that this is the case, and i am going to render these tunes to mp3 myself and prepare to upload them.

Yes, the tunes are ordered wrongly in this version. Does hurt the experience a little. I'm just glad they kept Arab Rock in the correct level!

Yeah, you could be right. Conversions of Midi-soundtracks were always hit-or-miss. But...maybe I used the wrong soundcard in this recording for what the midi's were composed for. 😅 The soundcard-world is complicated

As far as I know, Klepacki only composed on "The Lion King" game for studio Westwood. Aladdin was produced by Virgin. But...reliable sources to back this up are difficult to find. Especially since this particular win95-version of Aladdin (with midi-music) is a port from the DOS-version (with tracker-music), which is a port from the original SEGA-version... 😵‍💫

In ScummVM you could use and select one of the SC_55 soundfonts people made, but it will never sound exactly like the instruments of an original SC-55. Especially in separate volumes of instruments and mixing. Another option is to use SoundCanvas VA, the software-version of the SC-55. That works perfectly well with ScummVM. @@scripter466 No, I'm sorry. Since I only use SoundCanvas VA for all my sc-55 games, I never bothered to find a sound-alike soundfont for it... 😅

And actually The Genesis one wins on the best sound And graphics actually. Actually my favorite version of these games is Dos version And Genesis version.
