    I was told I had Cognitive Disassociation Syndrome when I went for ADHD testing, doctor basically said I choose to be dumb. All because I told him I had good grades in elementary school. When all you have to do is count to 100 and you pass

    So what’s the difference between intrusive thoughts/images and attraction, sexual attraction at that?

    • @ErinDavisCounselingServices
      @ErinDavisCounselingServices 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @Dub_97, great question!! Sexual attraction is a natural and fluid aspect of the human experience. It's normal for people to feel attraction to others regardless of gender, as sexuality exists on a spectrum and can change over time. Intrusive thoughts are associated with feelings of stress and anxiety as they conflict with your values and/or beliefs about yourself.

    • @ErinDavisCounselingServices
      @ErinDavisCounselingServices 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Dub_97 Certainly! Understanding sexual attraction and desire can be confusing. Sexual attraction and sexual desire are related but different: • Sexual attraction is the feeling of being drawn to someone sexually based on physical appearance, personality, and/or other qualities. • Sexual attraction is the initial pull or interest you feel towards another person. • On the other hand, sexual desire is the longing or craving for sexual activity or intimacy. • Sexual desire can be driven by physical arousal, emotional connection, or both. • These concepts can be fluid and can vary from person to person. For someone with OCD, knowing the difference between these two can become a source of anxiety and obsessive questioning. OCD thrives on doubt and seeks reassurance. It's common for people with OCD to question, analyze, overthink, and second-guess their feelings intensely. It’s easy to get caught in a loop/cycle where no answer feels “right.” It’s important to recognize that a need for absolute clarity is a hallmark sign of OCD. Trying to find a single, definitive answer will never fully satisfy the intrusive thoughts. An OCD specialist can guide the person with these uncertainties and collaborate on strategies to handle the obsessive questioning. One of these days, I can pull in a sex therapist to come talk on the show! Thanks for your questions and comments!

    Okay yesss the part of this where you talk about not being happy or grateful because something bad is going to happen. I feel that so much. My “something bad” is negative thinking and panic attacks. When I start to feel happy my mind goes to “but you’re depressed” “but you have major spiritual doubt” “but you are gonna be anxious and have panic attacks”. It’s a huge rut to get out of!
