This is a little something I threw together last year and finally got around to finishing up just recently. It's dumb, maybe funny, maybe not. Frankly, I don't know. It really started as a demo of a technique I wanted to try in iClone, which succeeded, but never really had much use for (I know, a time waster!) but there you go. That's me in a nutshell.

A film by BiggsTrek. This is a Western/Horror/Romance movie, done in a "silent era" fashion (no dialogue, but title-cards instead... and sound effects. Weird, I know. But try it...) Merry Ho-Ho LOL
when will chapter 2 be here?
I can't give you a date, sorry, but I AM working on it!
I felt shortchanged by the very brief ending in the original movie.
I understand!
Very entertaining. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Holy cow, they were right over at Completely Machinima. This is GREAT!!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you!!
This is a very nice tribute to a GREAT film. As Robbie would say, "Morbius, a gentleman named Biggs Trek has created a most excellent tribute to you and this Forbidden Planet of yours...do you wish to view it on the Krellevision?" Well done, Mr Browne!
lol, thank you Robby!
- Altaira's skirt needs to be shorter.
lol!
As a big fan of the movie (who was crushed when the remake didn’t happen), I found this very enjoyable. Actually… let’s call it awesome.
Thanks! It was fun to make. Chapter Two in the works.
@@biggstrek LOOKING FORWARD TO IT *VERY* MUCH!!
It would be possible to AI all the original actors to reprise a more theatrical version for FP-2.
Technically, yes, but not on my budget. :)
Bravo, Mr. Philip Browne (BiggsTrek)-- Very well done. The story is faithful the original movie, even as some of the likenesses of the main characters are different. The animation is of a warm and comfortable style, while maintaining the details of the original concept. The story is interesting and exciting. I highly look forward to the next chapter.
Thank you very much!
@@biggstrek Thank you, sir for your kind reply. I amended my original comment to say "some" of the characters. I really like all your renditions, Robby, Altaira and Cmdr Adams look Cool! Continued success to you in all your endeavors! The Future is in our hands!
I'm not 100% happy with the characters, and have adjusted a couple of them for Chapter Two. Just minor things, like the eyes. Robby remains the same as he came out pretty good the first time. Thanks again!
@@biggstrek It will be great in any variations you choose. Thank you for your kindness, insights, correspondence and your art! You are awesome!

Welcome aboard!
Excellent job, thanks.
Thank you too!
Forbidden Planet was my favorite movie when I was a kid. That ID monster scared me. That the Krell had interplanetary space travel was documented in the movie so it would be an almost forgone conclusion that they would have left behind colony planets. Great start to a story. I hope to see more!
My logic exactly! Stay tuned for Chapter Two!
*** Forbidden Planet: Reimagined and Expanded *** The Krell Live! Unknown to Morbius, the Krell still exist, they are without form, without instrumentality, living within a realm created by the enormous 8000 cubic mile Krell machine for 25,000 centuries. Imagine a rebirth of *Forbidden Planet*, a story steeped in 1950s wonder and brought to life through modern filmmaking, with stunning visuals and deep existential themes. This reimagining delves into the mysteries of the Krell-a race that vanished 25,000 centuries ago-and the fateful human encounter with their dangerous legacy. *Prologue: The Krell’s Ascendancy and Collapse* The story begins 25,000 centuries ago, we peer into the Krell's existence from a-far, see their magnificent society, the architecture, music, art, see them going about their business. We glimpse the wisdom they have and how they teach their children and more. We witness a species of incredible intellectual and technological might. Their civilization spanned thousands of millennia, culminating in the construction of a massive 8,000-cubic-mile machine beneath the surface of Altair IV. This machine was designed to usher them into a new realm-a place where they could transcend physical form, without instrumentality and live purely as thought. But when they activated the machine, the Krell were struck by a catastrophe they had not foreseen: the monsters from their own subconscious, the “Id,” were unleashed. Their darkest desires and fears took form, and the Krell, despite all their advancements, could not defend themselves. Many were violently torn apart, while a small group-their infants and youth-managed to cross into the non-physical realm, but were trapped there, unable to control it, no knowledge of how to operate it and were stuck inside, never to leave, forever. For thousands of centuries, the remnants of the Krell have been stranded in this timeless prison, their vast technology still running, waiting to be rediscovered. *Part 1: The Bellerophon Expedition* *Thousands of centuries later**, the starship *Bellerophon is sent to Altair IV, tasked with exploring this distant planet. Among the crew is Dr. Edward Morbius, a brilliant but unassuming philologist whose initial role is merely to document any linguistic traces they might find. He knows nothing of the Krell or the secrets hidden beneath the planet’s surface. The mission starts as a routine survey. The crew begins excavating ruins and uncovering mysterious structures, but soon they realize they have stumbled upon something extraordinary-remnants of an ancient civilization far more advanced than anything humanity has ever known. At first, Morbius is cautious, intrigued but unsure of the significance. As more evidence emerges, however, Morbius finds himself irresistibly drawn to the Krell's technology, which appears to have been light years ahead of humanity in both scale and ambition. With every discovery, his fascination deepens. Massive machines, complex networks, and vast energy sources buried deep within the planet hint at the Krell’s ability to manipulate reality itself. Morbius becomes consumed by the enigma of the Krell, devoting himself to studying their machines and learning their language, driven by an overwhelming desire to understand what led to their downfall. But as Morbius’s obsession grows, he begins to unknowingly tap into the Krell’s technology-awakening forces beyond his control. *Part 2: The Fall of the Bellerophon* As Morbius and the crew dig deeper into the Krell ruins, they unwittingly trigger the ancient machine, setting off a chain of events that mirrors the Krell's own fate. Unbeknownst to the crew, the machine is designed to project the subconscious into reality, transforming thoughts and emotions into physical manifestations. It is this very power that destroyed the Krell, and now, without realizing it, Morbius has tapped into the same forces. Tensions rise aboard the Bellerophon as Morbius begins to resist the crew's desire to leave the planet and return to Earth. The wonders of the Krell technology have captured his imagination completely, and he refuses to abandon the discoveries. His subconscious mind, fueled by frustration and hidden fears, begins to create monsters-beings made of raw, destructive power, invisible and unstoppable. These creatures, born from Morbius's unacknowledged desires, begin hunting down the crew, slaughtering them in grotesque, unimaginable ways. The few who manage to escape to the Bellerophon are vaporized by energy blasts conjured from Morbius’s unconscious rage. In the aftermath of the destruction, the creatures vanish, their work done, leaving Morbius alive and alone on the planet. Stricken with guilt but unable to comprehend the full extent of his responsibility, he retreats into isolation, dedicating himself to studying the Krell in solitude. He builds a home, constructs an advanced AI robot named Robby using Krell technology, and raises his daughter, Altaira, alone after his wife dies in childbirth. *Part 3: The Arrival of the C57D* Twenty years later, the starship C57D arrives at Altair IV to investigate the disappearance of the Bellerophon and its crew. The ship’s captain, J.J. Adams, contacts Dr. Morbius, who now lives a secluded life, his vast knowledge of the Krell making him a recluse. Morbius is reluctant to allow the new crew to explore the planet, fearing that they will suffer the same fate as his former companions. He believes the Krell’s knowledge is far too dangerous for humanity to possess, knowing it could destroy them just as it destroyed the Krell. Despite his warnings, Adams and his crew begin their investigation, uncovering more and more of the Krell's lost technology. What none of them realize is that the Krell are still alive-but not in any physical sense. The remnants of their consciousnesses remain trapped in the non-physical realm created by the machine, and they have been observing everything. The machine is still active, sustaining their existence and maintaining the barrier between the physical and non-physical realms. As Morbius's growing paranoia and subconscious fears resurface, the machine once again begins to project his inner demons into the real world. The monsters from his Id return, more powerful than ever, threatening to destroy the C57D crew just as they did the *Bellerophon*. *Part 4: The Final Revelation* In a desperate bid to save Altaira and the remaining crew, Morbius comes to a tragic realization-he has been the key to all the destruction. The Krell machine was never meant to fall into human hands, and his inability to control his subconscious has led to the deaths of two crews. He understands now that the Krell were not destroyed by outside forces but by their own inability to manage the vast powers they created. In a final act of redemption, Morbius sacrifices himself. He activates the machine’s self-destruct sequence, initiating the destruction of Altair IV. In his dying moments, he warns Adams that they have 24 hours to evacuate the planet before it tears itself apart. The crew of the *C57D*, along with Altaira, narrowly escape, leaving Altair IV behind as the planet disintegrates into nothingness. The Krell, their legacy, and their forbidden knowledge are lost forever. Destroying the Krell that live withing the machine. It is Mankind that ultimately and unwittingly kill those without instrumentally, the children of the Krell trapped within the machine! *Epilogue: A Universe Forever Changed* In this new vision of *Forbidden Planet*, humanity is confronted not only with the dangers of technology but with the perils of their own inner selves. Morbius’s journey reflects the dangers of unchecked knowledge and the dark potential lurking within the subconscious mind. The Krell’s downfall becomes a cautionary tale for humanity-a warning that some knowledge, no matter how advanced, may carry the seeds of its own destruction. As the C57D sails away from the ruins of Altair IV, the crew-and the audience-are left with a haunting realization: humanity, too, could one day fall victim to the monsters of their own making. This reimagined Forbidden Planet blends the classic story with deeper philosophical themes, exploring the intersection of technology, consciousness, and the fragile balance between knowledge and self-control. A tale for the modern age, it reminds us that even as we reach for the stars, the greatest threat may lie within our own minds. -- Max McByte (2024)

Wow! This was a real surprise. Very ambitious and imaginative. I do hope you continue with chapter 2. Nice homage to "This Island Earth" in that entry and splashing/landing sequence at the end!
You're sharp! I kind of saw the homage, but I was impressed with the graphics. For a second, I thought the rest of the story would take place under water. Not so far-fetched as the ocean is like deep space. Totally hostile to human life. Of course plot-wise, it really would not make sense.
Strange as it may seem, it was an accidental homage. Maybe it was lurking in by subconscious (beware the ID!)
Interesting idea! :)
@@biggstrek Of course! You are a creative artist, you don't "remember" You "Absorb".
@@biggstrek One other thing, your population crisis is very insightful. Even in the original FP, the narrator expains the set-up, but not the "why" beyond relieving the origianl pioneers. I don't know if you are aware of this, but there is a BBC radio drama performing FP. The voices are different, But, it uses the Barron soundtrack., and it is line by line exactly the same as the movie. It's on TH-cam, or at least it was several years ago. P.S. I like your suttle humor in the dialoge.
Absolutely awesome! You super fans didn't wait for Hollywood, you made your own episodic sequel! Will there be any more episodes? I am hooked! I always fantisized a sequel myself, with the "ID" monter of Dr. Morbius arriving on earth and causing mayhem.
I'm working on Chapter Two as we speak! Glad you enjoyed the first one! :)
@@biggstrek You no doubt took inspiration from Bebe and Louis Barron. "Tonal effects" Where you going to use them, ot were there copyright issues.? (IThe one you created is great also)
I'm sure there would have been copyright issues had I used them (I have the "soundtrack" so it was tempting!) I opted to try doing it myself using Theremin-like apps on my tablet. The results were "ok" but I think I could have done better. Maybe in Chapter Two I'll find a better way.
@@biggstrek Not at all! I thought your soundtgrack was quite faithful to the Barron's tonalities (WAY, way, ahead of their time!)

Please fix the subtitles.
I have spent some time fixing up the subtitles (originally generated by TH-cam). Thanks for letting me know about that. Hope this improves your experience of my little film! Enjoy!
Excellent work, including the music. It was reminiscent of the original without copying. The slight recharacterizations are equivalent to what might happen in a remake with actors. I hope you're planning to keep going with the story. PS Check me on this, but as I recall, C-57D's central column was its force field for propulsion and landing, not a solid metal cylinder as yours looks to be. Your use of it to recover from the sand slide would still work as you portray it. PPS Effective introduction of the antagonist, and of "diversity" without being sappy.
Yes, I'm continuing the story as we speak. As to the column of the ship, I figured if it moves up and down, why not let it help "recover" from an unusual landing?! And it was a fun concept to try and animate! Thanks for your comments!
Bravo! I loved forbidden planet and I’m thrilled to see you’re doing such a faithful of the story. I can’t wait to see more!
Thank you for watching!
I enjoyed this. Thank you for taking the time and effort to make a faithful continuation of Forbidden Planet (from the days when they actually made good sci-fi movies).

Thanks, and clearly I need to go re-watch This Island Earth to see what I accidentally channelled from that film! (EDIT: Just watched the end scene of 'T.I.E.' and I see the resemblance. Oops! Wasn't intentional!)
@@biggstrek If you've already seen This Island Earth, then maybe watch MST3K the Movie. They used T.I.E for the movie edition and it is priceless. I watch it with my kids every year around the holidays - unbreakable tradition. They're all out of college now but still come home for MST3K & excellent SciFI like Forbidden Planet. MGM knocked it out of the park with that movie. Well done with Children of the Krell! I can't wait for chapter 2.
I'll keep an eye out for it (actually, I think I may have seen it once, years ago. I seem to remember having a good laugh at it, actually!)
@@biggstrek No Oops to it. You, like the great minds at Universal, think alike. It was a compliment, Damit!
This was damned entertaining and a worthy sequel to the original Forbidden Planet. Hats off to the creators! Looking forward with great interest to Chapter 2.
Thanks! (There's just me working on this, but at times I wish I had a team! lol)
Very well done! The nice nods to "This Island Earth" and the C57-D crossing the sky reminded me of both "It Came from Outer Space" and "Prometheus." I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this! J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5) was involved in an attempted sequel in the 1990s, but it died in development.
Thank you! I have a lot of respect for JMS. If anyone was going to reboot FP (at a Hollywood level) I'd be very happy it was him at the helm. Pity it hasn't made it (yet...)
@@biggstrek It's my understanding he got as far as a story proposal. I don't know if he produced a script. If he did, I'd love to read it! I know he's a fan of the original, as he has said on many occasions (and shown in the episode "A Voice in the Wilderness" during season 1 of Babylon 5).
Here is an online theremin that works great that you might be able to use for sound effects for your videos.. You can change all the settings to get the exact sound you want. To get it to work, there is a problem with it sometimes, click the circle at the top, and it will say "page 404" or something like that. Go back to the theremin page, it will work fine
Thanks, but if you posted a link, I'm not seeing it in the comment. Want to try again? I'm certainly interested!
That was FUN!
Thx!
Great stuff! I just watched FP for the first time last night. Your characters have more emotionality than the originals
Glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic animated sequel with a plausible plot & evidently a labour of love to my favourite 50s SF film...I'm also hoping we finally get to see the mysterious Krell after the cliffhanger crash landing in part two of your masterpiece..?
Anything's possible! (But no spoilers... lol) Thanks!
Sigh...that was really disappointing. The animation was terrible. For a groundbreaking science fiction classic like Forbidden Planet a much higher type of cartoon, 32 frames a second isn't going to cut it. 128 frames might give the characters that natural motion feel. But this doesn't get it. The idea is a great one. But it needs to be rethought and redone. Forget the low brow humor and focus on much better animation, steer clear of the AI generated crap. And write a plot that adults will get without overt and gratuitous sexual inuendo. Sigh, this could have been great. Better luck next time. I'm out of here.
Thanks for taking the time to let me know your opinion. :)
Yes, it's a shame BiggsTrek didn't get your advice first on how to make this "great," instead of only good. I must have missed the sexual innuendo because I'm so used to the explicit sexual overtures in todays movies. If you mean how Altaira is dressed or the way Cookie checks her out, could it be because that's how she dressed in the original movie with the guys checking her out? So maybe this continuation is being true to the movie it's based on?
And you thought the sequel to Avatar took forever! Ha! Thanks for sharing!
No problem. ciao
Thought Star Trek pilot episode “The Cage” would work as a sequel too “Forbidden Planet”.
Maybe!
