I bought this record when it first came out - namely half a century ago. Which is an indication of my current "stage" of life - I'm 2 years younger than Willie, and we share a first name. I''m 10 years older than Dolly - which is all we have in common. Still, I feel we are all soul-siblings. It was the 2nd album Willie released, after he moved to Atlantic records. The first, "Shotgun Willie' was also a "concept" album, as was the next "Red Headed Stranger." It's ironic that "Blues Eyes Crying in the Rain' - the album's biggest hit, which is now considered a "Willie Nelson song" is, in fact, a Fred Rose standard that was written so long ago, that none of Willie's (relatively young) fans, including yours truly, had ever heard it.
