Very nice video and appreciated. But hard to understand the narrator, and the sound levels are off. Music is loud, voices are soft, narrator swallows words and speaks very fast !!! Looking into a bit tent cabin or a yurt. Nice to see this "in action."

Oh and another thing, pitching a tipi may seem a little intimidating, but it is actually quite easy. I don't know if it is still the custom of providing "The Tipi Book" with the purchase of an Earthworks Tipi, but the instructions are in it and once you get the hang of it, it takes 30-45 minutes tops, weather permitting! There is nothing like having the shadows of the trees cast on the tipi on a full moon night! It's quite magical.

Let me say that my husband bought his first tipi thru Earthworks Tipi 20 years ago and we have it still. He lived in it during one of the coldest winters in our part of Colorado and then moved to Page, Arizona for a summer. It was not unbearable at any time. That tipi has the prints of all 5 of our children on the cover. They have grown up with it and love it. The staff have always been very knowledgeable. We even took a tour of their facility and it was just fascinating. Love you guys!

love these yurts..colorado yurt company is a top notch company but as it and the rest out thr i think they are a bit pricey for what you get. if i do decide to buy one and really do want one it will be a 30ft. but think they can give you a lil more than you get.

TIPI SHELTER For CHEAP emergency housing, see my video called "Make a Villa in Your Workshop". It can be done with bamboo, garden plastic and duct tape, for an emergency shelter or it can be made with modern materials for a "tipi house". Or any materials. It's a shelter made from hexagonal tipis put together like bee cells. But only 3 or 4 tipis together, then one "joiner" tipi then another set of 3 or 4 and so on. You can build and branch out for ever. The tipis can be small (8 ft min base diam) but if you see the video you will see the way they join (geometrically). And it makes the 3 or 4 tipis to be one BIG room and 3 times the size of the tipis. (This is shown in the video, with a cardboard model.) With the bee cell concept, the (house or shelter) can be extended indefinitely, a bit like a Leggo house. You could make an emergency shelter with bamboo, garden plastic and duct tape and you can extend it for ever. So cheap and easy. Better than little tents everywhere (that can blow over). Tipis can't and the shelter can be one continuous premises, if you like.

Dang, the part I wanted to see most was how you pegged the front shut when it's so tall, and that's not in the video. In a moderate tipi, we always have one guy sit on another guy's shoulders to do the front pegs, but that wouldn't work here.

Can I build and install my own window frames without affecting warranty?

a nice tipi, but so much energy to heat would be wasted because of the height. my husband and i agree that the base should be wider to avoid slack in the cover, unless the tipi was designed specifically for this deck. we have 2 tipis from earthworks and a third homemade by an old timey rendezvous man. we have set up an additional earthwork tipi twice now for some ladies. there is NOTHING in this world like sleeping in a tipi with the shadows of the cottonwoods dancing in the full moon light. it is akin to religious.

I read below where you stated that this design was great for withstanding high winds. You inferred that it was superior to a shorter one. How can that be, as it has a larger surface area? Does it bend and give more due to its height? Is that the key?
