Here’s how to repair the disk using CMD: Steps to Repair the Disk (Recreate Partition Table and Format) 1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator Press Win + X and choose Command Prompt (Admin) or Windows Terminal (Admin). You must run CMD with administrator privileges. 2. Open DiskPart In CMD, type: bash Copy code diskpart This opens the DiskPart utility, which allows you to manage disks and partitions. 3. List Disks To see all the connected disks, type: bash Copy code list disk Identify your external hard drive in the list. It will be listed as Disk X (e.g., Disk 1, Disk 2). 4. Select the Disk Select the disk corresponding to your external drive: bash Copy code select disk X Replace X with the number of your external disk (e.g., select disk 1). 5. Clean the Disk (Clear Partition Information) If you’re certain you don’t need the data on the drive, or you have backed up the important files, you can clean the disk to remove corrupted partition information: bash Copy code clean This command will remove all partition and volume information from the selected disk. 6. Create a New Primary Partition After cleaning the disk, create a new primary partition: bash Copy code create partition primary 7. Format the Partition Once the partition is created, format it with the NTFS file system: bash Copy code format fs=ntfs quick The quick option speeds up the process. 8. Assign a Drive Letter After formatting, assign a letter to the new partition: bash Copy code assign letter=X Replace X with the letter you want to assign to the drive (e.g., assign letter=E). 9. Exit DiskPart After the partition is created and the drive letter is assigned, exit DiskPart by typing: bash Copy code exit Now your external drive should appear in File Explorer with the newly assigned drive letter.
