Our national team riders don’t have enough saddle time training with TT bikes. That’s why they are performing badly. Time Trial bikes are very very very expensive. This is probably the first time our riders competed in TT bikes. If you watch the training camp videos. They were all training TTT on regular road bikes. I have no idea if the Trek Speed Concept TT bikes is a loaner or owned by PhilCycling. The frame set alone starts at $5,000 and it doesn’t come with a seat post, base bar and aero bars. Then you’ll also have to buy a saddle, electronic groupset, rear carbon disc wheel, front aero carbon wheels and tubular tires. PhilCycling will need at least 6 TT bikes to compete at this event. 3 for male and 3 for female riders. Performing well on a TT bike also requires your bike fit would have to be dialed in and optimized to an aero position which you can hold for long periods. I doubt we have the budget to do wind tunnel testing. Do we even have a wind tunnel in the Philippines?
