The other speaker when the mics where on sounded a tiny bit robotic but I'll chalk that up as him just being quiet and the software had to do a lot of heavy lifting to isolate his speech over the background. But honestly for such small audio devices they did wonders at making your pax east video sound super crisp. I was honestly wondering if it was just not a lot of talking going on in the background when you where recording haha.

StreamYard is a good (free) alternative to riverside, that's what I use :-)

This is great. Yes, I agree Podcasting has never been easier, and this video is a great demonstration as to WHY? This is the case in 2024.

The problem with text based editing is the lack of control of over lapping audio.

Hey Bill ... This was very cool and interesting. I am just a Podcast Consumer and general IT Guy, never had any ambition to produce something like this, but your Video gave me a lot of Ideas just for everyday Video-Conference use. Please keep up with these more technically orientated Stuff, you have a great talent when explaining complex setups that only comes with experience and years (no insult, I also rock a grey beard 😊)

None of you guys mentioned lights. That's weird cause on top of a decent mic, cheaper camera bodies and lenses can be a useful first investment providing you have good lighting. Photography is after all capturing light...

As a guy in my mid 30's who wanted to get involved in content creation and in particular podcasting I've had a lot of self doubt about if it's the 'young mans game' or if I have the skills to be able to make, produce and edit content but things like this, and the other videos on your channel. As a total newbie to podcasting, what is the difference between a video podcast and "just" a TH-cam video ?

I have seen so many people talk about equipment, mic and mixer and all the other stuff.. that’s great. But is there any video that actually talks about how to record (audio) the damn thing? Once it’s all set up.. what software? And if you do video… how does that change the mic

Bill, thanks for the video. Although I have heard most of these tips in various forms, it is still nice to hear them reiterated. Question: Why did you choose your current mic over the SM7B, RE320, or RE20? It sounds amazing; just curious as a fellow creator who is shopping around.

These are all fantastic tips! I even learned stuff and I've been doing this for years. One thing I always tell people who are curious about podcasting is to go sit somewhere and talk into their phone for 30 minutes. If they have a good time, chances are they'll dig podcasting. Wonderful work as always!

A lot of sound advice, I wholeheartedly agree with the watching cause of the host(s) thing. It also just helps when you can tell the host and guest are having fun. I've tried listening to a lot of podcasts and some just run into a kind of dull monotone "yeah this is my job and I am following a template" thing which is a real bummer vibe to have.
