Hi, I'm Scott. I am a creative based in Brooklyn New York who specializes in Time Lapse, Hyperlapse, and Stop motion.
I turned to photography while living in Seoul Korea as a hobby and outlet and at that time started a travel blog which turned into our full time careers.
I use this channel as a way to share what I've learned since 2014 on working with destinations, brands and hotels to help other creatives like yourself learn faster and easier so you never feel like you can't handle a creative challenge.
If you are a beginner who is looking to learn time lapse and hyperlapse my hyperflow masterclass is perfect for you. Will require Adobe Creative Suite or something similar. Check it out at hyperflow-masterclass2.teachable.com/p/course
If you are an advanced time lapse, hyperlapser and looking how to put it all together into flowmotion style and charge more money than my course is also perfect for you. Check it out at hyperflow-masterclass2.teachable.com/p/course

I gave myself a 60 Minute Product Photography Challenge and this is how it went.
The goal was to push myself outside my comfort zone and make a professional quality image of a product as I branch out into other aspects of photography.
I often stop myself because I think I need this gear, that prop, this light, that lens etc... So I'll never get around to it. That stops now.
The photo I tried was one inspired by Ian Oliver Walsh on Instagram. If you like product photography he's definitely got a lot of killer work to check out.

What room did you have there?.
Very helpful and your kitty (adult cat now) is so cute.
Thank you sir! I wanted to do some Timelapse video’s on my YT. All credit goes to you ☺️ I have CapCut myself, but didn’t know I could make videos like that. Thanks, once again!
Thanks. It helped me
Great! Thanks! subscribed
Was a blessing, just needed to colour grade a quick timelapse and did not wanna download & pay for extra services and this worked perfectly
Tyy! I had capcut but I didn't know it could do that! This is perfect for my new yt vid!
Scott, I appreciate your instructions for Lapse-it but I also want to extract one photo from the video. Is there a way to do that? Where can I find additional instructions?
Go to your time lapse you made and then find a button that says frames catalog. Middle right of screen on my iPhone. Export your favorite frame from that that out as a zip and voila. Otherwise you could also play the video, scrub through and make a screenshot.
Very clear video. Thank you. You now have a new subscriber. 🎉
Thank you.
Am I correct the stabilisation mode is enabled?
I am sorry but I am slightly confused, if my timelapse intervals have to be every 5 seconds, what would my shutter speed be please? Any help would be greatly appreciated ✌️
Divide your interval by 2 and that’s an ideal shutter speed. So for 5 second interval. 2.5 would be ideal. But if you can’t get 2.5 seconds don’t worry, just get as much as you can to get some blur. Hope that helps.
Thanks so much for your reply. And thanks so much for a great video. It really helped!
Do I have to subscribe to make this app work? I have been trying to use the app without signing up for another forever bill… I swear I give like 70 place 5-25 bucks a month! By the way great video. You are very likable. Hope your channel grows!
It’s an annual subscription and it looks like it’s 5$ a year now. Thank you for the kind words hope you have a great week!
where are the action cams that can auto-adjust the shutter speed (and let you set ISO and Whitebalance manually). Havent found one so far...
Oof yeah not 100% sure I know they have the ability to shoot in auto modes. There are ways to set an auto max iso so it won’t go over a certain iso on GoPro 12 as well as white balance. I’d guess insta 360 does as well but not 100% sure.
Thank you so much
I love the level of detail and nuance you offer in your videos.
Thank you so much I really appreciate the kind words! Hope you're having a great week!
Thank you! This is all very helpful and very clear. You mentioned in one of the examples adding a time stamp to the time lapse and I’m wondering how to do it. Right now, I’m using Lapse It and my iPhone, but I have a variety of Adobe programs I could use after the fact. Do you have a sense of what is a simple, straightforward way to do this? I’m trying to take readings of how much sunlight different areas inside and outside of my house get so that I can determine what vegetables can be planted in different places. A lot of the sunlight happens in hours when I’ll be sleeping, which is why a recording is particularly helpful. Right now, I’ve included a large physical clock in my videos but it is rather cumbersome and a bit hard to read. I can imagine when I’m trying to make time lapse videos that are for less utilitarian purposes, it could be really nice sometimes to have a more subtle clock.
In Lapse it. In the summary tab (The tabs are found on the bottom of the screen and are Summary/Editor/Effects/Soundtrack. There is an option for displaying timestamp. If it's not there, than it's either an update OR just a feature in the paid version?
@@ScottHerderWow!!!! Thank you! I’ve been doing all these gymnastics when the setting was right there under my nose! 😄 Thank you so much for showing me where to find it! I super appreciate it!
@@joyflg1rl my pleasure, glad it could be helpful!
Thank you! This walkthrough was incredibly useful!
Thanks Joy! So glad to hear that.
Damn that’s absolutely gorgeous. I want to go there but this year is so busy I’ll need to wait until next year, since it’s a big trip for me. Can’t wait though. Btw is this in the east block or the west block?
You would have views like this at both sites. But this one is taken at the East Block. This experience was honestly one of my favorite things ever. If you liketrying to stargaze I recommend planning around a new moon. Hope you get to make it happen it's an absolute treat. East block we loved for walking and hikes and west block we loved for seeing all the cute little critters. 11/10 would do again.
@@ScottHerder what month did you go that time, if you remember?
@@Chaos_Birb Just looked and it looks like exactly one year ago!
Nice job! I was going to say, where the cats? And then I saw them at the end. 😂
Hahaha they love whenever the lights are out. They wanna sun bathe in them hard!
Can't gou just take a long video and speed it up in post? Thats what I've been doing. Seems to work quite well
Great question. You can in a pinch but I don’t recommend it. It takes up way more storage and battery power and unless your shooting on a camera that can shoot raw video your going to lose image quality. Lastly, it doesn’t give you the same look and feel. But I’ll admit to doing it occasionally. Mostly when I’m not sure if I want a short 10 second clip of a scene or the entire Timelapse in 2-3 seconds.
If you shoot in aperture priority, wouldn’t the time lapse speed up in night time as camera would slow down the shutter speed to maintain exposure?
Great question. Short answer. Absolutely yes it can slow it down. That's why you want to choose a good interval for them. However, many newer cameras now have minimum and maximum ISO features. So you can just turn up your max ISO so that way it goes to that first if you are concerned about keeping the EXACT same shutter speed the entire time. But as long as the shutter speed doesn't exceed the interval, you're fine!

Good stuff dude! Got my sub for sure this is very helpful.
Awesome, thank you!
hey, that's pretty much all what I need to shoot a time lapse! thanks
You’re welcome

Nice edit!
I'm glad you like it
Nice, which floor plan is this specifically?
Capcut is not available on app store
No, it's only available for ICRAP..... I mean ICRAP.....! Sigh... I MEAN ICRAP! Damn it! You know what I mean! 🤣😂🤣😂😎
Yes it is
Hey Scott, I have to shoot solar panels that follow the sun over a 12 hour period. What interval would you recommend?
Damn that sounds interesting! Anytime I shoot anything new that I’ve never done I err on the side of caution and shoot more than I think I’ll need. So I’d go a photo every minute. This would get you 720 photos. ( i normally aim for 10 seconds or 240 photos) 720 photos will get you about 30 seconds of Timelapse. You can then speed it up to be faster if needed but that’s a safe start.
@@ScottHerderok cool. Thanks for the reply!
Absolutely amazing
Appreciate it Jayden!
saved me hours of figuring it out on my own. You deserve my sub lol
Thanks so much for the particular use-case examples and visual examples!
You're very welcome!
thx! i practiced this with my first video editing EVER!!! and after fooling around on the app i got it to work with time lapse, a background song, and my voiceover. so cool!
Glad I could help!

Not free. Subscription required.
For Cap Cut? No there is no subscription required. There's a free version with limited features and pro version with all features. But this is not a pro feature.
CapCut ftw! Scott Herder ftw!
Seems like they have removed this app from the Google Play Store. The link you provided links to another app :( Really sad about this. I use to love this app on my iPhone
