Mexicans/Chicanos have to focus on making music for the lowriding scene. Being mexican but blasting out blac music frm your ranfla is wack! Being blackwashed is aas unacceptable as being whitewashed. As to the clothing and lifestyle, no part of our culture should ever be criminalized
Ojs used to listen to good salsa music
Gangs ruined the lowrider cruise on King and Story, and also gang fighting during the awesome county fair, ruined the fair. It had to shut down early, and eventually it cut down the attendance and ruined it. Gangs brought in the bad drugs that F'd up thousands of kids really bad, and their offspring, crack babies by the hundreds..
My daddy’s crazy lol 0:43 😂😂😂😂
LOVE MY CITY!!

I recommended this video to my Chicano studies class in college. I recommend also sending this video to Chicano Park Museum and Cultural Center. This is a great piece for history to protect.
The cover photo for this video is of Me Belinda Camarena 20 yrs old, my late sister Delma Cortez 22 yrs and our friend Mary Sanchez. That picture was taken on the corner of King and story in the Tropicana parking lot in 1979
@@belindacamarena9366 wow that’s tight gracias for sharing. My condolences on your sister.
@@Pops408SharkFam thank you, I would like to also share, my husband Steve Camarena & I met when we were both 17 at Jack-in-the-box on King & Story and were married at the age of 19. Love those days.

Awesome....🔥💥💯
Barrio Logan heights...
You have to remember black American drove low riders as well.
It would be nice to know where have all of these kids that were interviewed here what became of them, instead of being out there they could’ve been home studying, becoming productive citizens in the world, I’m Latino, and I definitely like the Lowrider scene back then, But it would be good to know whatever happened to these young men and women out there
They are in Elmwood right now. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@ put it this Way I did the low writer scene, with my candy apple red 63 Chevy diamond tuck, interior with hydraulics, and I did 23 years in the military, and I’m not at Elmwood, I guess you have been there huh? Well. he who knows where the trouble goes maybe has been there. have a great day, my young apprentice.
Any one have any stories or websites where you can read up on early gangs in San Jose, Ca?
My momma is at 18:23 looking all cool smoking a cigarette.Yes…there is one Indonesian person in this video. And I’ll be the only Castro Valley person in the comments:)
Nice 😎
I was 15 at the time growing up near there. Closer to downtown but attended Sunset High which was down the street. Notice how thinner the women and people were back then? Now those women you see are somebody’s abulita
I grew up in the Mission District, right off 27 Church St. I remember most of the guys in the interview, good time
I was born in 1979 . Wow this is amazing footage , I was born and raised in East Side San Jose , That Sunny Madrid Guy was super hot for the 1970's . Such Memories.
I just happened to run into a lot of low riders cruising on San Carlos Street in San Jose today in 2024. I grew up in San Jose, so I always saw low riders on the street. It was great watching the beautiful cars driving up and down the street. I'm not a low rider, but I admire that the Chicanos keeps their low rider culture and tradition alive after so many years. I hope that the younger generation will continue to keep this tradition alive for many more years to come.
What’s the song at 8:11

There are two sides to every story, San Jose cops made the people angry, they were abusive killers who got away with their crap under Barbara Boxer. satans angels I called them the biggest gang, that's why they called them placas.
