Sometimes I think back and it's so crazy that one decision can change the course of your life. When I went on that trip to India in 2017, I never could have dreamed that it would lead me to quitting my job and starting my business. I loved this video so much, especially because I live in Helena! I found your channel when a hiking friend gifted me 2 of your hat patterns a month ago. I love your patterns, what your business stands for and your energy!
Thank you for being here! What an awesome friend for gifting you the patterns! I'm so glad you're enjoying knitting them☺️ I loved my visit to Helena💛
💜💙
☺️💛
Gorgeous scenery, thanks so much for bringing us along! ☺
Thanks for being here Melissa! It was so nice to get that first snow for the lake views!
If you are ever in S. Cali, I will buy you tea.
Aww that is so kind! Thank you!
Hey Chereen hope all is well. Just a quick question do you "block" your hats at all? I know some knitters do but I was wondering do we have to? And what the benefits might be. I have to be honest I've never done it with any of my hats. So im just curious should I be blocking? Thank you love love your work!!! ❤❤ always waiting on a new vlog 🥰😍🤩
Hi hi! Thank you for being here!! I know some people do, but I haven’t ever found it necessary to block my hats. Even with colorwork, I’ll basically stretch the hat a bit and smooth the stitches and it works beautifully!
@smeenymadewild wonderful ok 👍🏻. That's what I do. I pretty much give it a little stretch in like a circle from the inside just a bit and then off to the next one. Wonderful with the feed back. Yeah I just wanted to get your opinion. Didn't know if I needed to start cause I notice other knitters did. Awesomeness 👌 👏 👍🏻 😍 💖 thanks again
Snow Canyon is amazing!!! Looks like I need to camp there next time!
Yes!! It was a gorgeous place to camp! And a really well kept campground either great access to some nice hikes!
I love watching your vlogs :) Thank you for sharing your journey and your vision. You, as I’ve said before, inspire me! Can I ask where you order your tags from?
I just saw you answered my questions in an earlier comment!
Thank you for bringing here! I get the cork tags from All This Wood and design my hang tags on vistaprint!
I’m still processing everything too… This vlog really hits home. I still have a full time job but enjoy doing creative endeavors on the side. I have been in a season of the pause and wanting to pivot for a couple of years now. I have felt burn out with crocheting and macrame (still want to learn how to knit though 😉) and have felt a strong urge to pivot to flower gardening and learning to sew. I’m really sorry for the losses you’ve experienced. Between both mine and my husband’s families, we’ve had a lot happen health wise over the last few years and it really opened our eyes to what truly matters. We’ve been traveling a little more and prioritizing experiences over things. I just want to let you know that I have really enjoyed the vlogs and following you on IG. Thanks for sharing your adventures, biz tips and honest feelings🧡.
Melanie! Thank you so much for being here! Yes…grief, loss, health issues all certainly make us zoom out and rethink our priorities! Of course I wish those things hadn’t happened but at the same time I’m grateful that they’ve led me here💛 I hope it’s leading you in a more aligned direction too! Especially if you’re feeling some burnout, it would be so fun to explore some new creative things! I’m glad you’re enjoying the vlogs☺️ I’m grateful to have you in this community!
still processing.... and probably will be for a long while.
😮💨agreed…here with you
💜💙
I lost 3 people around the same time too. Two were good friends and one was my BFF, Cindy. I also developed a physical disability around the same time. I'm still on my way back, but I think you're special. I've always been a free spirit, just seem to rub people the wrong way. I'm sorry for your losses. Isn't it great to be able to share your life with an animal?? My cat, Pumpkin, is turning 14 in February, and he's such my guy. Sorry for being all over the place, I want you to know you're inspirational! Thanks 😊!!
@@michellebarnett4994 why can't Mylo is 20 1/2. He's my emotional support animal.
I’m sorry for your losses too💛💛 The grief journey is so hard!! I also went through a medical scare during that period and it really forced me to reevaluate a lot of things. Sending lots of love your way✨✨✨
I miss snow. Also election day was madness.
The snow has felt weirdly comforting and peaceful with all of this going on…still processing all of the feelings😔
@smeenymadewild I live in Southern California where there's never any snow, at least where I'm at
💜💙
Loved this so much! We said Yes a year ago. We packed up and moved from Perth Australia to a little coastal village in Ireland near the Atlantic coast and it was the best thing we’ve ever done. ( my hubby is Irish) I’ve now been able to build my little Crochet side hustle ( ‘Ocean Weave’) and also work part time in a cute Health food store. I’ve never in my life enjoyed my way of earning money and it’s true to just take a leap.. trust and believe…
Ooo I love this so much!! It’s amazing when we bet on ourselves!
💜💙

I’m binge watching all of your vids. You are so inspiring!
Omg thank you for watching! I’m so glad the videos are resonating🥰🫶
Hi! Knitter here - Love your videos - I've been binge watching. LOL What's the red poke-y thing you've been using to finish your knits? Is that to help weave the ends? You're using it at the 6:41min mark in this video. You are amazing and I hope your winter selling season is fantastic! 💚🌲
Thank you!! And back atcha! The pokey thing is called a felting needle! It helps fuse the ends in☺️
💜💙
💜💙
Love your sweater, you did amazing job on it! I like my sleeves a little longer, better then it riding up your arm
Thank you Amy! I lovce how it turned out! And agreed! Glad they're longer instead of too short! Hahahaha

Love it!!!
Yay! These are so fun to make!
Oh I’m so happy I found you!!! You are speaking my language and you hit the nail on the head about the Summer period. Ps.. I love your chunky pure wool.. is it Malabrigio Rasta? I live in Ireland now ( I’m an Aussie) so I use pure wool from Donegal for my accessories. Love love love your content and all that you are doing. Maybe one day I’ll connect on a retreat.
Yay! Thank you for being here! Yes! This is Malabrigo Rasta! Ooooo I love Donegal yarns! I was just in Scotland this summer and bought a few skeins! I hope we can connect on a retreat one day too!
💜💙
I havent considered trying to sell at a local shop but ive thought of one day opening a shop like this for alternative artists! Im glad i found you!! Instant subscribe ❤
Thank you for being here! That would be so cool to open a shop like this! Sending good vibes on your journey!
Woohoo!!! Chereen look at those views!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 this is just the beginning!!! Can’t wait to see this channel and your business grow💖🧶
Bahhh! Thank you so much Miriam! I’m so excited!
I am so thankful I found your channel! I absolutely love the wholesomeness in your video! I appreciate all information that you have shared with all of us! I wish everyone the best of luck, and sending you good vibes and success on your own business journey! ☺️🧶
Thank you for being here! Here with you on the journey!
I totally understand about good consistent branding. The shop I sell my things in doesn't like me putting my business card or logo on anything as she doesn't want people to know who I am 😂 she wants customers to only buy from her store!
Hmmm that is so interesting that she wants you to do that! Are you having a good experience selling there? Are there other stores that more outwardly promote and support makers and artists?
@smeenymadewild no other stores sell people's products so I'm very lucky!
Love your podcasts. Have questions were you purchased your pom poms for the hats, there are amazing ❤
Thank you for watching! I buy them from a maker friend Sugar Maple Fibers! She makes them by hand and they're great!
I have been inspired to start making the Japanese Knot bag to sell. I love mixing colors and want to make seasonal bags an monthly bags. I thought I would make a dozen or so bags as samples. I did consign at a local shop but was not too successful. I think that arrangement was not for me because I was making what the owner suggested, not necessarily what I wanted to sell.
Ooo that bag sounds so cute! But yes, finding a shop that matches your vibe etc is SO important to being able to make sales at the shop. I've been dabbling in exploring more markets as well which be another great way to connect with people and share your brand values etc.
I am seriously so happy that I found you. I have felt so alone in my creative small business journey and you have really helped me feel much less so.
Ahhh! I'm so glad this resonated with you! Being a small business owner is no joke, but you're definitely not alone!
Just found you! This information is so helpful and encouraging for crafters. Thank you for sharing with us. I checked out your website, too. Very impressive! Love, Love, Love your designs and color palette.💞💖
Oh! Thank you so so much! I'm so glad you found this encouraging! We're all on this journey and working to build our dream businesses right!
So glad TH-cam put you in my feed! 😊
Oh yay!!! Thank you for being here!
How do you work out your wholesale pricing ?
Hi!! I use the same basic calculation to cover all of the material costs, labor, and $3-5 for over head then make sure to mark it up enough to where I feel comfortable and where if the shop wants to double that price it still feels comfortable if that makes sense? So I create a linesheet with what I need to make on wholesale and present that to the shop.
I love this video - I had no idea what consignment and wholesale meant 😂 where do you get the cardboard tags made that you attach to your beanies? ❤
Yay! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I designed them on Vistaprint!
Great video love!! I am working on 2 orders for beanies… 100 per order!! 😱 I am waiting on materials then have to crank out 200!!
Ooo that's so awesome!! Congrats on those big orders!!
@ thank you!!
Love your videos! Thanks for sharing with all of us - the ups and the downs. We love what you do and the inspiration you give to us. ;)
🥹aww thank you so much for being here! It's not the easiest path, but it's so fun and we're in it together!
New stubby. I enjoyed this video, the vibes and inspiration to not give up. 😊
Thank you for being here!! I'm so glad this resonated with you! It can feel like we're the only people who get it sometimes on this journey, but you are definitely not alone!
Amazon has us all spoiled 😂
Don't they?? It's terrible!
Thank you for this video. I think the economy has changed since 2020. Many small businesses thrived A LOT during that time. Now it's more difficult. Craft/vendor fairs are my go to for right now.
Totally agree! And there really is so much more noise now! People are seeking connection and I've definitely seen my sales from local shops and markets do better these days!
Great video. I’m also a small buzzness owner, harvesting honey from our bees and creating many products with beeswax. I have to ask, where did you get your shirt from. Super cute.
Thank you! And wow! Your biz sounds so cool! What types of products do you make with the beeswax? The fleece hoodie is from Youer! Her stuff is amazing and it's also a woman-led business...she also focuses a lot on supply chain transparency!
@@smeenymadewild anything made with beeswax basically. lol. I make beeswax wraps, candles, luminaries and sachets using dehydrated fruit and pressed florals. Lip balms, bug repellent, itch sticks and my proudest product is ECZ-Balm. I have helped so many people keep evasive skin conditions at bay. Not a cure of course but a natural solution of making it disappear as long as it’s applied daily. Enjoy your videos and keep up the great work. Love your beanies. They look super comfy and soft.
I'm sooo happy the algorithm showed me your video. I also am a small business owner and completely gave up on social media. I just work on orders as they come in via etsy and focus on craft fair, but I'm trying to reconstruct my business too.
Yay!! And yes yes! I've seen so many other small biz friends give up or get SO discouraged, but I really do think the social media game has changed! Glad you're focusing on Etsy and craft fairs. Pivoting is hard, but so worth it when it feels aligned!
I love Lorrae!! I used to live in that area and she taught me to knit using your Winterfell pattern. Hearing her voice made my heart happy!!
OMG no way!!!! That is so awesome! She's wonderful! I can't believe it was the Winterfell pattern too! Wow!
@@smeenymadewild I moved and I still call her to buy yarn from her. Her yarn is just magical and truly my favorite.
Love this so much!
I'm so glad this resonated!
