For those interested in the actual reason there are no more ball pits at McD's or CC's... maintenance. It takes forever to remove all the balls from the pit and sterilize them. McD's playgrounds (even without the ball pits) STILL get piss and poop in them, and sometimes vomit (kids running around after they've eaten, ie, bad parenting). It could have been a nice thing even today, but parents insist on letting their kids run rampant without first having them use rest rooms, then play, then eat after they've expended their energy. Interesting tidbit, other countries still have ball pits. Thailand has good sized ones, although I can imagine they require the labor, there's a ton of people over there trying to find ANY venue to make money off of.
