Ford Edge radiator cooling fan is not working: Diagnosis
The radiator cooling fan in my Ford Edge 2008 is not working and the car gets overheated. In this video, I check the possible reasons of a bad cooling fan. I check the fan fuses, the fan motor, the fan rely, the rely connectors and the possibility of wiring problems. If those components are ok, then we might have a bad temperature sensor. I used in this check up a PWM device to generate an electronic signal instead of the signal generated by the temperature sensor. I got this PWM for $10 from AMAZON. You can find it on AMAZON and Ebay. The diagnosis shows that the problem is a bad rely connector which needs to be replaced.

Replacing 2008 Ford Edge 3 piece drive shaft with 2 piece drive shaft
มุมมอง 2.9Kปีที่แล้ว
This video is a comprehensive guide that will show you, step by step, how to replace the factory 3-piece driveshaft of your 2008 Ford Edge with a brand new 2-piece driveshaft. The process can be tricky, but with the help of this video, you will be able to tackle it with confidence.
So I tested both on the relay and before the connector like in the video, and the fans turned on both times. I'm not sure what to think of that because when I jump it like you did in the video, it doesn't work.
Check the coolant temperature sensor.
@@Watchandfix Ok. I will. Thank you!
Very good and explicit video, easy to understand and mainly so useful... Thanks so much..
You are very welcome!
Really fully informative vid! Thanks for your efforts🎉
I am Glad you liked it!
like your diagnostic video, very well done with expertise and understanding! thank you!!
Thank you.
Hi, thanks for this video, it's a good job and it's useful work. My question is how much better is a two-piece shaft than a three-piece, which one will give less vibration in your opinion? Thank you
I have a 2010 ford edge that keeps overheating due to drivers side cooling fan isn't coming on
Check the fan connector.
Thank you!!!!!
Do you know how to test it if I have the tow package so there are two connectors to the fan relay?
AMAZING GUY
Why I had that piece of carpet. Oh well. You didn't know.
FANTASTIC video! Thank you. Very clear and concise. Your efforts are greatly appreciated.
Glad it was helpful!
Can I replace my 2010 awd sport 2 piece shaft that has the u joint on the front with one that has the u joint on the rear. When i look up the part number or any shaft for a 2010 awd sport only rear ones come up but the one that came off my car had the u joint infront of the center support
Exactly what I needed to know!! Thanks!!
You are welcome.
Pls help I’ve replaced the whole fan assembly with new relay I’ve also replaced the ECT sensor and the fans are still not turning on I’m getting 12volts from pin#1 and .5volts from the white wire, new fan assembly was from Napa Please help 2010 Ford edge limited
It could be a bad connector. Try to put some dielectric grease in the connector to enhance its connectivity. You may also use the pwm to test the relay and the connectors. Peel the white wire and connect it to the pwm. If the fan works, then there is no signal coming from the ECU to the fan rely. This could be due to bad wiring. If you connect the pwm signal to the peeled white wire and the fan didn't work, then it could be bad rely connectors.
If one of the fans is not working, thats influences on AC working anormally? sometimes warm?
It could affect the AC so you might not get highly cold air. But, you still get some cold air. There could be other reasons for getting warm air from the AC. You might need to charge the AC, check the condenser or the compressor.
Did you end up fixing it? Currently dealing with my truck wanting to over heat when I'm in idling, then goes back to normal when driving. I've noticed that one of my fans is only working as well and ac stops blowing cold when in idle as well.
Yes, I replaced the fan connector and it is working fine so far. In your case, I believe your cooling fan is not working that is why you feel the problem in idle while the air stream helps while driving.
can I drive the car without the drive shaft until I order a new shaft?
Yes, if it is an AWD car, you can drive it without the drive shaft. But, you should take off the awd fuse.
I checked the fuses, the fan rely and the fan motor and I could not find the problem, what else should I check?
Two more things are left to check. First, check the wire transferring the signal from the ecu to the fan rely for any possible damage or miss connection. Second, check the coolant temperature sensor. It might needs to be replaced.
Could I go the other way a 3 piece shaft to a two piece replacement?
You cannot install a three-piece shaft on Ford Edge models with a two-piece shaft because they only have one center support. Thus, the three piece shaft will dangle if you install it.
@@Watchandfix i already bought it😒
