He did NOT contact Adrian personally - as Tecwen Whittock was moved to - but just gave the (charming!) calculations of a Physics teacher to justify his spending a proportion of his salary. Had he done like Tecwen he would have looked Mr Pollock up on the Electoral Roll and driven to his home. THEREBY he would have gleaned all of the inside info re calling at the start of a series... or even sometimes in the small hours - as Adrian had done to get his arse into the studio FOUR times. Instead... he just reasoned it out like a Physics teacher!! (Some people, given the date, might even have read it as a Christmas Gift!!)

I can tell you, if you had gone along with yougut you'd said the word guess 4 : Leicestershire ! He would have just lost £468 000 ! The correct answer is 2 : Durham ! £500 000 ! Fantastic !

If either 50:50 removed May instead of one of the other two, it would've been more obvious and he could save the Phone a Friend for the next question. His dad didn't seem much of a help. And if he used Diana as his Phone a Friend for the 125k question, she more likely would've won him 125k and be able to cover all his debts instead of relying on Diana and Charles to bail them out and dig themselves further down the hole.

Pat is very entertaining to watch, he made this show look easy and he comes across as extremely modest, looking up his Wikipedia, his quizzing achievements are unbelievable, he is likely the joint 1st best quizzer in history along side Kevin Ashman

That had to be the most easiest £1m question I have ever seen on the show. I don't even watch horse racing and I knew it was either A or D. When A was left then that had to be it.
