How to make chili
It's 10 degrees out. Snow. Ice. Red lines on Google Maps. Thank goodness I'm inside. Time for chili.
2 tablespoons oil (canola, olive, avocado, vegetable, what have you)
1 lbs meat (turkey, beef, venison, what have you)
1 can (14.5oz) diced tomatoes
2 cans (16oz) chili beans with sauce
1 green pepper diced or 1 - 4oz can diced chilis
1 tablespoon chili powder
1/2 tablespoon granulated onion
1/2 tablespoon granulated garlic
1/2 tablespoon granulated garlic
1/2 tablespoon cumin
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 tablespoon salt
Heat up oil in a medium - low soup pan. Sautee meat and onion together (green pepper if using fresh). Drain if needed.
Add the rest of the ingredients.
Based on preference - fill one empty bean can with water and add to chili. Can also add 2-3 teaspoons each of beef and chili stock base. Add less if want less salt in chili.
Stew on low for 1 hour. Keep preferably overnight. Two nights is even better. Enjoy with buttered saltine crackers, frito chips, cheese, onion, sour cream, jalapeno, french fried onions, oh my.

How To Make French Press Coffee
มุมมอง 3107 ปีที่แล้ว
Good beans (preferrably roasted in Michigan), a grinder, hot water, and a french press. Simple ingredients for a hot morning brew. This is also great for adding strong coffee to a beer recipe. Or to a tiramisu. It doesn't matter! You can also use a french press for loose leaf tea. Go forth and be crazy, my friend. How to Can Beets
มุมมอง 1.2K8 ปีที่แล้ว
Picked up some beets at the farmers market. Now the task is to can them and preserve them so I can enjoy them throughout the year. Remember to keep your jars hot as well as the beets when adding boiling water. Make sure everything is clean! Adding the tablespoon of white vinegar to the canning water inside the pressure canner helps to keep a white film from appearing on your lids. Canned goods ...
Envirocycle Composter Unboxing

"The World's Most Beautiful Composter." I love composting because it's cheap, simple, and environmentally friendly! Very few food scraps go into our trash now and the difference in weight and smell is noticeable. Composting takes discarded plant based material and turns it into usable fertilizer and soil stabilizer. Compost produces nutrients, allows for better water retention, and diverts food...
My Second Homebrew

Tried my hand at a English Session Ale. Beginner tips from a beginner: 1. Get yourself a five gallon brew pot. My first brew I was using a 3 gallon pot. I figured since I was only using 2.5 gallons for the boil it wouldn't be a big deal. Wrong. Get the five gallon. 2. "Mise En Place" Essentially the French term for "Get your crap in order." Have everything ready before hand so when one step end...
Drinking My First Home Brew

Totally late to post. This was taken last October. The stout turned out average but drinkable! This is all I wanted since I was nervous about sanitation the whole time I was brewing. I wasn't shooting for the silver medal at the World Beer Expo.
How to Make Squash Soup

Soup is a warm squishy blanket. It heals, it warms the insides, it makes people write ridiculous sentences to sum up how they feel about it. One thing is true: Soup is a kitchen staple. Add this to your artillery. I like this recipe because it is very forgiving in terms of consistency and flavor i.e. you shouldn't feel bad if you leave the squash in too long during roasting, it will only result...
How to Make Cranberry Sauce

Get your hand away from that can and try this recipe for your next holiday gathering! Super simple. Although I do on occasion enjoy the alien jelly that is canned cranberry sauce I really can't pass up on making my own. I love it. My parents love it. My in-laws love it! It's the condiment that brings people together. My take on this recipe stems from the recipe on the back of the bag of cranber...

How to Pick a Ripe Melon and What to Do If It's Not There Yet: Look for a firm melon that gives slightly when you apply pressure. If you have a very firm melon try putting it into a brown paper bag for a few days until slightly more tender. From WikiHow: "The taste of the cantaloupe will not change when you ripen it off the vine since its flesh does not contain starches capable of converting to...
