Running my house off of the EcoFlow Delta 2
With all of these hurricanes, threatening our Florida coast, I decided to do a test with my EcoFlow Delta 2 power station. While I use a large gasoline generator as a back up for my entire home during a prolonged outage, I don’t always need that much power so I was curious to see, how long the Delta 2 could power some of the essentials in my home without moving appliances and running a bunch of extension cords within the house. The EcoFlow is plugged into my generator inlet with an adapter that splits the hot leg onto both sides of the panel, which gives me 120 V on each side in the same phase. I have to turn off all of my large 240 V breakers before plugging in and powering it up. This will allow me to have all of my lights l, sockets and 120 V appliances powered via my electrical panel. I could reduce the load by turning off some of the unnecessary items, but this was just to see what the general load would look like. I have a full-size refrigerator, a deep freezer, under counter wine cooler, and an under counter beverage refrigerator, along with network equipment, a network video recorder, my modem and router as well as a few security cameras.
The good thing is, I could expand the battery storage on this and run the essential loads overnight without producing noise.

We had a lot of thunderstorms all across Florida recently, and I woke up this morning to make breakfast, and we had just lost power. We do not have gas at the house, unfortunately, so we rely on electricity for pretty much everything in the kitchen. I decided to put the EcoFlow Delta 2 to the test this morning by filming myself while I make Breakfast. I do have a portable gas generator that I...

Second test with Ecoflow Delta 2 with induction cooktop
มุมมอง 15K2 ปีที่แล้ว
I wanted to see just how versatile this solar generator really is. I happen to have a portable induction burner that works off of 120 V and I decided to test it in my kitchen by boiling some water from room temperature. As you can see in this video, I got the water boiling within about five minutes and I probably used 15% of the battery.
First test with Ecoflow Delta 2 on boat

I purchased a Delta 2 as a back up power solution for camping, boating, and for the occasional power outages at home. I wanted to test its capability, and I was pleasantly surprised with what I saw from the initial testing. I plan to make another video in the field where I will test the Delta 2 while I am on board my boat in the near future.

Inverter generator hack 120v powering entire house electric panel

Inverter generator hack 120v powering entire house electric panel
just wondering is your current 50A transfer switch connected to the entire main panel? or is it only select circuits? when feeding 120v into a 240v panel, only half of those circuits will be powered right? Thanks!
Probably selected essentials to switch on the mail panel. You can get another panel with dedicated circuits already pre determined. You don’t need every circuit in the house running in an emergency situation. So just fridge, a few lights and fans would be enough. His higher wattage generator will run those circuits plus his preferred living area air conditioning.
Curious what happened here. I have a transfer switch. I would like to run an ecoflo into it at night to power just the furnace fan and a few lights. But it would be this same 120 to 240 setup. I didn't think it was possible.
@@athletikonaol it is possible to power your entire electrical panel with a small 120 V power source like a gas generator or a solar generator like the EcoFlow. You do have to keep in mind that the limitation is based off of whatever that power source can provide. If you just wanna run the refrigerator and a few lights that should be fine, but don’t expect it to run anythingsubstantial. You have to turn off all the 240 V breakers when you do this to avoid damaging appliances in the home and your power source.
This was helpful for my solar system
How much did you're setup cost?
I absolutely hate how the interlock switch is pushed onto people. If you aren't smart enough to know to turn your main breaker off, before you turn your generator on, then you shouldn't be doing this anyway. None of the videos out there actually show how to connect your generator to a sub panel to feed electricity into your house. It's right up there with a note on Tides Pods telling you NOT to swallow them. Some of us aren't actually idiots you know.
@@silenthill5794 wow. Happy Halloween to you! 😂 this wasn’t pushed on me, I decided to install this myself to make it safe, code compliant and easy to use. Could I have skipped the interlock, sure but for the low price of $200 I decided to add it. Have a great day!
that's not a generator transfer switch, that's an interlock, if your going to give advice,, know what your talking about, champion!
Valid correction. Thanks!
That should be great with a 15ft storm surge

The question of the day is "¿how much does something like this costs?
Cost me about $300 and I did it myself.
Hello Nick, I’m In west palm beach any idea what it would cost to do this type of install ?
@@dfigueroa788 I did this myself and it cost me about $350. I think because I had to change the cover of the electrical panel with the built-in interlock function. The cost will totally depend on what your electrical set up is like at your house and of course if you hire someone. You could expect to probably pay around $1000, maybe less
@@nicksreviewsmiamiYou mentioned installing it yourself. Is it safe to assume you’re a licensed electrician or is this a DIY project?
@@lizbethdiehl318 no I am not an electrician, but I have enough experience and knowledge to do this kind of work myself. If you don’t have this experience, you should absolutely hire.
Cool I see that you wired it to the breaker with the meter . I’m assuming it powers the breaker inside the house when the main is off , correct ?
@@datchulo1085 yes that exterior panel is where my main feed comes in and feeds my interior panel with 200 amp service.
@@nicksreviewsmiami thanks for replying I just did this to mine yesterday . I have a 150amp panel . The whole house is powered .
What cable or connector do you use to connect the solar panels to the charging port in the Delta 2 unit? Can you please share the specific brand and a link to the product? Somehow the internet is extremely unhelpful with this question. Thanks :-)
Thank you for showing "IT WORKS". I just got a Delta 2 but haven't tested it on our 1500 watt griddle. I know it's going to work just fine. THANK YOU ! ! !

Nice
Interlocks are a joke. You do not need them under any circumstance.
@@Cirav okay troll. Thanks for sharing
@@nicksreviewsmiami You are welcome.
Interlocks are required for any permanent inlet installation. You can install a permanent outlet installation without the interlock switch, but you would have to make a suicide cord for generator use. Without the interlock switch it would be illegal to put your home up for sale.
@@howardradford1985 That is incorrect, stop spreading misinformation and stop calling them suicide cords.
@Cirav How about widowmaker cords. It is illegal to sell a home with an inlet box to a power panel that already has a power source unless it has a mechanism that only allows one source to be on at a time. You can check with a realtor or a lawyer, both will require you to remove the inlet or install a transfer switch or interlock before the sell can go through.
Don't listen to that other negative dude, this video was awesome! This is exactly what I wanted to see.
@@MountainManGuy thank you!
I've been doing a lot of testing with my Delta 2 (1024 wh) and Delta 2 Max Smart Battery (2048 wh). With just the Delta 2, I'm able to wash one load of laundry on my GE Profile Ultrafast 2-in-1 washer/dryer. After the wash, there's 19% of battery power remaining. Connecting the Ecoflow 2 Max Smart Battery (2048 WH) to the Delta 2, I'm able to do three loads of laundry and have 21% battery capacity remaining. So far, the Delta 2 + Delta 2 Max Smart battery, can't power up a 3500w 120v tankless point-of-use water heater, the overload protection gets triggered and shuts down. However, it has no problem handling a 1500w 120v two gallon point-of-use water heater.
@@biketrailsandwaggingtails that’s good information to read. Yes unfortunately the Delta 2 is limited to 1800 running watts. It can deal with a surge of about 2400 W and maybe more for a very short amount of time but if you’re trying to run something that requires 3500 W continuous, you will probably need the Delta pro. Thanks for watching!
@@nicksreviewsmiami I also recently discovered that that Android mobile app (I'm currently running version 5.6.0.22) doesn't read the battery capacity correctly on the additional battery. For instance, the mobile app reads the capacity on my Delta 2 Max Smart Battery as a 1048 wh instead of 2048 wh. I've raised this issue to the Ecoflow Support Team as possible bug in the firmware or mobile app and advised them to replicate the issue in their lab environment. It took nearly 2 weeks of back and forth emails but they finally confirmed that it's an issue with the mobile app and that it doesn't affect the actual capacity of the additional battery.

I know this video is a couple of years old, but thank you for the cooking demo. Been considering grills in the $3500 - $4500 range and no joke, there are like zero user demo’s out there. Just a bunch of dudes standing over shiny grills talking features. Which is nice but also useless. The point of buying a grill is to use it. Not talk about it. Easy Start up, temperature control, flare ups and hot spots are what matter most. Good stuff, brother. Cheers!
Glad you found it useful. This was one of a few videos that I decided to film during the COVID lockdown for my dealer network. It was fun and tasty. The Hestan is still my favorite gas grill if you can afford it.
People watching this don’t want to see you cooking or the items your are making but they want to see the EcoFlow display so they have an idea of the power consumption. Which was supposedly the purpose of this video. You failed. Very rarely you would show the display. Got distracted showing the devices and the food but hardly ever the ecoflow display. Just a heads up.
It’s hard to know what everyone wants. I was demonstrating it’s capabilities in a simple way that could be understood. I am not sponsored or affiliated with any of the products and was hoping to show how this device is useful to me. Thanks for stopping by.
@@nicksreviewsmiami All I can say is this for the critic, "If you can do better, make a video to post"!!!!
Thanks, I found this really helpful to take the basic maths of usage, time, and power, as yardstick parameters to help me decide what would work for my use cases. Can't believe the bitterness on some of these comments; keep up the good work man!
I use jet boil basecamp and jet boil half gen with jet boil mini mo. Charbroil grill all propane. Save my these ecoflows for my two dometics lights projectors phones tablets etc
You need a lesson in reality. You are using it like it a middle school science experiment. It makes no sense to br able to use it for 30 mins. Sure it can power the devices but you have to couple that with real life use cases. How much utility can i get out of it. To get real life utility out of it you would use several lower wattage cooking devices to make ALL of your meals in a day then you let it charge over night or between uses. Show it making coffee some scrambled eggs n toast and blending up a smoothie using lower wattage devices! You should be able to do this several times in a day without draining all of its power.
Have you seen my other video where I made breakfast with it? This video was simply a test to see if it would power my induction burner and allow me to boil water. It was not intended to demonstrate how it can cook a meal on this video. Are you familiar with these ecoflow devices? The benefit is that they can fully recharge in 1 hour, not overnight.
Where are your videos? Did you make an account just to write comments and attempt to tell others how to use products?
This is exactly the type of review i was looking for. Quick and to the point. Max drain of the battery without all the fluff. Great video.
@@nicksreviewsmiami in real life no one wants to use it for just 30 mins to boil water and then have to recharge it. Solar does not recharge it fast and if you are near a plug, you would use a plug. Using it to boil water from a high voltage induction device is not a good use case in utilization. That would be a very inefficient way to use it. Yes I have one but I would not have bought it based on what you are demonstrating.
@@nicksreviewsmiami if you can’t take feedback then turn off your comments.
Two minutes into the video, you turned a light on over the top of the appliances. How does that work if you have no power?
That light is plugged into the power strip that the ecoflow is running. I have all of the appliances in this cabinet going into a 20amp power strip. The cabinet light is also plugged into this power strip.
